I also booked for a gloss (and only a gloss, no hair cut / styling) online it said it would be 60.00$ and after my session was done it totaled to be 115.00$. Apparently they have a salon fee they sneak in there and don't tell you until the end. The gloss looks nice, but I feel like I got ripped off and for that reason I would never go back. What frustrated me even more was that the checkout system automatically required a 20% tip, with no option to leave a smaller tip or decline it. I understand tipping for good service, but I don't feel comfortable being forced into a 20% tip, especially after the price of the service had already increased significantly from the $60 I was originally quoted. If there were additional charges based on time and labor, I feel those should have been clearly explained before the service so I could make an informed decision about the cost.

I really wanted to have a good experience here, but unfortunately I left very disappointed with my…read morecolor service. I paid over $300, plus a tip, and after getting home and seeing my hair in normal lighting, my roots looked very gold/yellow with a noticeable line where the color did not blend into the rest of my hair. I reached out right away, sent photos, and explained my concerns. The initial suggestion was that additional highlighting may be needed, and I was also told that an assistant could highlight it. After the original result and that proposed correction, I no longer felt comfortable having more chemical work done at the same salon and decided to get another professional opinion. I asked for at least a partial refund since I now have to pay another salon to assess and correct the color, but the salon declined because I did not return for an in-person reassessment. I understand businesses have policies, but as a client, I also think it is reasonable not to feel comfortable returning for additional chemical services after losing confidence in the result and proposed correction. I'm sharing this so others can make an informed decision. I would recommend taking clear before/after photos, asking exactly who will be performing each step of the service, and clarifying the salon's refund/correction policy before booking. I would also recommend asking for a full price breakdown before any service begins. I was not given the full pricing until I checked out, which added to the frustration.

Panache is run by proprietor Susan Anthony who has trained with top hair stylists in New York City…read moreand Scottsdale, Arizona. I found Panache after trying several salons in northern Michigan. After my first cut and color with Susan, I knew I could quit looking for a stylist. I'd found mine. I recently moved to Kansas City, and have found that finding a new stylist has been the hardest part of the move. Based on a referral, I started out going to one of the best salons in southern Kansas City. I've been nothing but disappointed, here and at several other salons. I wasn't too surprised to have to pay more in the "city", but I'm really surprised that even when I paid 2x for my color, and 50% more for the style, I was getting styles and color that didn't even come close in quality to what I got at Panache. I guess I have difficult hair, with swirls and cow licks in difficult places, and very thick hair. Not to mention the fact that I insist on having a wash and wear style that doesn't require anything more than blow drying with a round brush. Susan was always great to listen to my needs and give me a style that looked great and met my requirements. Every time I go back to Michigan, I call Susan and ask her to do a "hair intervention" to fix the bad cuts I've been getting in Kansas City. I'm moving on to stylist #5 in KC, but I always know that Susan will be there for me when I go back in a few months. I've always felt it wasn't worth it to cut corners with what I spend on my hair. When my hair looks good, I feel good about myself, and project a lot more confidence. That's so important in this job market. My experience in Kansas City has really driven that point home. In the end, I spend more on my hair trying to get a bad cut or bad color fixed than if I spent a little bit more in the first place. When I was in Michigan I always felt that Panache was a good value, a good investment in me. After my experiences here in KC, I am even more certain that Panache is an excellent value, delivering great styles and color at a reasonable price.
