About as nice of a golf experience as can be had. I played the Palmer side yesterday and enjoyed everything about it. The course is beautifully and immaculately maintained. It's also pretty-challenging--but I played well and did a little fist pumping on more than a few holes as long putts ran true, a sand save was had, and 5 of the holes are now, "my beyaches" (meaning, I got a par on them). And, of course, TURTLE BAY is located in an exceptionally beautiful spot between the Ko'olau mountain range and the sea, Everyone on the staff that I interacted with-- from the customer service guys who first greet you and set up your clubs, to the refreshment cart girl, to the pro shop crew, to the maintenance guys working on the course-- even the staff in the adjoining restaurant (Lei Lei's) were exceptional in all ways. Everyone, during my visit, was super-welcoming, informative, professional, and exuded a genuinely warm and caring energy. I take my dad's old set of clubs out about once a year (he passed a few years ago), as this allows him and I to "metaphorically" play a round of 18 with each other again. I thought it appropriate to go somewhere kinda special for the occasion, and since Turtle Bay was on my "golf bucket-list" of places that hoped to try before hanging up my putter for good, this is where I headed. It goes without saying that am glad that I went. I don't want to brag, but..."Together", my dad and I may have set the course record... but then I had to play the back nine. (sorry, I had to slip in that dad joke). Even at the Kama'ina rate, It was a bit of a splurge (I am a public golf course/deal-finder kind of a guy), but every now and again, I feel that there is value in treating oneself to something nice. This was one such moment and it will be cherished and remembered fondly. read more

Turtle Bay Golf - This was taken on the 17th hole at the Palmer course. The photo does not do the view justice. Stunning beauty abounds on this course. - Golf Near Me - Kahuku, Hawaii

They advertise this course as ocean views. Their marketing really shows hole 17 as if that is indicative of what the course will be. Even hole 17 doesn't look like that. Very disappointed. The drive back to Waikiki took 2 hours. Not worth the hype, drive, or price. read more

Front nine is more challenging than the back 9. The many (maybe too many) sand traps and many water hazards can frustrate a mid to high handicap player. If you're a bogey golf visitor just go with the flow and don't worry about losing too many golf balls. Play and enjoy. The course condition, January 2025, is quite good. Fairway grass is nice texture and mowed well. The rough is not too punishing. There's lots of moguls, the terrain can be roly-poly on some holes. It's more interesting than fear inspiring. Putting greens are smooth, though not fast. I'd say the greens average 9 on the Stimp scale. Practice putting green is excellent condition. It's a good facsimile of the course. Driving range balls are included with the green fee. The balls are in excellent condition. Bag drop guys are friendly and helpful. Same with pro shop check in person. Pro shop is pretty basic. Mostly apparel. The good stuff. Luxe resort prices. Location is quite a schlep from Waikiki. Took us an hour to drive here. There are plenty of Honolulu area golf courses that are less expensive and just as much fun. But if you are staying in Turtle Bay, of course you must play here. read more

Took a ride for over 1 1/2 hours to here. Conditions is bad at a high priced course, no view and not maintained well. Staff is not helpful and rude at the club house when I called to have them check on the group before us and nobody ever showed up. A group of 4 was playing like this is a driving range. No shame. Highly not recommended. Try to avoid! read more

The Palmer course should be a gem, but its not being maintained well, there is bull-grass and crabgrass around the green in in some of the tee boxes. I've played other resort courses and this doesn't get a b for condition of the course . Took a couple of pictures of the greens tee boxes and 18th fairway. read more

Golfing as a single..asked for back 9. Denied. 3 4somes and a two some in front where the lady shot 70 after 7 holes. In Wisconsin it's a $70 course max.. $200 for 9 holes and 2 hours after 7 holes.. Drove off the course.. came on vacation to get a heart attack.. I guess Hang Loose on Hawaii means that for golf also.. Scenery and greens was 10 for 10, wind was steady but fair. read more

A bit disappointed with this course - it's pretty mediocre by Hawaii standard. I was imaging more ocean view with it on the tip of north shore but you only have that on hole 17. The view on other holes otherwise was nothing to write home about. If you're staying at the resort it's worth going for the convenience, otherwise you can find way better view at courses in the same price range elsewhere on the island. It's also a long drive from town. read more

The communication and conditions were not the best. There was no food service on the course. EXTREMELY dissatisfied and disappointed for paying over $250. We had a tee time at 11:10 and couldn't play until 12 noon. They sent workers home so the restaurant was even understaffed and ran slow. I would like to get my money back but I booked through golf now. Also, pictures on website are VERY misleading.Won't be back, sorry to say. read more

Come on now, this is Turtle Bay's golf course, one of the most gorgeous and well-kept golf courses on Oahu! It's about an hour's drive from town up to Turtle Bay resort. Once you arrive, park near the check-in entrance and drop off your clubs and then go park your car. Trust me, it's much better than lugging your clubs across the parking lot. Check-in and go grab your cart from the friendly staff. Drive your cart up to where you left your clubs and bam! You're off to this insanely beautiful view of the course. The 1st hole required you to go through a round tunnel, stay left on the path and you'll reach the tunnel in no time. The carts are equipped with beautiful GPS, plenty of information and even tells you if you're behind and to hurry your okole up. A few times throughout the course, a food/drink cart comes to you offering you goodies. The sandwiches look yummy but we didn't get any as we ate already. Anywho, be a good human and fix your own ball mark and at least one other during the course. The bunkers are deadly, don't get in there or you'll be digging yourself to China. Cheers! read more

Course staff stole our range finder. Course was in good condition, but wasn't a standout compared to other courses in Hawaii. The attendant that unloaded our carts and bags didn't return one of our range finder to our bags. We wanted to make sure we had everything so we started packing our things but he was insistent on us leaving it to him and we had to use the restroom before our drive so we did. When we got back, cart was gone, all the staff were gone, and our bags were placed in the pickup/drop off area. We found out when we got back to where we were staying that we didn't have one of our range finder. Would have been a better experience if it wasn't for this, staff were friendly and the course wasn't crowded. But we called immediately about it, and they supposedly went to the cart shack to look for it. They told me they looked and there was nothing there in the cart that we used. Said he will ask the attendants tomorrow, no call back. We called a couple days later, spoke with a lady at the pro shop, she asked us to hold so she can go to the cart shack to look into it but never got back to us. We sat there for a while, a man came on and asked why I was on hold. Explained the situation to him and he said a cart attendant or somebody probably took it if there was nothing in the carts when someone already checked the day of. Told me he will chat with the lady that first answered the call and get back to me, nothing. I called the day after, and they said they are still working on it and if they find it they will ship it to me free of charge. I've expressed how we were very unhappy with the situation and his answer was, the bag attendants usually are good about range finders and such. Didn't offer anything to help the situation. It was a $500 range finder, no discounts on rounds, no vouchers for anything, zero. Just explained that these things happen like it was normal. It could have been an honest mistake that their staff took advantage of, but I couldn't tell the difference between this and theft from my perspective. Basically, someone that works for the course stole my range finder and the course had no accountability and didn't want to take any action to make it right, fully or partially. All in all, ended up costing us $1,000 for a round for the two of us. read more

Great course design and the greens were fantastic. The course is beautiful and definitely have to have course management to score well. Good greens and good fairways...can't complain read more

Best golf course on island by far. the views were great along with condition. Don't understand the 3.5 stars.

My friends and I booked a foursome at the Turtle Bay Golf Club on a weekday morning and it was a gorgeous day. We experienced a rare windless day in the Kahuku area. Two of us checked in a little early so we went to the practice range to wait for our other players. It is a 5 minute drive on a golf cart to get to the practice area and the first tee so pay attention to the instructions on how to get there when you check in. Only the Arnold Palmer course is open with no maintenance is being done on the Defazio course for some reason. The practice area includes the driving range, a chipping range, a chipping green and a putting green. The course is beautiful and the fairways were pretty smooth. It was a special place to spend time with good friend in a beautiful environment, it doesn't get better than that. You have somer nice views of the ocean on some holes and forests surrounding the course. It was a bit pricey, $85, but then again we don't come out this far very often. read more

Went to redeem our last "free" round of golf under our Turtle Bay Hana Hou Membership. The sales clerk told us about the Hana Hou Plus upgrade. For $50 we would get 2 more free rounds. Usually it's $65/round prime time at Palmer. We bought 3 upgrades ($50 each) and 1 new Hana Hou Plus membership ($200). I complimented the clerk on being good at upselling. It was pretty busy on the course. Grass was kinda soggy and muddy in some of the low areas and water in some sand traps. But the fairways, greens & tee boxes were still primo condition. Beverage cart lady was at 4th and 10th hole. By far one of the best courses on Oahu I have played, but I have yet to play Koolau. The one bummer thing about Turtle Bay is fighting the traffic getting home every time. it took us almost 2 hours to get home because there was a crash on Kunia road just above Walmart, which sucked because we were almost home. So we had to turn around at Hawaii Country Club and go all the way back up Wahiawa to H2 and to Ewa. read more

OK course although not much connection to the ocean even though right next to it...probably "environmental" rules and maybe to control winds. Checked in and went out, then AFTER check in were informed cart path only and to speed it up right off the bat (on a weekday). Given size and layout of course, not possible to play ball, return to cart, move up, walk to ball, play, return to cart, etc. and maintain normal pace...even a pro could not unless they sprinted like Usain Bolt back and forth...automated screen keeps nagging you about pace, then occasionally a live person would too, even after conceding fairways were drivable...maybe only around greens were soft, but "not his call.". When cart path only rule is imposed, spacing between groups should be increased. We were a bunch of locals, and while not out and out treated rudely, definitely felt an "unwelcome" vibe. Too bad...guess aloha is only for higher green fee paying visitors. The lingering taste pretty much makes you forget whether or not you enjoyed the course or not...actually NOT... Would take some significant reform before this group of locals consider TB Palmer again. read more

Weather did not permit us to golf on Friday. Luckily our weekend stay at Turtle Bay allowed us to use the voucher on Monday before we left. The weekend was rainy causing a cart path only day. I've been to almost all golf courses on the island and I must say Palmer Course is by far 4-Star Amazing. Staff was on point and the course had some amazing picture moment shots. This review is for the Fazio course at Turtle Bay. This is one of my favorite courses on the island. Here's why, the greens are very consistent and well-maintained. The fairways are mowed and cared for. During the week and even on holidays, there is rarely a rush to play, and you can take your time with your shots. The price is great, at $60 for locals, which comes with a golf cart. There is a free driving range, that gives you the opportunity to warm up before you around. There is a chipping green which is well taken care of, and a putting green also will taken care of. The only downside is that some of the bunkers are regular sand, others are as hard as a rock. That's about the only negative for this entire course. The wind will make it a little more challenging, but this is not an easy course. There's one hole with 22 bunkers! The snack shop has a plate lunch for $14, and an excellent burger for 16. Beers from the cart are $5. This is just a great course! read more

Turtle Bay is my go to golf facility. I have a lot of business dealings on the Northshore, so I'm up here a lot. A great deal is the Turtle Bay Golf Hana Hou membership, which I've had for 3-4 years. A great benefit is the walking rate of $15 on the Fazio Course. The Fazio is a flat, not overly long course that can be great for your ego when the wind is not blowing. Wind is the defense of this course. The first nine winds around the resort condos, and is left over from the original resort course, so it is somewhat dated. The second nine goes through the wetlands and has been updated. Truthfully, if I can only get nine holes in, I default to the second nine...it's more interesting. Conditioning is fairly good as of 6/30/18....my only complaint is the lack of sand in the bunkers. Again, for the rate that pay per round, I'm very pleased. There are great practice facilities at Turtle Bay and there is also the Palmer Course, which is an outstanding golf course. read more

Before tying the knot, the fellas got together to play a round of golf out at the famed Turtle Bay. We opted to play the Arnold Palmer course after hearing great reviews of it and we weren't disappointed. Layout of the course is resort style with wide fairways, pristine tee-boxes and lush fairways. Prices for visitors can be 3-x the rate for locals which is unfortunate, but the memory is priceless. After our round, we ate and had drinks at the Surfer Bar which was a nice setting and view of the course. Hopefully the next time we travel back out we'll get a chance to play the Fazio course. read more

Came to Oahu for a golf trip, did 3 rounds on 3 different golf courses. Hands down, Turtle Bay was the best one I've played at. The course is well-maintained, check-in was fast and easy, the ocean view was amazing, and the course was a good challenge. The only downside was the long drive to Turtle Bay, if you are staying in Waikiki, but worth the drive nonetheless. I would definitely come back here and book a tee time again when I come back to visit the island. read more

Very nice course. Challenging with a couple views of the ocean. I would recommend to anyone one of the best on the island

I went on a mini staycation at Turtle Bay so why not golf? I decided to do 9-holes on the Fazio course. The golf cart came with a cooler, but nothing in it. We ended up getting ice at the club house and even paid for 2 bottle waters for the course. (Not so cool since I just read other people's review and they had ice and water in their cooler. -__-') 3:05 tee time and off we went to the first hole. Wait... where is the first hole? Directions as to where to go aren't posted well. After the first hole I opened up the score card to write my score and it was for the wrong course. Great. Overall, I had a good time since I was on vacation mode, the weather was good, and I was there to just have fun anyway. Will I go back? Meh... I guess. I just have to make sure I have the right score card before heading out and that the cooler is stocked. read more

This golf course is completely overpriced. There Kamaaina rate is a joke 159$, online rates states starts at 95 but my husband and his group were charged 159$ each. Upon calling the girl says prices fluctuate according to how busy they are. The problem is not everyone books tee times on line it is the pro shop employees job to notify caller of price changes prior to booking which was not disclosed. Us kamaaina kept them going after the pandemic when they were slow to forget about the locals is really sad. Other courses are cheaper on this island and have set kamaaina prices! read more

Although the Palmer Course is one of the best courses I've ever played, it is nerve racking when your ball ends up in the rough here. And, for that, I cannot give it 5-stars. The not so gracious staff hinders my rating also. I like to see smiles when I get to a golf course. Seeing smiles makes me feel like I can shoot my best round ever. Instead, the staff was so blah that the negative energy just made me feel agitated and in a hurry to finish my round. I took a lot of penalty strokes and still shot a decent round. I can't even imagine how I'd have played if I was in good spirits. The waitress at Lei Lei's Bar & Grill where I bought a sandwich to go also was mindlessly floating around. The tour comes here a lot so I understand why the rough has to be conditioned like an Easter egg hunt at a playground, but really...When the tour isn't passing through can we shave it off just an inch more so it doesn't impede on play. I'll tell you how ridiculous it is, especially when you're playing by yourself and no one can spot your ball for you in the air. I lost my ball at the par5 12th hole in the rough. I came out with 3 balls in the general area where I thought my ball should have landed. Unfortunately, none of the 3 balls belonged to me. I ended up D.Bogeying that hole....bummer man! I've never enjoyed a course more that I didn't shoot a great score with though. The winds are howling at the North Shore when untidy storms are brewing. I liked it. It made the course a lot more fun. The bunkers at Turtle Bay are incredible, especially their signature 17th hole where there's got to be more than 10 bunkers. Driver won't do at the tee on the 17th. Just lay up and position yourself for an easy 2nd shot. Unfortunately, for me, 3 wood was still too much because of the rolling hills. Pass the fairway bunkers a hill careens to an OB area where you don't want to be. Sometimes the wind aides you too much or the run of your ball is just to fast and powerful. Lots of balls in that OB area. Saw a resident of the resort with a bag full of balls as my ball nearly escaped his clutches. Picturesque views on the 17th green. A plus for Turtle Bay though is that you can play their Fazio Course for only $15 after 3pm. That's a great deal. The Palmer Course is a better than the Fazio Course, but not a whole lot. This is the best deal I've seen for a quality course at a super twilight rate. All-in-all...the course plays well to my strengths which is why I like it. It's just those times I hit'em in the rough that gets to me. Anybody seen my ball? read more

It was a day trip to play at Tuttle Bay's Palmer course, which is on the beautiful north shore of the island. Making reservations for a tee times was not a problem. I was able to get the day and time that I wanted. The staff were very friendly from the cashier to the starters to the marshall. Golf carts have coolers and are stocked with ice and 2 bottles of water. It would have been nice to have GPS on them, but it was not a problem. My partner had a laser binocular. You can drive the golf carts on the course. No 90 degree rule. Playtime for the course was between four and a half to 5 hours. Not bad at all. The greens were manicured perfectly. This is somewhat a hard course and definitely not recommended for beginners. Bring extra balls on windy days as your ball can get lost in the rough. The only one disappointing factor is I was expecting to see the ocean on more holes, since it was close to the beach. You can only see the ocean from the 17th hole while you're on the green. read more

The course is amazing. The lady at the front desk is wonderful. Thank you Jessica. I must say that the golf attendants out front don't really care for the Kama'aina crowd. It's strange. Like you aren't welcome cause you aren't paying full price. I don't care what they think. We topped them, still very little conversation or friendliness, except one mainlander was getting all the attention, he just got in from Maui. Blah blah blah. This is the 4th time been treated like dog meat by those guys up front. We will continue to play Turtle bay cause it's awesome. Maybe they know that? Maybe locals don't tip as well? I played Palmer yesterday at 220 for the twilight rate. Lost only 5 balls considering the water. Note- there are views of the ocean. The water hazards refer to water on the course. Still very beautiful. One of the best courses i played on. It's a feasible course. Not entirely too difficult. Tee 17 was ridiculously difficult. Almost laughing at me. Deep sand traps everywhere with multi-tier greens. Tee 18 is a par 5 and more appeasing to make up for that cruel 17. Only gripe- at this price range, id expect gps in carts, or a course map somewhere. My partner and i (both 1st timers) were playing blind and going old school- gauging our distances. Wish to return. Absolutely not!!! $209 for tourist when locals only pay $89. Not a single hole along the ocean! Anything over $120 is a scam for this course. This review is for the Palmer course. Beautifully maintained course. Fairways and greens were spotless. This course is challenging! Narrow course. Target golf off the tee. Good balance of water throughout the course. Bunkers are strategically placed and huge. Not an easy course by any means! Also the sand is soft, not rock hard like many courses on Oahu. Service was super friendly from the starter to the Marshall (Al), and Kira the beer cart girl was uber cool as well. It was a delight to speak with everyone here! It is like you are their best friend! As good as the course is, it isn't busy lIkely because of its remote location along the North Shore. We played the Fazio course on Christmas 2008 while staying on the North Shore. The whole resort is gorgeous! It had flooded the week before, so the course was a little soggy, but still beautiful and challenging. We rented clubs (much better than the ones we had at home) and played pretty well considering (the course, unfamiliar clubs, and the fact we suck at golf in general). There's only one hole along the water, but it was spectacular. The others run through the lush resort and are still very beautiful. The staff at the club house were helpful and kind and the unlimited practice balls at the little driving range were a nice touch! Can't wait to play again next time we're on the island. read more
