This is a shoemakers dream. Unlike most mountain courses, this one does not attempt to be so hard it can't be mastered. With a mountain stream running through its entirety bad shots are paid for in golf balls and added strokes. Most courses in the area are dishearteningly difficult with holes carved out if the side of a 45 degree slope. Check out the pictures and you will agree Linville Falls is a great course! Give them your business. 5 star friendly. The clubhouse is not fully stocked and that's the only downfall. I would have bought swag if they had any that's how much I like this course! I played Satruday afternoon and it was only $40.00. The greens played much slower than I expected since the course was apparently dry, but there were low lying areas in some fairways still holding water. The water hazards on the course are in the form of lateral creeks that run throughout the property. The ranger did a great job of getting everyone out onto the course on time, but a second ranger monitoring speed of play might have helped. The first nine took two and a half hours. I was by myself, there was a two-some in front of me, a three-some in front of them (with one walking), and I could see that they were at times waiting on the tee for whoever was in front of them. It was a great day to play golf in short sleeves under a partly cloudy sky. The fairways should come on and green up in the next several weeks.

I went to the course and personally made reservations for the next day and stated that I am playing solo, so far so good. The next day I showed up 30 minutes early and found out they do not have a driving range but they offered me the chip and putt area. The clerk understood that I was playing solo so I paid for the round. It was after I paid he told me that since I was playing alone that I would be forced to pair up with two complete strangers. This is the first course that has ever sprung this on me. I have limited time, like to play alone to work on shots and had no desire to be paired up with possible hacks chasing balls all day. I gave them the benefit of the doubt by going back to review their website for any disclosures regarding this practice and could find none. They did give me a refund but they wasted my time on the only day that I had for golf. Therefore, I did not get to experience mountain golf. Please beware of this surprise practice if you are visiting and decide to play solo.

I definitely was Impressed with the holes we played and plan to play a full round in the future. The holes we did manage to get in were great, the course was in great shape before the rain and the greens provided true putts but they were challenging. I wish there was less development and it was a bit more isolated but this is a premium home site and I can see why one would love to have a home around this track. I don't think you will be disappointed of you choose to play here. The rates were very reasonable also.
