Tuscany Grill While visiting Robinson on an extended business trip, we had the pleasure of eating at the Tuscany Grill on several occasions. We were able to try them for breakfast and dinner. The wait staff was always friendly and helpful. The meals were provided hot, fresh, and in a timely manner. Breakfast was the typical fare of eggs, bacon/sausage, omelets, pancakes, etc. Dinners included a mix of typical Italian food, mixed in with a good selection of typical comfort dishes. I had the Carbonara on one trip - excellent. The second dinner included the fried fish, also quite tasty. Prices were very reasonable, too. read more

Pro-tip: pay cash to avoid the credit card service fee. Ordered a grilled chicken breast and a side of mashed potatoes from Tuscany Grill the other night. The portion was HUGE (as evidenced by my photo), and the taste of the chicken was something I've never had before. It definitely wasn't bland. The mashed potatoes were a little dry, but I didn't have them with gravy so perhaps that's why. I wish they had more available sides - it seems like everything is potatoes. But all in all Tuscany Grill produces a great, filling, tasty chicken breast (you HAVE to have the sautéed mushrooms it comes with!!). I will definitely eat here again when I'm in town! read more

Robinson IL is a small town, they don't have many options of where to go for a good lunch. Tuscany Grill is one of the places you will want to go while your in Robinson. The place doesn't look like much on the outside, however the food makes up for that. The staff there is very friendly, polite, and attentive your needs. I would recommend the Penne with pink sauce, I added grilled chicken to it and it was very tasty. The sauce was really good, and the chicken was really juice. The chef omelet was huge, it was very filling. The country fried steak with with gravy & mash potatoes was really enjoyable. I will definitely return to when I am back in Robinson. read more

Brought my son to the restaurant this morning. It isn't very often that I complain about prices, but today is the exception. Today I ordered a short stack of waffles, 2 cups of chocolate milk, a coffee and a fruit bowl. My bill at the end was $25. Let's talk about that for a minute: over $4 for chocolate milk over $3 for 5 pieces of fruit. I realize that we are in a difficult economy, but comeon' and I do and always will tip the waitresses well because your servers are excellent. The wait was terrible from the get go. It took at least 5 minutes for anyone to come up to us to start with and then longer to be seated. My elderly mother was not happy with her food and sent it back. They basically said it was her problem and made us pay for the dinner she had two bites of. Ate here during our week long stay. We had also ate here 2 years ago and the food was ok then so we felt it would be a decent choice. This time not so much. Out of the 4 of us there wasn't anyone that said this was good. Good was greasy, flavorless and just not good. Service was sub par to rude to say the least. Robinson is a small, rather isolated town with a Marathon refinery at one end and a Hershey's chocolate factory at the other. One hopes that there is not a product pipeline from the former that provides ingredients to the latter. The Tuscany Grill is located behind the Best Western Hotel (where used up towels from proper hotels go to die) and is sufficiently good that I went there both nights I was in town. The menu is varied and on my first visit I opted for liver and onions. After a warming bowl of soup, a ridiculous quantity of liver and onions arrived, accompanied by a separate plate of fries. It's a reflection of how good it was that I ate it all. Entrees include a small scoop of ice cream to round things out. On my second visit I ordered one of the specials, BBQ pork chops. These were good, but not outstanding, being a little over cooked. The accompanying veggies were also somewhat overcooked. The BBQ sauce was tasty, but sweeter than I like. I had saved enough room to try the Italian Cream Cake, or so I thought... most of it ended up as breakfast the following morning. I rate the cake dry but tasty. Service is generally good. My only observation is that there's an almost continuous stream of staff asking you how you're doing, which is a tad bit distracting but way better than getting no attention. IF you stayed in the town, you might think it a 5 star place. Compare it to the Midwest, I found it to be ok -good. The salad was wilted and I found my self picking out the crummy lettuce that looked nasty. The parmesan cheese arrived after the salad was done. generic pepper shaker. When one thinks of Tuscany they think of Italy. while this establishment does have Italian inspired dishes it also explores a marionette of ethnicities from around the world. None of which is executed with much precision and care. The decor is reminiscent of an out of date buffet and is just that. On the plus side, the staff were very nice and attentive. We were a table of six and three of us had veggies on the side. We all agreed they came from a can or frozen veggies. Not much on the table seemed made from scratch but at such a low cost one cannot complain. I cannot remember the last time I left a sit down restaurant for ten dollars on a full entire meal. This restaurant is right behind the biggest motel in Robinson, so my husband and I decided to avoid any possibility of a motel breakfast and eat here, instead. It's open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, but I can't rate any others. We both had the "Irish skillet," which was hash browns and corned beef hash topped with your choice of eggs. Our "over medium" eggs were correctly cooked. The hash, of course, was canned, but it always is, so not a problem. Service was friendly and attentive, even when the server who took our order went on break and someone else took over. The ceiling fan over our heads was turned down at our request, and later we were asked if we'd like it turned down further. Saturday morning, busy place. The Tuscany has a menu that covers about any ethnic foods you might want to eat. From Italian, to Greek, to Mexican, to Asian, and of course southern Illinois home cooked foods are all on the menu. Plus, they have an extensive breakfast menu which they serve all of the time, so you can have breakfast for dinner if you choose. I have never had a bad meal here, and the prices are VERY reasonable. They were closed for a few weeks in 2016 to remodel their dining area, and it improved their seating choices. It always makes me wonder how a restaurant can have such a varied menu, but the Tuscany seems to handle it fairly well. And, their wait staff is always friendly and efficient! read more

Thank goodness I didn't see any reviews for this restaurant before going there. I would have hated to be influenced by bad reviews. My friend and I couldn't stop raving after our dinner there. A few of the locals recommended this place. The wait staff was small town friendly, happy to be there and very helpful. The bread sticks with garlic/red chili pepper infused oil was addictive. The food came out on time and was just what we ordered. The Bleu cheese dressing was thick and chunky, not watered down like so many places. My friend had the ribs and steak and she said it was perfect. My shrimp trio was good albeit a tad cooled off. The prices were a shock!
