Past the smell of cows and climbing up the hill, you'll find Ridge View. It's about as good of a range as you can get, no frills, just you, a bucket of balls, and hitting the heel of your club (see pic). The picture someone uploaded about bucket prices still holds. It's cash only so prepare for that. There are a few mats and plenty of space for hitting off the grass if you prefer that. Absolutely worth it.

This is a shot makers course. You don't exactly have to be a long ball hitter, but you better keep it in play. The conditioning is really looking good. Greens roll true, fairways are in good shape, and the rough does its job, just enough punishment to remind you to keep it straight. Where this course shines is in the layout. It is a visually pleasing course. The entire course meanders along the North Fork of the Catawba River. Holes 9, 11, 12, and 13 actually play across either the river or feeder streams, and 7, 8, and 14 play along side the river. Because of the course following the river, it avoids unnecessary elevation changes and has just enough up and downs to keep it very interesting. This is a must play for folks visiting in the mountains.

This is a shoemakers dream. Unlike most mountain courses, this one does not attempt to be so hard it can't be mastered. With a mountain stream running through its entirety bad shots are paid for in golf balls and added strokes. Most courses in the area are dishearteningly difficult with holes carved out if the side of a 45 degree slope. Check out the pictures and you will agree Linville Falls is a great course! Give them your business. 5 star friendly. The clubhouse is not fully stocked and that's the only downfall. I would have bought swag if they had any that's how much I like this course! When you come to the Lodge and Golf Center you go into the main entrance and there's a hostess in the lobby. Since it was so close to Valentines Day the entire restaurant was decorated. As we were seated at our table we saw a pianist who was playing love songs softly in the corner. It was really nice. My husband and I were dressed in nice clothes but several people in the restaurant were wearing jeans so there really isn't a dress code. They had a Valentines menu but you could also order from the regular menu. We decided on the Valentines special: an appetizer to share (we chose shrimp cocktail), a choice of 3 entrees- Steak on a Stone, Lobster Ravioli or Tuscany Chicken (we both chose the Steak which was a 5oz filet seared on both sides and served on a 450 degree stone rare. The stone would continue cooking the steak until your desired doneness. I like mine Med but my husband likes his Med Rare so this worked out well for us. We both got a choice of 2 sides. I chose fried okra and baked potato. My husband chose mashed potatoes and green beans. We both got a dessert - a small red velvet cake plus a chocolate covered strawberry. The meal was DELICIOUS, the service was EXCELLENT and the atmosphere was very calming and pleasant. The pianist was an added bonus. The owners are rude and a few other things We divided our 4-some up and played best ball to be efficient because they're still learning the game. We even let 2 groups play through because we were told no one was behind them. Ironically neither of those groups used the 90 degree rule, driving straight up the middle of the course Halfway through our 9 holes we recognized we were causing a backup to a pair playing behind us. We were running to get the balls not being used and occasionally didn't drive exactly 90 degrees but only at slight angles to try be as quick as possible Turns out the course owners were behind us and complained to the rangers that we be reprimanded because we weren't playing the 90 degree rule. Funny thing, neither were they. Understand it's their course but you'd think they would lead by example. Wont be returning Thanks to everyone else who made the 7.5 holes a great memory. Hope our play satisfied the owners on the last 1.5 holes

It just keeps getting better! My third time playing here,…read morethe last was 3 years ago. The weather forecast was sketchy, it rained from Forest City all the way in. I arrived about 40 min before my tee time & Scott was able to assist with loading my bag on the cart. Todd checked me in & said that it had rained steady early but they were in a 'window' where he believed I could get in 18 holes & not be soaked. There were a number of cancellations so I had no one in front or behind me except for a single who played through. A light misty rain on the front but by the turn it was lighter. So easy to access the club house. restaurant and bathroom to make a quick turn. That roast beef sammy grab n go at the Garden hit the spot. Overall conditions were fine just a few holes where the greens were spotty looking & the tee boxes were a little over used but for he most part, it was good. Evidently they had not had any rain for weeks until the Memorial Day monsoon when I played. I carded a 78 from the forward tees, one stroke better than my personal best. I was able to walk around the greens like a pro on tour and make some putts. On #18, Par 5, I just missed an Eagle by a foot! Not too shabby for a Super Senior. Sadly had to cancel my Saturday round at Apple Valley Course, just two miles up the road, standing water in the fairways and tee boxes.
