The staff is so friendly and helpful (I left my glasses and notebook behind at a meeting and they had everything waiting for me to pickup the next day). The programming is top notch - I wanted to move here to just to take some of the classes! And the artwork! I'm obsessed with public art and this Center delivers. I kept finding little hidden gems sprinkled across the grounds and the building. The patio is lit with fairy lights and actually comfortable seating options. You can rent out any of the spaces for meetings or events. This is everything a community center should be. A model for other towns.

The restroom is accessible inside the Community Center during their business hours. Non-likes: - Not a lot of people come here for pick-up pickleball games. You likely have to bring your own people. Others bring their own people for private play or coaching. If you're lucky, you might find nice people there who'll let you join in. - It's near the beach, so strong breezes should be no surprise to you. Despite the wind tarps layered all along the surrounding fence, gusts still definitely affect gameplay. The day I went, there was a boxing tournament inside the Community Center, so parking was PACKED. Struggled to find parking for 10 minutes. What's worse is the other side park prohibits parking there for pickleball players. The location used to be a former Edwards Theater, but since been converted for meetings and events. The entrance can be a little confusing walking in, but it's located right next to California Pizza Kitchen. You will see a flight of stairs and once you get up there, you'll be inside the building. We were on one side of the building, but did not see any visible elevators, so keep that in mind if you happen to come here. The restrooms are easily accessible and clean here, but nothing to really get excited about. There is a center lounging area, with multiple sofas that's between the meeting rooms. Parking is adjacent to the building, but can also be challenging as it shares parking with The Marketplace center. So you may have to walk a little further when you do come visit.

(At other parks you can wait up to 50min because they only have 3 courts or each court has its own queue.) . Only the pb court lines are drawn. Thankfully, the Community Center staff provides portable nets. . Almost everyone here is a beginner. Level 3.0 and below. . At night, the lights are decently bright. Might be slightly dimmer on the street side. Non-likes: - The 4 courts are too close together. Neighboring distractions/interferences are common. They should've drawn the 4 courts farther apart. Need a little portable fencing to separate between courts. - On weeknights the Center, and thus the restrooms, closes at 7pm. - A bit of a maze to drive from the main roads to the nearest parking lot, then to walk around the skating rink to reach the pb courts. Wish we didn't have to cross a skating area to play pickleball everytime. - The courts are next to the street, so traffic is noisy occasionally. - Outdated webpage.

I probably will stop by this place again when I visit Newport Beach. Lake Forest Civic Center is an awesome facility. It is not only the City Hall of Lake Forest, but…read morealso its senior center, aka Clubhouse, a community center, a conference center, and also a performing art center/theater, all surrounding a central courtyard. It is referred to as Lake Forest's 100-year home. I was impressed by its beautiful view of landscape when I first set foot here a few years ago. Since then, I have visited all the buildings, even its parking garage. I liked the fact that most buildings are available for residents to rent/use. The hourly rate is very reasonable for personal use, and pretty much at-cost for non-profit organizations. I often see people use this facility as a public park. Families walk their kids and dog at dusk. The center is always decorated for the holidays, very festive. The only drawback perhaps is its location, not exactly on a major street of the city. Only people has a reason to come here will make the drive. Then again, it cuts down on people passing through accidentally.
