This place has always been great! We have been customers for the last 10 years. Unfortunately we had a bad experience with Nick (Bartender) at the pool. Apparently he was having a bad day and decided to take it on us. He claimed we were splashing and too loud. We were not splashing nor loud. We were a group of about 10 all family talking to each other. Nick called our attention on a very rude way. Everyone at the pool was surprised with his attitude. We loved the pools, outdoor food and drinks and the ambiance. The pool employees were all friendly as were the front desk employees. The manager, on the other hand was very rude and curt. She made us feel like we didn't belong here. Asking for pool towels was all it took. Love this place. Can't believe it was the manager that was the rudest of all staff. They used to have a huge buffet breakfast , got cut to a continental , now nothing NADA So the prices went up? What am I getting extra ? Not food since you took that away , you haven't made any upgrades or done any remodeling ( except the pool which you close off for special guests so why even have it ) Have to pay for towels , chairs , etc. nothing here except overprice dirty rooms Not coming back. THIS REVIEW IS ONLY FOR THE RESTAURANT - THE OLD CAPTIVA HOUSE Having been coming to Sanibel & Captiva for years, yet not dining on Captiva in a while, we decided to give an old reliable a visit as we never had a bad experience in the past at the Old Captiva House. Wow, have things changed. Making a reservation for 6 on a Wednesday night was pretty simple as they were not fully booked, and I quickly realized why it was not so busy. We sat down almost immediately, and then continued to wait and wait (and wait) until the server came by to take our drink order. It was a good 15 minutes after we sat down before we even were able to put a drink order in. Not a good sign. After a little while longer (and asking if there were any specials as they were not offered up by the server until we asked), we were almost ready to make a decision, but we asked for a few more minutes to decide. Big mistake. The server vanished into thin air. When he finally returned again, we placed our order. 2 in our party ordered the Lobster Ravioli when they informed that the kitchen had probably run out. This information would have been helpful when we were told (sorry, asked) about the specials. But after some more shuffling around by the server to the kitchen we were informed that there was 1 order of the ravioli left. We will revisit those ravioli in a few seconds... The light at the end of the tunnel was the crab bisque was good. But how can you screw up crab meat, cream and butter? But then everything else was just really sub par. I had the Halibut that was so dry that I could barely choke it down. Way over cooked and just awful. And I was not the only one that had an awful meal. Back to the ravioli...so the plate comes out, and there were 4 (yes FOUR) lobster ravioli on the plate. 6? Maybe would be good. But 4? Come on. It was clear that they had run out and there was barely an order left in the kitchen. If you don't have enough to serve a customer, just take it off the menu for the night. Nope, not this place. They served 4 raviolis and the kicker was it was $30! Really? $30 for 4 ravioli? They should be ashamed of themselves. But this is what you get when your main customers are people on vacation. What an embarrassment. Everything got better when we went down the street for a few slices of Bubble Room cake to take home for dessert. 5 slices of cake were the same price as the 4 lobster ravioli. And if you know anything about their slices of cake, that is a deal and a half. Skip this place if you can. There are much better options in the area. Try Timbers or Traders. Both top notch and worth the price of a meal. read more

Such a great location for a hotel. Located on a 300 yard strip of land between the Gulf and the back bay, this place has everything. Easy beach access, rental boats in the back, great swimming people, shuffle board, tennis courts, a bar and restaurant. What else do you really need on vacation? We showed up late without a reservation and they only had a cottage available. I've read the iffy reviews about the rooms but I must say that the cottage was great. Nice porch. Everything was clean. Small but usable kitchen. 100 yards from the Gulf. It was great. Expensive but worth it. The front desk was very friendly and helpful. Overall it was a positive experience. read more

This place is fantastic. The rooms are big and seem to have been recently renovated, and the staff are the best. From check in to check out, to the small problem we had with our fridge, the staff was professional, friendly, and prompt. Our room was in the Mangrove building, and but anywhere would work. The food was pretty good (unless you get the pizza - it is NOT good), and drinks not too pricey. Location is right across the street (like 50 steps) from the Gulf, and it was quiet, good clientele, no riff raff, and the free breakfast was just fine. Fresh fruit, bagels, yogurt, cereal, and fresh juices. They gave me a $50.00 credit if I wanted to come back next year, and definitely will. read more

There must be a complete vacancy in the manager department because the staff wondered round looking for something or nothing to do. No. I wasn't expecting a place like this. pictures make it look like the four seasons, but in reality it's a motel 6. everyone on my trip (22 people) got bedbugs. the rooms are freezing cold. the maids bang on the door at 6 am and waits 2 seconds before opening the door even though we had the do not disturb sign up. paid $77 for food at the snack bar. the crows nest staff is rude. also there is nothing to do on this island. beach is nice but that's about it. read more

The Tween Waters Inn is like a member of the family... An eccentric, dirty member of the family. My ex-wife and I actually spent a feww days here on our honeymoon... Beautiful beaches. Seedy hotel rooms that are reminiscent of a low-grade Howard Johnsons. The bar is nice but expect to pay mucho dinero for s few drinks. The pool bar rocks- great daiquiris. Usually a silly-sized group of middle-of-the-day drunks at the bar... Mostly a fun time... Watch out for the few local letchers trying to score with tourists.. A bit creepy. My suggestion? Nice rustic Inn. Rooms are cozy, overlooking the bay. The moment we arrived, we were greeted by the lady (sorry didn't catch her name) at the front desk, she was very pleasant and caring to our needs. The complimentary continental breakfast was good... you can buy eggs, toast, bacon and potatoes for $8.00 (I thought was reasonable). You can catch the sunset across the street. I liked how you can order your drink to go to catch the sunset. Didn't like that the parking was pretty hard at times. read more

This was our first stay at Tween Waters. Our room was clean, but very basic. My disappointment was the $25 per day resort fee. I believe a resort that charges a daily resort fee should not charge you $25 a day for a beach chair. Even though they advertise free WiFi, it is dead slow. Usable WiFi is $8 per day. Service was friendly. Food was decent; but, somewhat expensive and there are limited menu choices. For example, they offered an Italian buffet for $37pp. Some rooms have assigned parking, while ours did not. Without an assigned parking spot, parking can become problematic. Bottom line: I doubt if we will return. read more

Had a horrible experience with this place when trying to book my first vacation after Covid. Flights got canceled due to a hurricane so I called the hotel and they refused to refund my deposit despite there being a hurricane. The manager I spoke to was rude and unprofessional and said she would contact me regarding possibly being able to move my reservation to a later date. Never heard back from this woman and at that point I was done dealing with this place as I had made multiple prior calls. I didn't do much research on this pace prior to booking as my friend actually made the reservation but in reading some reviews it sounds dirty and just not the place I would typically stay at anyway. I'm sure it may be fine once you get there but my personal experience was horrible and this manger I spoke to was just awful. Would not recommend if you don't want to be treated like dirt should something completely out of your control force you to change your plans. read more

This is about the Hotel. We loved it!!!. Our room seemed recently remodeled. Very clean. Nice view of the ocean and beach. Very relaxing sand in your toes kind of place. The rates were good for the area. They're having a special for their 80 anniversary. They gave us an $80.00 gift card for food on the property. (we stayed three nights). We used the gift card for the Old Captiva House, a nice restaurant on the property and we were very impressed with the dinner. The free breakfast was ok a little up scale from other free breakfast with hotels but not great. We spent a few hours on a kayak tour with a guide (I think his name was Calvin). He was very knowledgeable and friendly. It was wonderful, we got close and personal with the manatees. We will definitely be back!!! read more

Nice old resort on beautiful Captiva island. I would give 5 stars but they are renovating the second pool and tennis courts and it won't be ready until spring 2017. They didn't post that on any websites. The rooms were clean and updated but some of the outside isn't. They have a great pool bar with food and drinks. all and all a nice place on a quiet island. It was a decent very basic resort. The rooms were clean with basic amenities. The red tide kept us from the beach which was a big downer for our trip. We tried to find things to do, but going to the pool everyday and riding bikes into town gets a bit rhetorical. They have 3 restaurants with very limited menus. I couldn't stand to eat at the pool bar one more day. They really need to expand their menus. We tried to go parasailing and they canceled our flight 30 minutes before due to an oversight of an employee. I believe this is a short stay facility. We stayed Saturday to Saturday and it was far too long of a stay. Maybe If the resort had more to offer we wouldn't have been so ready to go home. read more

DO NOT STAY HERE Overall it was a nice hotel, great location, but TERRIBLE accomodations and customer service. A drunk driver had hit a utility pole around 7 p.m. knocking out the power on the entire island and also blocked the only road off the island for the entire night. (power wasn't restored until about 6 a.m.) I completely understand this was out of the hotels control but it was almost like they could care less. The entire island was pitch black, not one employee reached out to me or stopped by our room to make sure we were okay and to see if we needed anything. I had to walk myself down to the office (in pitch black) and asked what I was suppose to do. The management had NO response, NO plan of action, no emergency generators, nothing. I had to literally demand a flashlight. Not to mention the hotel SOLD OUT that night and charged other people stranded on the island FULL PRICE for rooms with no electricity. COMPLETE JOKE Convienently the resorts "fine dining" restaurant was the only building with power on the island i was aware of (go figure) so with literally no other options we went there and had a nice $180 dinner bill for two. Wasn't offered a discount on my meal or anything complimentary. The next morning I went to the office to speak with the manager (he refused to give me his name) but was very tall and had red hair, well call him ginger boy. I paid $270 for the night and was forced to sit in complete darkness 7 p.m. - 6 a.m. with a flashlight and dead cell phone. Ginger boy offered to SELL me another room for $200 a complimentary $70 discount (when our room wasn't booked again for another 2 nights) and had the audacity to offer me the standand "$100" coupon book ($5 off jet ski rentals ect.) and anything besides that was "out of their control". Then when I questioned if I could have the dinner complimentary he quote on quote said "Did anybody force you to eat there, sir?" ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?! read more

Worst place on Captiva! Parents had to move rooms due to German roaches throughout the room, rooms claimed to be remodeled, but was not. Very deceiving about food, as the kitchen was under remodeling, but still charged for shuttle to town. Parking is a mess, car was damaged and the GM does not care. Don't get me wrong, the island is lovely in itself. But at this resort not all of the staff was great. The lady checking us in wasnt personable & seemed like she wanted us out before we were in & same lady was rude about us asking for pool towels. One of our pool servers on our fourth day was rude. She snatched some of our personal things off the table when she came over to take our order. Literally tried tossing a brand new beer id gotten from the 'adult' pool bar & scolded us because "no outside food is allowed" yet there were no signs stating and we literally had chips n cheeze its, additionally we had full meals and anywhere from 4-6 drinks every day PER PERSON at the pool & no one else said anything over the snacks. She was the only staff without a name badge to top it off. She brought other tables their food before ours. We never split the bills & overly tipped everyone too well with every new tab that was open esp since the coronavirus was the hype of the week/ month & we knew money would become tight for the service industry yet still got treated like outsiders, side eyes were given for literally everything. Food was good but not exceptional. Def the kind of place where those put their nose in the air at the sight of a brown person. With that our room had a nice view but I think I was given the dirtiest & least upgraded room they had (photos can speak for themselves). No microwave. Sliding patio doors needed more grease than anyone could supply on the island & all the doors seemed that way bc we could hear our neighbors from the water bank step out on their patios. The first night our ac wouldn't get cold on 65° when they "fixed" it it wouldn't warm up at 77°. The outside was outdated and needed a paint update at minimum but could def use a much needed upgrade for what is charged per night. For the $, never again. Just get an airbnb at one of the beautiful mansions on the island. read more

This place sucks. You pay top dollar here and you get absolutely no service. When they may never showed up to our room, yes at the front desk and she told us that we don't get daily maid service. Whoever heard of paying $450 a night I'm not getting any maid service? It's ridiculous! Also we are on the second floor with a lot of baggage and a dog, and there's a sign on the elevator posted that the elevator is not working. Isn't that a code violation? What about people who have a lot of luggage I need an elevator? This is an excusable for top dollar hotel. When I asked about when they're fixing the elevator, A girl at the front desk just laughed and said "I'll get on it". So if you're coming here don't look for an elevator I don't expect to get clean towels every day or your bed made. Even have posted inside his room that they have daily needs service which will make your bed but only provide linens if you leave a note on the bed. They never came to our room all day. For the same day booking price, this was awesome. Simple but super cute ocean facing room was islandy and cozy, even if the outside of the building a bit weathered. The staff was very attentive, and I am happy to report that they generally adhered to masking and safety protocols. The location is perfect for beach access and I used a loaned resort bike to see the island. I had a great poolside cocktail with no crowd. I ordered take out brunch which was delicious and reasonable and the restaurant staff was so sweet... and masked! If I can't rent a house, I would absolutely stay here again. read more

The inn is very nice Old Florida. We rented a house there for a wedding. Because of coved we had to postpone the price almost doubled. The house was nice but service was terrible. Had to beg maids daily to empty trash,leave clean towel's and make the beds. Keurg coffee maker was provided but only 4 k cups for 7 guests had to go to office every day to get more,oh and only 1 flavor samatra. Food at crows nest was cold service was terrible. This was a location my friends and family visited for years! A true staple of the local beach community. Over the past few times we have visted, it has gotten worse and worse. From clueless front desk staff to the poor management during 'holiday events'. We are dont visiting TW until things are changed. Below are some of the recent adventures we had this xmas season. Clueless Front Desk Staff: 1. We checked in on day 1 to a clueless front desk kid who took 2 credit cards for one family room. We told him this was a family trip, our parents were covering all rooms on 1 credit card. He insisted that we give two cards, since there were two cabins. Ya know for those incidentals. I asked him what incidentals. He had no clue how to explain it. There is no room service, no resort fees, no special anything, what incidentals was he talking about? Nothing I could see to justify their $25 "fee" per night. Maybe he thought we would steal their towels? So anyway, I gave my card because they said "We will not charge this card, its just to verify". A few days later, they removed $600+ from my account. They kept saying it was a "verification" but it didn't make sense. The rooms were $3k for the trip (which we had almost paid for prior to arriving, as a deposit) and they randomly removed cash from our accounts during the trip. I think people are massively stealing from them or running out on bills. Not really sure, but their paranoia for "we need to prove you have the money" makes you feel like a dummy college kid on spring break, not a guy bringing his family on a luxury trip. This card they charged of mine, was a special card i set up for the trip. For special events, rentals..etc. Now that they charged this, it left this account in the negative and on xmas day, I had no extra spending money for my family and I on the island. It is now 4 days later and I am back home and their "cancellation" of this charge still hasn't gone through and I am out $600 still. Informing the front desk was pointless. They had no clue what they were doing. 2. Loud tractors/rental vehicles: Tween waters is now letting vendors store their rentals on their property i guess. Each morning at around 7am this massive tractor would drive outside our window with their jet skis to take them to the beach for rental. Smashing and clanking while they loaded and unloaded. 3. Super expensive pool bar: My wife and I had some partially watered down drinks for $12. We asked them to split their large hot dog, since my wife and I only wanted half each. We looked on the bill after, they charge us $1 to cut it in half. Classy, super laid back beach move guys! sigh 4. Gym Process: Their gym is struggling. Messy and old looking. I went to plug in my iphone to charge while working out and almost died due to the plug i was about to use, having shards of a previous charger in it and it sitting there sparking, waiting for the kill. Dirt, cobwebs and metal shards in it. Getting into the gym is an adventure too. You cant just use your room key. You have to take your room key to the front office and have a 'special gym activation' done to it in order to enter the epic, dirty outdated gym. 5. Crab Races: This is something my friends and I went to for years. The MC is an old angry dude who is always pissed and dancing on the edge of getting knocked out. We know he is doing a "role play" thing, but at times he needs to chill. Im surprised he still has all of his teeth. We knew this MC was a nightmare on the adult show, and we now have kids. So we went to the "Kids" show. This version of his show is almost the same. Still amazingly rude to people and now hes making the kids just feel odd. 6. "Snow" event: They had a few dirty broken snow machines that went on for a few secs, then went off. Total let down and this shouldn't have been marketed as an "event" in their promotions. Bottom line, the once charming, gorgeous Tween Waters is now a mess. Dirty property, nasty rooms with broken furniture and outdated equipment. Nothing special or charming about this place anymore. From what I have hear, some big company purchased this property years ago and they are just running it into the ground. I barely have the space on yelp to mention our broken bbq, broken doors in the room and us now itching from bed bugs. Its sad to say, but we will not be returning to tween waters. RIP read more

This used to be one of my favorite places to stay on the Island. I called around 9:30am this morning to say my a/c had stopped working, its now 7:40pm and no one has showed up yet. Did I mention its 80 degrees outside...and we have called twice. Also every morning at 8am a pickup truck parks under my Lanai and workers start talking loudly while I'm trying to enjoy my morning coffee and the Ocean view. Then there is the construction on the new pool. Their breakfast buffet used to be better, I have food allergies, all I can eat is fruit and the awful tasting yogurt. Not coming back. read more

My wife, daughter and I stayed here over Thanksgiving week and we will be making this an annual tradition. It's perfectly located between the bay and the Gulf, and the suite we stayed in was reasonably priced and situated so you could leave the sliding doors to your screened-in deck open at night to fall asleep to the sound of the surf. Beautiful pool and pool-side bar both adult and kid-friendly. Great discounts if you stay for 7 nights or more. My family and I used to LOVE this place. We've been coming to captiva every thanksgiving since the 1980s, and Tween Waters has never disappointed us. Their Christmas tree lighting ceremony used to be the most magical, charming experience... suddenly it's a crowded, drunken mess. The food that used to be so great is now mediocre at best. It does not resemble a resort in any way except the price. Thin walls, small rooms, limited food on site, overall disgusting. Waterview was a dock and some shrubs. When family above woke up so did we, including every open and closing of door to screened in seating area for two. Why would a family be placed above 2 adults? Three nights too long and a waste to travel so far for a motel. Women's bathroom at pool out of soap during entire stay until we reported. Shower by pool was a trickle and sand from beach accumulated below and never swept away. High priced pool bar drinks that were weak. read more

This place is fabulous, it is an old resort and has a very nice café right by the pool. You can see the boats come in and dock and you can just walk across the street to the beach. I have stayed her many times over the years and it never disappoints. Great family thing to do is the Nascrab races on Monday night, great fun for the entire family. read more
