An all dessert cafe in Fitzroy.
If you have one and only one dessert in your visit to Melbourne,
Go to the Fluffy Torpedo for legendary wacky ice cream.
There is no other place like Fluffy Torpedo on the planet.

But if you have room for a second dessert,
Or you are here for more than one day,
the Twisted Dessert Bar is well worth a visit.
The lady who runs it is super-nice.
She is a king hell baker.
She has lots of ideas about dessert treats.
My guess is that you could order about twenty two things off of her menu and get twenty two fantastic treats.
I had an absolutely amazing peanut butter chocolate cake.
I am usually not a chocolate cake fan ...
But her chocolate cake is really good.
It is the peanut butter flavor (mostly worked into the icing)
That sends this baby over the top.
This tastes more like peanut butter than peanut butter does ... only better.

One small grumble.
Because she likes her desserts to look nice, she adds edible flowers as a garnish.
I don't care what it says on the edible flowers box, or on the bin with edible flowers at the farmer's market.
Flowers are not edible and never will be.
I was constantly pulling flowers out of my mouth throughout the dessert.
But for peanut butter chocolate cake, I am willing to do a lot.
She also does a premium hot chocolate with a toasted smores like jumbo marshmallow on top.
(Actually a whole bunch of said toasted marshmallows on top.)
Never mind the hot chocolate itself - which is nice for what it is but is just hot chocolate.
Those marshmallows are the stars of the show.
These are as good as the marshmallows you toast over an open fire while camping,
Only you don't have mosquitoes, you don't have rocks under your sleeping bag, and you don't have to set up for ninety minutes before you can start having fun.
Get your toasty marshmallows at Twisted Dessert Bar.

One wish.
I hope this lady makes enough money so that she can redecorate her place.
The desserts she sells are lovely.
The room she has to work with is kind of bus station institutional.
She deserves a room to sell her goodies in that are as nice as the goodies themselves.
Never mind edible flowers on the plate.
Great big painted flowers on the wall would be first rate.

She does a traditional British scones on weekends.
Those scones look awfully awfully tempting ... read more
