I only give out 5 stars for extra exceptional Courses. This…read moreis one of them. Inspired by Mr. TexMex himself Lee Trevino, Linville Falls is a hidden treasure on hwy 221 near Marion NC. This is a shoemakers dream. Unlike most mountain courses, this one does not attempt to be so hard it can't be mastered. With a mountain stream running through its entirety bad shots are paid for in golf balls and added strokes. Most courses in the area are dishearteningly difficult with holes carved out if the side of a 45 degree slope. Check out the pictures and you will agree Linville Falls is a great course! Give them your business. 5 star friendly. The clubhouse is not fully stocked and that's the only downfall. I would have bought swag if they had any that's how much I like this course! Hit it straight!

Being new to golf (less than a year), I found that this course is actually a pretty good course for all skill levels. The reason why I did not give this course five stars is because the greens were unfortunately not in the greatest condition at this time. Besides that, the course is really beautiful and we have every intention on returning.

I have been a resident of this county for 30 years and will never play this course again over this persons attitude toward the younger generation of trying to learn a sport they enjoy.

What a hidden gem of a restaurant!! A friend recommended the Steak House to my husband and I and…read morewe decided to go for our anniversary on 2/11. We made a reservation for 5:00 pm. When you come to the Lodge and Golf Center you go into the main entrance and there's a hostess in the lobby. Since it was so close to Valentines Day the entire restaurant was decorated. As we were seated at our table we saw a pianist who was playing love songs softly in the corner. It was really nice. My husband and I were dressed in nice clothes but several people in the restaurant were wearing jeans so there really isn't a dress code. They had a Valentines menu but you could also order from the regular menu. We decided on the Valentines special: an appetizer to share (we chose shrimp cocktail), a choice of 3 entrees- Steak on a Stone, Lobster Ravioli or Tuscany Chicken (we both chose the Steak which was a 5oz filet seared on both sides and served on a 450 degree stone rare. The stone would continue cooking the steak until your desired doneness. I like mine Med but my husband likes his Med Rare so this worked out well for us. We both got a choice of 2 sides. I chose fried okra and baked potato. My husband chose mashed potatoes and green beans. We both got a dessert - a small red velvet cake plus a chocolate covered strawberry. The meal was DELICIOUS, the service was EXCELLENT and the atmosphere was very calming and pleasant. The pianist was an added bonus. We will definitely be back but we won't wait for a special occasion!

This is the sister course to Apple Valley Golf Course which is about a mile away. This year, the experience was 'post-COVID' and considerably better. They have more staff on hand to provide support at the front desk and with assistance with the carts as you check-in. The main guy, Matt is a real pro and very helpful. The starter could be your Grandmother, she is a sweet and likable lady who has worked there for years. I had the earliest tee time on a Saturday and she told me: you are my pace setter, my jackrabbit, my dew sweeper! She had my laughing right from the get go and I told her I wouldn't let her down. It's a semi-private course and the green fee remains at $75 which covers your range balls. They allow playing off the rubber mat only and irons only. Once again, no food at the club house but the food cart still makes the rounds and you can get a breakfast biscuit in the morning and a hot dog or wrap later in the day. Greens are very fast, fairways are a bit narrow in some areas but overall an easy to manage course even if you've never played before, the cart paths are well marked to get you from green to tee.
