This is a nice municipal course to walk. There is a surprising variety of holes to give you a challenge. A couple of very long holes that make it fun to see how you'll get up to the green. It's very dry right now as you can see in the picture but not cracked like Olomana can get when it is dried out. This means you can get some lucky bounces and roll out quite a bit longer than normal. Downsides is the drive out there if you don't live on the north shore but it's not crowded like at Pali or Ala Wai. Another downside is the homeless camped along the beach. No concession or place to hangout and I didn't see a driving range or putting green. Price is right. If I were retiring it would be nice to buy into one of the bungalows along the course and walk over every morning and play a round.

I fell in love. Lower your expectations. I played a bucket list course the day before but felt the awe of beach golf here. Granted I was first out and solo. Very simple and raw conditions. Wind & elevation are factors. If you're looking for amenities and stuck up culture, this ain't it. It's just golf next to the ocean. There is no dress code.

I've golfed this course three times now and enjoy golfing there--once two rounds for 18 hole total. Sorry, no golf carts there. You can rent a push cart for $4 or $5 I believe. All times have been during the pandemic and one of main reasons why I golfed there. There's not many trees there. The 3rd and 4th holes have some that may come into play but mostly the type of bushes that grow along the seashore. The greens are not the best and some are better than others but none were slow. Some have these clover like weeds but are tiny and flat. The staff there was very friendly everytime. I give this course 5 stars because it's the cheapest place to golf. You can get a tee time almost any day and time even in these trying times. The fairways are very well maintained but it can get very windy there. The windiest round I ever played was at Kahuku. The good thing is that it's all cross wind. I say if you're taking a drive or cruise around the Island, book a time and enjoy 60-90 minutes golfing 9 holes there.

Good cheap links golf, nothing fancy, pull carts only or carry your bag. Very challenging with the windy conditions, blowing about 20-30mph when we went.

If you want an no frills chill place to play 9 holes this is the spot especially if you live here on the north shore. With the county golf card it's $10 for 9 holes walking. One thing that is clutch is that you do not need a reservation to play, only county course doing so. Don't forget you get what you are paying for. But for some gorgeous weather, views of the beach, ko'olaus and the occasional whales swinging by this works. If it was taken as good care of as let's say the Pali course this would get a 4. But good fun, no pressure, barefoot golf this is the spot

$64 for 2 people to play 9 holes and rent clubs. The views were amazing. The club house is run down and the club rentals weren't the best but for the price we paid and the ocean views this is one of the best deals on the island. We just happened to drop by on our way back to turtle bay, because I read about the golf course in a magazine years ago. We saw the views from the parking lot and decided to play. We checked in and only had to wait for couple minutes to tee off. We didn't have anyone behind us which was great since we are not great golfers. We had a good time and will return!

I was pleasantly surprised on my first visit to this beautiful ocean-side nine hole golf course in Kahuku. The facilities are shabby at best; a parking lot in need of repaving, and small wooden buildings housing the maintenance shed and starters office, and a couple of portapotties outside the starters office substituting for the out of order restrooms inside. Be prepared to walk the course because they don't have any riding carts. They do however have push carts for rent if you don't want to carry your bag through the nine holes. The course itself was in much better shape that I was expecting after checking in. There was more green grass on the ground than you would usually find at most other municipal courses on Oahu, and the scenery was absolutely beautiful. The downside of the course is that there is a lot of sand all around. Not sand as in bunkers, but sand in place of dirt in a lot of places. I guess this is kind of expected as the course is connected to the beach. There is also a sand covered road that runs through the 8th and 9th holes which could possibly get in the way if you're unlucky. We came here on a Tuesday at about mid-day, and were able to walk on right away with no waiting. It had only cost each of us $8, and an additional $4 for the push cart rental. $12 for 9 holes of golf? I think that's pretty tough to beat!

Played this course back in 8/02/09. I would drive up from Waikiki to play this more often if it had electric golf carts. Beautiful views. 4 star's for this course, because there's always room for improvement...like adding electric golf carts and improving the course a little more. Course has no Driving Range. Not sure if there is a Practice Putting Green...can't remember.

Driving down the street to the course is kinda ghetto and you see 2 old rusty dilapidated shacks which turn out to be the starters office. Bathrooms out of order must use port a potties. But the course is beautiful and fun, well maintained. Quirky signage looks like 5- year old made them. $10 for 9 holes. Easy to walk we carried our clubs. If I lived closer I'd go here often. Kinda shady people hanging around parking lot and using porta potties though.

It's also pretty-challenging--but I played well and did a little fist pumping on more than a few holes as long putts ran true, a sand save was had, and 5 of the holes are now, "my beyaches" (meaning, I got a par on them). And, of course, TURTLE BAY is located in an exceptionally beautiful spot between the Ko'olau mountain range and the sea, Everyone on the staff that I interacted with-- from the customer service guys who first greet you and set up your clubs, to the refreshment cart girl, to the pro shop crew, to the maintenance guys working on the course-- even the staff in the adjoining restaurant (Lei Lei's) were exceptional in all ways. Everyone, during my visit, was super-welcoming, informative, professional, and exuded a genuinely warm and caring energy. I take my dad's old set of clubs out about once a year (he passed a few years ago), as this allows him and I to "metaphorically" play a round of 18 with each other again. I thought it appropriate to go somewhere kinda special for the occasion, and since Turtle Bay was on my "golf bucket-list" of places that hoped to try before hanging up my putter for good, this is where I headed. It goes without saying that am glad that I went. I don't want to brag, but..."Together", my dad and I may have set the course record... but then I had to play the back nine. (sorry, I had to slip in that dad joke). Even at the Kama'ina rate, It was a bit of a splurge (I am a public golf course/deal-finder kind of a guy), but every now and again, I feel that there is value in treating oneself to something nice. This was one such moment and it will be cherished and remembered fondly.

If you're a bogey golf visitor just go with the flow and don't worry about losing too many golf balls. Play and enjoy. The course condition, January 2025, is quite good. Fairway grass is nice texture and mowed well. The rough is not too punishing. There's lots of moguls, the terrain can be roly-poly on some holes. It's more interesting than fear inspiring. Putting greens are smooth, though not fast. I'd say the greens average 9 on the Stimp scale. Practice putting green is excellent condition. It's a good facsimile of the course. Driving range balls are included with the green fee. The balls are in excellent condition. Bag drop guys are friendly and helpful. Same with pro shop check in person. Pro shop is pretty basic. Mostly apparel. The good stuff. Luxe resort prices. Location is quite a schlep from Waikiki. Took us an hour to drive here. There are plenty of Honolulu area golf courses that are less expensive and just as much fun. But if you are staying in Turtle Bay, of course you must play here.

They were running a special for $225/player (normally $275) with a 10-day advanced booking. They need a credit card to hold the reservation and you pay upon arrival. We had a 10:50 tee time and everything ran on time and check-in was smooth. Once checked-in, you'll present your receipt to the staffer who will give you a small bucket of balls. They took our clubs at the parking lot stand and placed the clubs on our cart. We grabbed a few clubs and walked over to the grass range, which was in decent shape. The course is great for all skill levels because it's pretty wide open and very well manicured. The rough is cut down pretty low so even if you miss the fairway, you still gotta shot at it. Playing the blues, the course is pretty long but manageable. The greens were in great shape and bunkers were great looking, although luckily I didn't have to play out of any of them. While it's a well maintained course, I thought the layout was kinda boring and predictable. Lots of good views and photo ops around the course, although the course has minimal ocean views. We had some vouchers from our hotel which we could use at the pro shop but not the snack bar. We ended up with a couple of bag tags, ball markers and a logo ball (gift set) which they engrave your name in the bag tag which is pretty cool for $20 for everything. The rest of the pro shop is pretty pricey though. Overall, glad we got to play it. I think the price point is what would keep me from playing again, but it's hard to beat when it's less than 5 minutes from our hotel. We got paired with a great couple, shout out Chuck and Cindy who were also visiting. It made for a memorable and fun day out on the course.

On the day I went, they didn't have French fries as an option that is listed on the menu. If I recall, that was the case several months ago when I went there. But not to be at all disappointed when I was given a really delicious mixed green salad with fresh strawberry slices and craisins with a very yummy salad dressing. It was the more nutritious choice, so even though it was my plan B, it'll be my plan A option next time! Back to my entree. I had the loco moco. It came with a generous hand-made burger with brown gravy and a scoop of brown/white rice. The sunny side egg was perfectly cooked. I had some of the fish sandwich too. It was just as delicious as the last 2 times I got it. The fish was a thick slice that was lightly egg battered. The brioch bun was so soft and tasty. I loved that there was tomato and lettuce on it. A deluxe fish sandwich! I really like it! They were setting up for a private event with cloth covered chairs. Maybe a good idea to look into that for a future event.
