We were walking on eggshells, bracing for violent outbursts, and had run out of strategies (books, podcasts, and Instagram posts could only take us so far!). We contacted Lauren as a referral from our pediatrician and she came within a couple of days. She was direct, honest, flexible, and honored our personal constraints. Within an hour, she had connected with our kiddo and reset the tone for our family. We committed to Lauren's approach. Over the course of several weeks, we saw dramatic improvements in behavior and breakthrough moments that brought tears to my eyes--calming his body, being kind to his little brother, and demonstrating patience. We not only regained control of our household, we learned how to be much more positive and resilient parents. As we reflected back, we spent the prior year+ losing our sh** and thinking that was normal (it probably is "normal"). Lauren was the intervention we didn't realize existed. We are now more equipped, in a way that is customized and works for our very special child. Thank you Lauren!!

She's so good at what she does that she's able to get the behavioral changes needed while maintaining a positive relationship. Not to mention the children walk away feeling really good about themselves. When speaking with children she truly humanizes their experiences and makes it so relatable for them. She has been instrumental in working with our school and has provided guidance and strategies for the school that are both novel and impactful. This has made a remarkable difference. Finally, she has been immensely helpful in teaching me how to manage behavior at home.

Our son tried to reason with the kid, tried to get his own materials (which he was scolded for) and tried directly asking the instructor for help, a request which was ignored. I also reported this on an email survey that the camp sent out after the first day but received no reply. We decided to totally skip the last two days and have our son learn coding on his iPad instead because he felt like his time was completely going to waste at Wizbots. I would not recommend this camp to Update to respond to the owner's comment: the camp let's 7 year olds sign up and at no point was I contacted and let know that the age of 7 was too young. As can be seen from other reviews, other 7 year olds do sign up and even have good experiences. The issue here was a lack of intervention against a clear behavioral issue and lack of responsiveness to repeated feedback in real time from my son and myself. I still have never been contacted by anyone from wizbots except via this review.

Like most queen breeders worth their salt, I choose queens to breed from based on low mite counts, mite resilience, gentleness, honey production, longevity, etc. Nucs will consist of 5 frames of bees. Frames will be Langstroth Deeps made of wood (Mann Lake) with plastic foundation. All frames will be from wax drawn in 2018. Two to three frames will consist of brood in all stages, a feed frame of honey/pollen, and either a foundation frame or an empty comb frame. If managed correctly, they will give you a honey crop your first year. All queens will be grafted from my best queens of 2018, and are guaranteed to be mated and laying solid patterns. With package prices increasing yearly, a nuc is a better choice than ever. Quicker build up, bees that are guaranteed not to abscond (does happen), and a guaranteed laying queen. Bees will be sold in temporary cardboard nuc boxes. Pickup location is still to be determined. I can possibly deliver for a fee if ordering more than 10 nucs. To secure your nuc, please head over to my website to place a $50 non-refundable deposit. Email or call with any questions. I decided to go back to nursing school and knew that I would have to take an exam that had a math category. I had been so fearful to take the exam but decided to get the help I needed in math by signing up at mathnasium. I am so happy I did! I not only learned multiple strategies for solving math problems but also had various tutors who made the math fun and actually... easy! Math became understandable which was not always the case for me. I have taken away many life skills I will use from here on out. There are no words to describe how grateful I am for their patience and persistence during my time with them. I would not have passed the math category in the test if it had not been for mathnasium. The national average in the math category for this particular test was at a 68%. I passed the national average and scored a 79%. I highly recommended this center and will continue to tell my friends and family about it. Thank you Sarah and Shellie for everything!

Based on good reviews of the Mathnasium system, impressions from talking with Beatrice and visiting the new location, we got started before the summer started. Getting started was very easy. After a test to see where my son needed help we were given a plan and got started. My child has been attending sessions this summer and will continue throughout this next school year. He is motivated and continues to go to math sessions with enthusiasm. Mathnasium offers incentives for the kids to progress and I have added some of my own at home. My son likes the incentives and he is gaining confidence in his math skills. This will not only help him in math this next year but I believe that confidence will spill over to other areas as well. As a parent I want to help my child but I'm not always able to be as effective as I would like. Beatrice and her staff have provided a great relief for both me and my son by helping him learn what he needs to learn and reinforcing what he already knows. The location has worked out well for us as well. There is always parking and if I need to run a few errands during my child's session, there are a few businesses that I frequent in Sequoia Station which has been super convenient.

Everyone on staff has been incredibly easy and pleasant to collaborate with, and responsive to my questions. The school expanded over the summer to add 2 more classrooms, so that Burkard now has 6 classrooms: K/1, 2/3, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7/8th. Having experienced a few private schools and a public school between my 2 kids, I am confident this is the best environment for my child, for both academic differentiation and SEL support. It's often lamented that parents have to choose the least bad educational option for their 2e kids, but I truly believe this is a great option. We were fortunate enough to be with his amazing 2/3 teachers for 2 years, and have a new set of teachers we love this year, too. Speaking with parents across grades, they also think highly of their teaching teams. My son continues to thrive academically (measured by his overall engagement, as well as MAP testing), and we are very happy with the math differentiation he receives. Each year, I have been pleased with the attention and care the staff takes to make sure he's challenged at the right level. They take great care to plan engaging lessons across ELA, science, social studies and SEL, and incorporate hands on projects regularly to extend their learning. My son regularly shares interesting facts he learned in class! Math is a subject he continues to be passionate about, so I reach out to the school annually for math acceleration. He is given math assessments at the start of each year to determine the appropriate placement, and is given the option of joining a higher level class, or doing independent study in his classroom. We opted this year to have him join the higher level math class on a modified schedule, and we are grateful for the ability to choose the right option for him. The daily SEL teaching is also very well done. Many schools don't have the ability to go in-depth with SEL, but our BT has devised fun games and exercises for the kids to put their SEL knowledge into practice. It was so sweet to hear that my son's 4th grade class taught new recess games to the K/1 class! The BT's keep a close watch throughout the day, so the students are able to learn and play in a physically and emotionally safe environment. When conflicts arise, the staff is there to help the students resolve the issue in an appropriate way. We get daily reports, and twice monthly newsletters sharing what he's learning, so I know he's receiving a high quality education. If your child is at a school that is not meeting their needs, I encourage you to tour the Burkard School. It is truly a gem of a school!

We unfortunately found very little real understanding and expertise along the way, moving from program to program, from school to school, in every case deeply involved with the IEP process. Then we decided to try TBS. The results have been nothing short of amazing. Our student's self-esteem and emotional intelligence started to grow from the start and has continued to grow ever since. No more calls asking us to come quickly, the benefits to our entire household have been pretty incredible, across parents, siblings, and friends alike. When your student talks to you about how the kids at school are 'just like me', when they express a sense of belonging and common purpose to thrive in the face of big emotions, you can only smile and reflect on the journey. ...and imagine what it's like for other parents to understand you, understand your child, and understand so much of the details of the journey. The TBS community, made up of students, teachers, and parents is one that sees your child as deserving, powerful, and good.

Nearly a third of the students in this class were identified as requiring further evaluation by Morrissey Compton (you do the math of $4,000+ per evaluation) or unable to be served by the school. For those requiring further evaluation, Morrissey Compton's very junior psychologist provided the most general behavioral considerations to justify the evaluations and she was unwittingly used by the school administrators to deny the students' reenrollment. Independent evaluations did not support the observations of Morrissey Compton's psychologist. What was the common finding that Morrissey Compton failed to observe? The class had been left to its own devices due an inexperienced teacher with 1) no establishment of baseline rules, 2) over-reliance on short-term rewards systems long proven to be ineffective, and 3) an attendance record that effectively left the children without anyone in charge.
