Big fans over here! We hired Heidi and Hilary back in 2019 with an original wedding date in the Spring of 2020. Through multiple date changes, pandemic, and brush fire scares, we finally settled on a date in late August of 2021. H&H were flexible in adjusting their availability every time we wearily asked again. Desserts/cake were tricky for us when it came to finding an artist. They were one of the few vendors we didn't really have suggestions on from friends/family. We did research based on reviews, social media postings, and just a gut feeling after reaching out. We are SO glad we did! When the big day finally arrived, we honestly did not know what to expect when we arrived at the venue. As our space was being flipped from ceremony to reception during cocktail hour, we would not see the final dessert table with centerpiece cake until the reception started. AND we still didn't know how all of that would be flipped from ceremony to reception during cocktail hour without guests noticing... but it was done without a hitch! WE did not even notice the team flipping the space from one beautiful set up to the next! Nothing colorful just plain ol' chocolate. We decided on chocolate cake, ganache filling, and white buttercream frosting. I also told them I bought a topper I'd like them to add. It wasn't a problem for them at all. I also ordered their Magic bars and Lemon bars. They were kind enough to deliver to my house which was a tremendous convenience considering how busy I was preparing for the party. Hilary even laid out the bars on to platters and put the cake on a stand with the toppers I bought. No exaggeration, everyone LOVED the cake. We hired them for our wedding in November to bake our wedding cake and cupcakes. All in all, we really loved our cake (even though the color was a bit off), the taste was great, and the guest LOVED the cupcakes, there wasn't a single one left. Very cost effective, and flexible. So for those reasons, we really are so happy we booked them. This will be our honest review working with Heidi and Hillary. They were great at the tasting, which took place at a Starbucks. So we went with them, they drew up an invoice with details and it was set. Leading up to the wedding, there were some hiccups. Sometimes we felt tension in the emails when suggesting certain design detail changes, or preferences. Granted, we did change things up closer to the date (we booked them almost 9 months in advance) so maybe that contributed to it? (There was actually another "situation" but it really isn't worth mentioning, as we believe it was a case-by-case basis.) They were helpful and responsive close to the date, which was great and even made a helpful suggestion which worked out for the best. In the end, the cake was actually a lot lighter shade of teal than our wedding color. (Our wedding colors were DEEP teal and champagne gold), which was quite obviously different. Not a HUGE deal but if you are very very specific about your color, bring a swatch so that it's more exact. TLDR; a few small hiccups but still happy we booked them. They are as sweet as can be and the minute we met up with them for the cake tasting, we knew they were the one's we wanted to make our wedding cake, and they were the first and only cake we tasted for it! The cake was really yummy, and I love how they styled it. It was perfect. However, I also had a lot of trouble getting them to respond to my emails and calls. One week before the wedding, I still hadn't gotten an invoice or heard back since I said I wanted to book them. It was pretty stressful. HOWEVER, my point of contact went into labor so obviously it was a good reason. I don't think that that is a testament to their business at all! I wanted a naked cake, and they said it wouldn't be a problem. 3 days before my wedding, she called me to say that they actually couldn't do a full naked cake with the flavor I chose. We settled on a partial-naked cake, and it was still really pretty and tasted yummy, but I wish I would have known in advanced. AGAIN, I think this was more due to timing, and isn't the norm. The cake was REALLY YUMMY. I can't stress that enough. Usually wedding cakes taste sort of nasty and old (at least in my experience), but there's was fresh, soft, and really good. My husband told me he doesn't even like lemon cake, but he liked this one. They also do dessert bars, and if their cake is any indication of what their cake pops and brownies taste like, I'd go to that wedding just for that.
