We came to them with a very challenging situation: my son needed to raise his ACT score to a 24 in just two weeks in order to qualify for his ROTC scholarship. It felt almost impossible. In only two weeks, Jason helped raise my son's score by 5 points -- enough to meet the requirement. He went above and beyond, making time to work with my son as often as possible and providing focused, strategic support. My son was fully committed, and together they exceeded our expectations. Unfortunately, on the day of the test, my son came down with the flu and had a 102-degree fever, so he was unable to take it. Excellent. They helped both of our girls in tough AP classes junior and senior years of high school. Jason was very helpful in finding the right tutors for their various classes. He even helped one of them prepare for a scholarship interview for a private college and was awarded the full-tuition scholarship! Both girls did very well in their classes and on their AP exams, and the Tutoring Club helped make that happen. They also helped with test prep for SAT and ACT tests. I got ghosted! I reached out to tutoring club to get my daughter some support in school. She has straight A's, but every so often needs tutoring to better understand a subject and or concept. They assessed her and then scheduled a meeting on a later date (apparently the owner wasn't there). When i came back for the "follow up" appointment i waited 40 minutes past my appointment time. When i finally met with Jason, he said that my daughter was really behind (not at grade level). He recommend that she attend two times a week to get her caught up. I let Jason know that I would discuss this with my family and would get back to him. I reached out to my daughter's teachers, and they assured me that she was where she needed to be. I sent Jason an email thanking him for his recommendation, but stated we were not interested in the program, just the tutoring portion. It's been 1 week and still no response. read more

We totally love tutor club ! My son started going to tutor club since has was 5 years old . He is now almost 9 years old. I can really say its totally worth it. He is struggling with reading before . Few days ago i got a letter from the school that i will have to attend to my son school recognition day and that he will be receiving an academic award. We are so ecstatic about it. I was very disappointed with my 11 year old son's experience- especially for what the cost is. I thought I was paying for 1 on1 tutoring but that is not what he got. We did a lengthy assessment but then the first tutoring session was an assessment as well - no tutoring happened at all. I asked the owner about it but he said that's how it works. They wanted me to buy a large package in advance and when I wanted to only buy a few sessions they seemed to lose interest. They might be good for test prep for older kids but we honestly got nothing out of it. We started back to school and my son is no better at math than before we went to Tutoring Club. read more

I used Tutoring Club for my daughter for SAT prep. She has ADHD and they worked with her on her study habits and time management. They go above & beyond just teaching the material but instilling good habits and process. My daughter actually loved going to tutoring and they even started to help her with her normal courses. She finished her senior year with a 4.0 and increased her SAT scores by several hundred points. She is currently in college and has a 3.8 gpa and is still utilizing the things they taught her. read more

Jerry is a very good salesman and likes to make you think he has the kids best interest at heart. I do not recommend this place for anyone younger than 12 unless they are out spoken. My daughter is very quiet, won't talk unless spoken too. I was paying good money for her to have hands on tutoring. My daughter was given work sheets and just sat there and did them by herself was not taught very much at all. I could've given her work sheets at home but the whole point was for someone other than mom to teach her. I then went to Jerry for a refund for the sessions we did not use because this was not what I signed up for and Jerry promised it would be next day after trying to convince me in a million ways to stay with the tutoring club and continued to mention how much this was going to hurt his bank account. I felt he was very unprofessional after a couple months of contacting the company that was financing my tutoring plan and there being no refund yet. I was even more frustrated. The finance company says Jerry does this often and avoids calls and emails and they were going to consider not doing business with the tutoring club anymore! I highly suggest just bringing your kids to the library if they need a quiet place to study and do worksheets because this is not worth the money for younger children. It's great for homework help for older kids but I still would not consider it tutoring by any means. Yes my child was here for several months we gave them the benefit of the doubt. Oh also forgot to mention a case were my daughter refused to go back because a tutor laughed at her and said "how do you not know that." I called Jerry very respectfully to see if we can resolve the issue and he refused that his tutor ever did that. I asked him if he thought my child would just make stuff up? He screamed on the phone to me that I was insulting his best tutor!! Very very unprofessional! A 7 year old speaks up because she wants her feelings to be heard and validated not to be called a lier! Just say I don't know if that happened but I'm sorry it will never happened again! Do not scream at a concerned parent on the phone than try and sweet talk me out of my refund. read more

I enrolled my son and then my daughter at Tutoring Club of Valencia. My wife and I did this over the past few years. Jerry and his team did a great job in welcoming our family and my kids into their program. They were helped mostly in math, but also on overall test-taking skills/strategies. My son was accepted into several colleges on the East Coast and into their Engineering programs. He was awarded some academic scholarships and picked his favorite school, which he now attends. My daughter has wrapped up her tutoring and she too has already been accepted into some great schools and with more college acceptances expected soon. Wow! The owner's comment to my review really shows his professionalism. Not only can he not take criticism, but he has to make fun of the way I wrote my review (It was not concise, and I did not edit my last review. However, I did have a lot of details of my experience. My first review, which he made me take down, had even more details. This was not meant to be given to an educator for a grade.). If he's going to bad mouth me, a former customer, I have to wonder how he may talk about other people who may have expressed dissatisfaction with the service. Anyhow, feel free to call him to inquire about his services. However, take anything that he may say about me with a grain of salt. Obviously, I can't be there to speak on my own behalf, so don't pay any attention to my "story". Given that he is angry about my previous review (and judging by his comment to that review), who knows what he may say about me. As far as the refund issue goes, if he does give refunds, that didn't happen when I was there. I basically got the equivalent to store credit. I remember when I asked him about getting a refund, he actually said, "I don't do refunds." He may not remember that, but I do. If I did get a refund, why would I even bring it up? I also know of another customer who also complained about not getting a refund, however, that review has since been taken down. So, who knows? Like I said, see for yourself, but if he talks about me, keep in mind that he is angry with me, so he may not have many nice things to say. read more

I had my child attend this place for more than a year. The owner very polite and persuasive. A good salesman. However, my son, a junior now, started receiving tutoring with grades of "B"s in math at the of his quarters, and he ended up receiving "C"s in spite of the help he was supposed to be receiving and all the hard work, practice I saw him do at home. My son ended up hospitalized and couldn't continue with tutoring. I asked for a refund on the remaining tutoring sessions I paid for ahead of time (they make you buy a bunch of sessions upfront). The owner ignored me, then promised he'd send me a check the following day, but didn't. I called him, I emailed him and after 4 months of me asking (and then threatening to get an attorney involved), he finally sent me a very small amount of the money I was owed. When I asked why they wouldn't give me the full amount I was owed, they told me that tuition is non-refundable; that's their policy. I offered to send them proof of my son's long-term hospitalization. They didn't care. (I have all of this in writing, since most of our communication was through email. I am considering sending the emails to the Better Business Bureau.) So bottom line, send your kids here if you know for sure that they will never end up with an unexpected hospitalization or another emergency. I am honestly disgusted with how these people handled our situation. Since then, I have spoken with other families who have had their kids attend this tutoring program and they all agreed that the owner is just a salesmen who makes everyone think he's giving them a special discount and special treatment, but in the end everyone ends up (over)paying the same. There are much better, more ethical tutoring places in our area and I will choose to support those from now on. read more

My daughter hates going here, which must be a good thing as success is rarely easy or fun. 4 stars for that. However, a 5th Star will be reserved for when (or if) all this expensive tutoring will pay off in the sense that I can retire early and she will get a super high paying job and make enough money support Mom and Dad. The staff and tutors at the Tutoring Club are phenomenal. My oldest daughter went to the Tutoring Club for help with Physics, Pre-Calculus and ACT training. We had brought my daughter in because despite a great amount of effort and expending too much time, she was turning in partial assignments or not turning them in at all which caused her grades to drop to concerning levels. We knew she was grasping the material but the follow through and organization were not there. We decided to bring her in to Tutoring Club and within a couple months of working with her, she was reading at a higher level, had a better command over what she read, enjoys reading & completing her work, organizing herself/her work, and she was earning straight A's. Wow after having my son in this program now for a little over seven months. What an advancement in his education. My son is now six years old and in first grade. I came here because my son was having a difficult time in kindergarten. His teacher even hinted towards holding him back.
