There is one thing that puzzles me whenever I go traveling. Why is that I always see lots of Dunk*n Donuts but none in Hong Kong? So I looked it up and surprisingly, we did have them before but sadly all closed down for some reason. It is not like we Hong Kong people do not have a thing for dessert, ask any girls on the street and they will be jumping up and down in excitement if they hear about a new dessert place coming to town. So apparently donuts did not work. How about cupcakes?
Personally I adore cupcakes as they are petite and I can have my dose of sugar for the day and devour them guilt-free. So I was rather ecstatic when I saw Twelves Cupcakes here. Twelves Cupcakes was originally from Singapore and it opened two shops in Hong Kong around the same time in late 2013. The décor is rather simple with white bricks on the wall. There aren't that many tables so I suppose people come here mainly for take-away.
You can have a look at all the cupcakes they have to offer in the display cabinet. Every day they will change certain cupcakes to keep customers coming. For me, Red Velvet and Rainbow Vanilla are the best ones with cream cheese on top and a little red heard or sprinkles as decoration. They all taste very savory and creamy. However I would love them to be a bit more buttery.
Cupcakes might not be as huge as macaroons in Hong Kong but I do see lots of potentials here as they are sweet and who does not love some sweetness in the middle of the day anyways? So come along and grab some here for your loved-ones and let them tell you how they feel about it! read more
