    Coconut with brownies

I came here after the night market for dessert because I heard a lot of good things about it. It's a small a little shop in a busy alleyway filled with restaurants. They had a lot of standard flavors as well as seasonal flavors but each one was pretty good and distinct. I got the coconut and brownies on a cone and it was really good. You get the coconut flavor and chunks off brownies mixed in. For a small scoop I think it's pretty reasonable price and portion. Overall a good place to try gelato in Melbourne and would definitely come back

After dinner, we knew gelato was in order. We were a short drive away so we hit up Pidapipó. This is the OG location (second location is on Chapel Street which we'd also been to). We dropped in on a Tuesday evening (around 9:15pm) and there was a huge line out the door! I guess this shouldn't be a surprise as Pidapipó always seems to be busy, no matter what time of day. That and the music is always bumpin'. There were almost 20 flavours available (milk based and dairy free). There's also affogato and frappé options. Prices are pretty reasonable ($4.50 for one, $6.50 for two and $7.50 AUD for three scoops). Take away tubs are available too. Service is fast and friendly. Interesting that here is an all girls team vs. all guys at the Chapel location. Not sure if that's an actual thing. Like how you can sample a few flavours (even when it's packed). - 3 scoops ($7.50 AUD) - we got mint with white chocolate, ricotta & fig and nectarine. I wanted more flavour in both the ricotta & gig and nectarine. Still good but it was missing that burst in flavour that their other flavours have. Cone is excellent and homemade. The line says it all. Can't go wrong with gelato here but I preferred their other location.

Inside with 3 double scoops. So many flavors!

Stumbled onto this place after seeing a show. It was so good we went back again after leaving D.O.C pizza. Delicious flavors. Coffee and coconut chocolate chip were my 2 favorites.

Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Cleanliness: 5/5 Decor & Style: 3/5 The absolute BEST gelato in the world (so far)! Not kidding. We came back twice in our trip and tried out 8 total flavors. My favorite being the Hazelnut! Please try!

This place had a significant line late on a Monday night, which tells you something. What it tells me is that Australia has a nutella fad going on, and this place offered nutella flavored gelato (which I ordered), plus hot nutella as an option (which I resisted, perhaps unwisely). The intrinsic flavor of the gelato itself was exceptional, as was its creaminess. The strawberry and nutella combination didn't quite hit the high point I'd hoped for, however. They also courted my criticism by offering only a couple of dairy-free options, and by not offering mint (obviously the best flavor), but nonetheless, I don't feel compelled to be too harsh, and I'd have been happy to return if I could.

Summer & ice cream & fresh flavours = happy tastebuds. Originally opening as a popup, pidapipo has been running in its current permanent home for a while now. Almost always packed with people looking to satisfy their ice cream cravings, it never takes long to get served even when you see a huge line out front. I always love trying a few different ones before settling on a cone of something tasty. You can also get a cup of ice cream if you want to be boring (I don't get what everyone sees in cups over cones!). The highlights for me are usually the gelato made with fresh seasonal fruit. Mint, honeycomb, watermelon, peach, passionfruit and blood orange have all been delicious creations in the past. Coffee is also a safe bet. There is a liquid chocolate tap if you are keen on getting an even bigger sugar hit. Bring on summer!

I was expecting some unusual flavours here but on my visit they seemed fairly "normal". I don't mean boring, but rather they were flavours I've seen made elsewhere. Of course the proof of the pudding is in the tasting, or in this case the proof of the gelati is in the scoffing kerbside as soon as you leave the store. The peanut butter gelati was amazing - great flavour and texture and I yearned to pair it with something banana flavoured. Instead I went with the grapefruit sorbet. It was zingy, though if argue that the texture was a little icy and not as smooth as I've had elsewhere (*cough* gelati primavera *cough*) Worth a visit if you're a gelati fan and in the area.

People, they have HOT NUTELLA! In some incredible stroke of genius, they decided it would be good to coat the inside of the cones with it (if you request it, and you really, really should) This gelato is amazing! We had coconut, salted caramel, and nutella swirl - all of them were delicious! The salted caramel will blow your mind. Not at all surprised that this place is so popular.

    Nutella on tap? Yes, please!

This is some of the best gelato I've had outside of Europe! They have a good range of flavours and toppings and the gelato has such a smooth and creamy texture. Oh, and did I mention that they have Nutella on tap? Do yourself a favour and go, immediately.

For those who love a good, solid gelato then you'll have to come try Pidapipó. Located towards the end of Lygon St, this gelataria opens in time for an after-lunch dessert, until late. If you're a fan of the classics you can expect good things from the pistachio, fior di latte and hazelnut while new age connoisseurs will enjoy the salted caramel and peanut butter flavours. The gelato is creamy, smooth and velvety with amazing flavour. Expect to spend $4 a scoop or if you're like me and can't decide between flavours, $6 for two scoops and $7 for three.

Very good gelato for Melbourne. Flavors change regularly. Open until 11pm!!! The non-dairy options could be creamier.

We were looking for a restaurant that was less touristy than many of the others along the laneways,…read moreand we came upon Tipo 00 so we made a reservation. We're glad we did! Here's what we noticed: - It was difficult to get a reservation at prime dinner hour, so we opted for a 3:30 PM late lunch/early dinner which worked out perfectly for our schedule. - The place overall has a great vibe, good music, and it is pretty small. - There were some really interesting drinks and good wines to choose from...we went with wine since we had other plans later that evening. - We decided to start with the salad with pear and honey, and then my wife and I split both the black squid ink pasta, and the special pasta that had Moreton Bay Bugs. The salad was incredible perfectly dressed... Having it first gave us away as Americans for sure, but it was perfect. The squid ink pasta was every bit as good as everyone said in reviews, and so was the special pasta. - Service was great, not overbearing. They even brought us some extra bread so we could sop up the sauce from our pasta. Bottom line: There are so many great restaurants in Melbourne and Tipo 00 is right up there and should be on your "to try list".

Delicious meal from start to finish, excellent service and one of the best Italian meals we've had. Highly recommend.

I came here on New Years Day for dinner. The menu is 6 pages long, but there is a picture of every dish, which makes it really helpful to decide (I assume especially if you're not Korean). I kept it classic and went with the beef bibimbap, and boy am I glad I did! The only adjustment I made was no bean sprouts. Served in a sizzling hot stone bowl, you'll have to control yourself for a couple of minutes to let the rice continue to cook and get all crispy on the edges. The server was quite sweet and asked me if I knew how to eat it when she delivered the bowl. I sheepishly said, "um, mix it all together?" and she nodded in approval and skipped away. All of the ingredients and flavors blended together perfectly, aided by a generous helping of gochugang (sweet/spicy red sauce). I added a grapefruit soju to wash it down. Like many places, you'll self serve cutlery (chopsticks, spoons, napkins) as well as water from the counter. Someone takes your order either at the register or your table (didn't seem to be rhyme or reason to which or why), and then drops off your food when you're done. Space is tailored to groups of 2 or 4, though one group of about 6 or 7 kids came in together looking worse for wear after NYE. Prices are about $15 each for most entrees. The food was delicious (see photos) and I will be back!
