Absolutely the Worst YMCA in the state of NC. Terrible customer service, old and unsanitary, disgusting, overpriced, and full of stench.

I've belonged to many different gyms over the years, but Sound Fitness is definitely my favorite…read moregym of all! When you walk in, you are greeted by one of the friendly staff members (Madeline is so sweet!), and you'll notice the cleanliness of the facility, the first-rate equipment and the overall upbeat energy of the place. Everything you need for health and fitness is right here...classes, equipment/machines and personal trainers. CLASSES - I've really been enjoying the classes so much and the teachers are amazing. There is so much variety! I love taking Amie's BODYPUMP class, Brooke's TONE class, Diane's PILATES (Mat & Reformer) class and Tamara's YOGA class. There are lots of classes in addition to these that I haven't tried yet, so I recommend coming in to check out all they have to offer, as I'm sure you'll find classes that will be just the right fit for you. EQUIPMENT/MACHINES - There is a huge variety of equipment at Sound, along with many different weight machines to choose from. There are plenty of treadmills, ellipticals, cycling and stair machines...too many to list, actually. At Sound Fitness there is truly something for everyone and everything is always kept clean and well-maintained. PERSONAL TRAINERS - There are some wonderful personal trainers at Sound Fitness and I had the pleasure of working with Brooke (the owner) recently. She is amazing! She educated me on how certain exercises and just slight tweaks of form can make a huge difference in overall mobility and fitness. She is very knowledgeable and truly cares about her clients and gym members. Sound Fitness is the perfect gym, in my opinion...not too big as to overwhelm but just the right size for all of your fitness needs. I'm so glad to have found my "fit family" at Sound Fitness!

If you sign up as a group, make sure that EVERY SINGLE PERSON in that group is listed on the contract and that you RECEIVE that contract IMMEDIATELY after it is signed. Make sure that everything is spelled out stating every person on the plan, the cost per person, length of contract, etc. Due to their lack of detail in their contracts, they WILL and CAN win at court if you ever have to take them there due to failure to follow through with the contract. JUST BEWARE!!! A lot of the workers are nice people, but beware of the practices. They need to fix their system, but I do not believe they will. They can screw you over if you are not careful.

Next is price. $99 enrollment fee with 47 a month. Oh but you have to be locked into a one or two year contract? I transferred from California where I was a member of a 24 hour fitness which meant open 24/7 and had multiple facilities including a pool. I paid less with no contract. Golds gym had more locations with better staff and prices. I feel bad for the owners since I've never seen this place packed. Prob for a reason. Now they opened a crossfit area, oh but you have to pay for that too in addition to your monthly fees. Good luck to this gym as they will be bought out soon. Don't waist your time or money. Two thumbs down

The staff are friendly and helpful greeting you upon arrival and thanking you for stopping in as you leave. Their furniture is reasonably priced and just needs a little love to make it great again. Some of the pieces are even perfect the way they are! Need lighting? They have lamps, sconces, pendants and chandeliers! A little spray paint & new shade, and they'll be perfect! They even have a great hardware section. Who knew you could buy a bucket of new bolts, screws, nuts or nails at Habitat...just fill a $5 or $10 bucket! They graciously accept donations of used of anything needed for the house. I've made several drop offs, and they always thank me. This type of store is a treasure hunt. With donations being received daily, their inventory changes, so you need to visit it frequently to be rewarded!

They also had a lot of stuff out that still needed to be priced. I found a very old socket set I was interested in, but couldn't buy it because it was not priced yet. I did find a few bargains such as packs of cotter pins, hose clamps, screw extractor bits and heat shrink tubing for .25 cents a pack. The three stars for the store but five stars for the staff as they were friendliest, most helpful staff we have encountered at a Restore in a very long time.
