Absolutely a disorganized class. The instructors kept flaking and my daughter and many others were stranded outside. Happened during winter cold weather. Imagine dressing up your daughter only to find out when you get there for 15min in cold that the class has been canceled. Two of those instances we could not get a hold of anyone and gave up. My daughter just started at tutu school and she loves it. She's one of the younger toddlers in the class and I catch her observing the older girls a lot. It's the cutest thing! We love Tutu School! My daughter loooves Miss Julianne, she is so gentle and calm and great at leading the kids. We've met many of the other teachers and they are all great too! She loves learning new moves and dancing around at home, showing me first position, etc. As a parent I love: It's flexible; if you miss a class you can schedule a makeup- no problem. They offer day camps during school breaks and they're amazing. They are inclusive of all genders. I have noticed my daughter grow as far as strength, flexibility, coordination, focus and determination! They play classical music with a sprinkling of other "fun" instrumental music like Frozen, and they end every class by reading a book and taking a coloring sheet home of the chapter they read. The school has been very responsive and welcoming. Their policies and protocols have been clear and fair. Miss Haley is attentive, patient, and consistent with all the students. However, being one of the few families of color, it has been challenging as the many of the other students are not as inclusive to my child. It's challenging to find a dance school for kids under 5 and have diverse, accepting communities. I do not want this experience to effect her love of dance and her self esteem. Terrible management. We began in 3-4 year old class and the teacher clearly wasn't good w working w this young of age. Teacher had unrealistic expectations for children's behavior and was using punitive methods to get the kids to behave (taking away free dance time or bubbles etc). She would call out certain girls over and over in class. The rehearsal each week for bravo bash became a stressor in class bc this is when the girls were expected to pay attention the most. I sent management an email about the concerns I had with the teacher and class discipline, weeks went by w no response. I emailed again and they said they had received feedback that was it. No apologies or explanations. In addition the school teacher one time no showed and another time came late. read more

She has grown in her movement skills (galloping, skipping, etc), ability to follow directions from teachers, and respect for others in a class setting. When you first sign up, you'll receive unlimited classes. This was great because we could find a time and teacher we both liked. We're fans of miss Julianne and Mr Jose, but all the teachers are great and have their own unique approach to teaching ballet. Class size can ebb and flow during seasons. The cost is reasonable. Plus, there are months during the year when they offer unlimited classes for all students. Parking garage is across the street and validation is offered, which makes getting to class much easier. I Just tried this school for the 1st time a friend of mine had a good experience, the studio is cute and clean. This was a 10:30am-11:15am age group 18month to I think 2yrs or 3yrs old. Small kids, my daughter was very curious of the room and honestly her 1st instucturall class, we came in she had coloring set up ok cool get them started until my kids come but it end up be me my daughter and another mom and her possible 18mo, then after that she did story time swan princess, ok this book isn't really age appropriate in my opinion. My child didn't really want to sit but she kept putting emphasis on this pink dot for them to stay that's fine to but maybe an excercise to introduce them to the dot and its importance in class. My daughter had no interest in the pink dot. We did some stretching activities which could have been modified to make it my fun for toddlers. Overall I feel kids in this class are small more moving and dancing in group settings and most important a patient instuctor, yes my child is 2 and kept moving around the room, I don't want to feel your frustration or a slight attitude.wont be going back but it may work for another parent and child, this class made me see my child need tumbling or soccer more active activity. read more

They also did not offer classes to make-up from missing class.In Tutu school, all the teachers are great and help each student individually if needed because of the small class size. We had our daughter in Tutu School at Montclair for several months. She liked her teacher, and enjoyed the games and fairy tale stories in each class, but the dancing instruction seemed to not progress and was highly repetitive. Without a little something new, she got bored and didn't focus as much. It is partially just her age, but we stopped for now and are searching for other schools that might challenge and engage her more. read more

Both my 4 year old and 2 1/2 year old have been attending Tutu School since they were 18 months old. They LOVEEEEEEE attending and look forward to their classes every week! They've both been involved with other activities such as swimming and soccer as well as gymnastics however they have shifted their interests in those activities at times and wanting to stop for a bit but NEVER here. The tutu school supports their imaginations of being princesses twirling and leaping and dancing like a butterfly. They at times get to act out how a frog, unicorn or giraffe may dance or learn how to count in French. The best part is the recitals twice a year. Both of my toddlers have gained confidence to be on a huge stage performing in front of over a hundred people simply because of being a part of the Tutu School. Also things happen but it's so easy to make up classes and the class schedule is easily found online.
