He gave me a ton of time and attention, always was ready to answer questions, and always told me more, offered more advice, offered more training and tips than I asked for. I found myself regularly overtime, as Mike would walk me off the court giving me the best of his knowledge and insight. He pays very careful attention to serving styles and helped me a ton with my positing, strategy, and fore and backhand...among other things! Mike reads.. A LOT. and he shares all of the best and latest new insights and techniques, incorporating them into his own personal coaching style. He talks about matches and what we can learn from various players styles and approaches. Mike gets you interested in Tennis in a way that I have not experienced with other coaches.. again.. key word.. PASSION. Mike has been my coach for years and I've seen him become a tennis coach as well as a life coach.. encouraging other students through frameworks of thinking -- Mike loves to say "The obstacle is not IN the way, it IS the way". His patience is also noteworthy. He doesn't seem to get frustrated; he is just focused on improving the process and skills of his students on even the most minute level. I highly recommend Mike as a Tennis Coach.

The tournament was extremely…read moreshort--barely enough time to feel like we actually got to compete--and yet the fees were way higher than expected. It honestly felt like we paid premium prices for something rushed and poorly structured. Organization was lacking, schedules felt squeezed, and overall it just didn't justify the cost at all. If you're thinking about signing up, I'd definitely recommend asking a lot of questions upfront about game time and value. Not worth the money in my opinion! It costed $130 for me and my partner to get 3 guaranteed games in the tournament.

This is a very nice facility for pickleball, however, I would be wary of tournaments here. I played…read morein a tournament a few months ago which was great. There were 7 teams, so each team played 6 games in a round robin, and then the top 4 teams advanced to playoffs. Every team was guaranteed 6 games. Not bad for a $55 tournament. However today, I played in another tournament. There were 8 teams instead of 7. However, rather than a full round robin so everyone would play 7 games, they split us into two groups of 4 teams, and we only did one round robin. So we were only guaranteed 3 games. Only 3 guaranteed games for the same $55 price is an absolute rip off. I'm not sure why we couldn't do a double round robin to play each team in our group twice. The tournament website also said there would be more consolation games for teams, but that was not the case. Was very optimistic going into the second tournament here since the first one was so great. But the tournament today was such a rip off that I don't think I will be coming back here for another tournament. 3 guaranteed games is a joke.

For my love of sports, I dedicate my 2,200th Yelp review to all the tennis and pickleball enthusiasts in the world. This one is for you! On the weekend of March 7 & 8, 2026, I had the fun opportunity to attend the PPA Tour - SXY Newport Beach Open Semi-Finals Saturday and Championship Sunday. This wonderful venue was held at The Tennis & Pickleball Club in Newport Beach. It was walking distance from Fashion Island, but I ended up parking nearby and got shuttled to the event. Check-in was easy. Line went really fast. Staff was friendly and helpful. Tennis and pickleball courts were really nice and well maintained. Both Semi-Finals and Championship matches were held at the Humana Championship Court. Seating was not pre-assigned... first come first served. I was lucky to get pretty good seats on both days. Thank you! Bleachers seating was not the most comfortable. I forgot to bring my cushion. Oh well. There were a lot of participants and spectators. Various merch and service vendors plus Pickleball Central were present. Bought myself a custom sweater with cute quote "Great minds dink a like". Food and beverage options were limited. Luxury restroom trailers were located in the parking lot outside of the club. All singles and doubles matches were amazing. All pro pickleball players were spectacular in their game. I look forward to more pro pickleball events in the future. Maybe one day I'll register to play pickleball along side with the pros. I just need to find myself a pickleball doubles partner. I can't wait! For the tennis and pickleball enthusiasts, keep playing the sports you love always and forever! Win or lose, just play your game and have fun!

It made for a really good venue although the PPA attracts so many players and fans that for this particular tournament, they probably need to add some additional food and beverage options!
