Local distillery serving up some great BBQ! This local spot is located in downtown Grandville and…read moreoffers side streets as well as a small lot in the back of the restaurant. Inside you will find an array of high tops and low tops as well as some dinette seating but no booths. Visiting recently on a Saturday was a little tough but that was because half of the restaurant was reserved for a scheduled party. The service was a little choppy but the team did apologize for the lengthy wait and the back and forth. I truly believe it was because they were expecting a large crowd and people who were dining in didn't have a place to sit right away. All in all the food was delicious! Note there are times where they run out of BBQ so if you don't want to make the trip you can call ahead. There stated hours of operation are: Mon - Thur: 4:00pm - 10:00pm Fri - Sat: 11:00am - 10:00pm Sunday: Closed We ordered the following: Chips and queso with a side of pico: this was delicious. The queso was creamy and the pico gave it a great tang! I don't know if the chips are made in house but they were great. $9 1/2 LB Smoked wings in buffalo sauce: The wings were served with ranch and they definitely fell off the bone tender. The buffalo sauce was your typical sauce flavor. The wings come with a slice of bread that they put under them - almost missed it. $8 BBQ Meat Sampler: 1/4 Lb. of Each Meat -- Chicken, Pork, Brisket, Pork Ribs Served with BobbyQ Sauce, a slice of bread and some pickle chips. This sampler was perfect for two. It was a great way to try all their bbq options. My favorite was the brisket. Everything was well seasoned and so tender. The BobbyQ Sauce is their bbq sauce and they serve it warm. The sauce has a nice tang to it and goes well with the food. Because the restaurant was pretty busy I did not ask if they offer other sauces. $28 Jalapeno Cornbread with whipped honey butter: the cornbread was good but we didn't really get that jalapeno kick and will most likely skip on this next time. $4 Kids menu MAC & CHEESE made with queso blanco and served with a choice of Chips, Apple Sauce, Potato Salad, or Fusion Slaw We chose the potato salad but it was very bland and the kids did not like how hard the potatoes were. I think my kids would give the fusion slaw or the house chips a try next time. $8 Overall the food was great and we love supporting local so we will definitely be back.

As Restaurant Week's final day draws to a close, we chose to try The Bier Distillery…read more Off a busy road, not too far from the West River Drive exit, is a well lit restaurant adorned with wooden barrel tables and chairs. Lofted above is a great looking outdoors complete with heat lamps and a mini A framed covered area that can be rented for parties. We were greeted warmly by friendly staff and given a kids menu, draft and spirits menu, regular menu and restaurant week menu. Menus galore! We went with the 3 course meal (many items can be ordered on the regular menu) for $25. I ordered the tomato paprika soup and my husband got the split pea soup. Of the two, the split pea soup was the clear winner. Two kinds of pork (cubed and shredded), well balanced seasoning and texture married well to enhance a soup I've loved since childhood. I could've easily eaten a bowl for my meal. The accompanying homemade Dutch Rye Bread, though I'm sure it's authentic, I didn't care for. It was dense, soft and had an off putting flavor. The second course we had was equally delicious. My hubby had the beef and pork sausage overtop a bed of mashed potatoes with kale, onions and bacon. I loved the addition of kale and the sausage was tasty. Everything was well seasoned. My beef slow cooked with apples and beer was delicious. I wish it had been served with more beef. It would have been nice to have some bigger chunks of meat to dive into. The mashed potatoes they came with were good, but the potatoes with kale were the star between the two dishes. The kid's meals were also good. The hamburger had a nice smokey flavor with a tasty side of fries. My daughter didn't care for her Mac 'n cheese, but that's because it was too refined for her palette. The Gouda cheese was complimented by the egg noodles. The third course was dessert. I tried the restaurant Flip custard: Dutch custard, fruit compote, and topped with a dollop of Greek Yogurt. It came with a cute spoon that gave the perfect portions and the flavors all complemented each other well. I would order this again and again. It was a great balance of tangy, fruity and sweet. My husband had the stroopwafle icecream. It was also good, and came with a cute mini stroopwafle. I washed all this down with their Bier Distillery Lager and tried a flavored banket spirit. This restaurant originally was just a beer and specialty liquor spot. I love that they now serve food, because that was the highlight of our evening. I wish this establishment was closer to our home, but perhaps will come back when the weather is nicer to enjoy the outdoor patio. Definitely come and check out this The Bier Distillery for yummy Dutch inspired food and drink! Worth the drive.

I ordered the Verboden which had apple brandy so delicious. It's fall in a glass and then the butterbier rum butterscotch cream soda and whipped cream. My sister enjoyed the almond joy. Now the food wow is a good word to describe what we ate. We started with the bitterballin which is beef croquettes with spicy mustard and a cup of split pea soup. We split a burger with carmelized onions pickles and paprika mayo and had a garden salad with dill pickle vinaigrette They have so much to offer and it so unique.

First things first. I have to address why I was so sad after this visit. I TOTALLY FORGOT they have…read moremini cocktail flights. I was so excited about this option when I saw it on Instagram but there is so little mention of it in the menu (basically an, "ask us about our mini cocktail flight" at the bottom of a page) and no leaflet showing the flight details or price. I'm very much a person that likes to try a little bit for everything so once I remembered it after we left, I had a moment. I got a Gin Fizz and the bf got a Blueberry Vanilla Mule. The gin Fizz tasted very much like lemonade, even with the addition of cran flavoring. The Blueverry Vanilla Mule was very strongly clove. If you like clove, you'd likely like that one. We decided against getting second cocktails since happy hour had ended, but got a flight to try their stuff. We like the liqueurs but they are hard to sip straight due to all the flavor they pack. Our favorite was the Pink Peppercorn Gin out of everything we tried. We would definitely come back, but please print out the cocktail flight list or at least suggest it if people are hemming and hawing over what to get like I was.

The tour is $20 and it comes with a flight, which we were going to try anyway. Or you can just do the tour for $10 if you don't want a flight. It's not much of a "tour" in a physical sense as their production facility is small, in just one room, but we learned a lot about distilling in general, as well as a lot of information about the company and their products. I'd highly recommend it especially if you don't know much about the company. The interior has a 20s speakeasy feel, which I really liked. It's a little fancy but comfortable and welcoming. The drink menu was pretty large and it was tough for me to choose which drink I wanted after the flight. I ended up with the blueberry margarita because it was on happy hour. It was really great! Not too sweet. Nate got the cherry black Manhattan which we both enjoyed too. I loved the flight because we got to try pretty much all of the spirit offerings, including their amaro, Oaxacan green corn bourbon, and pink peppercorn gin, which were all unique and very tasty. Our bartender was knowledgable and very kind - great service. I'll definitely be back!
