They are a healer that's very passionate about the various modalities of Chinese medicine including acupuncture. In fact, our first session was mostly a qigong session. I had to experience it to believe that I could actually feel them moving qi against me without actually physically touching me, and afterwards I was able to confirm that what I sensed (eyes closed) was what they were doing. It was totally wild. Besides their skills and knowledge, Tank is just such a good listener. I love the first part of our sessions because they really ask good questions and are completely present for the conversation. I can tell they really want to know the whole context to help a person. One thing that Tank is especially good at is being sensitive to sensitive people. I get cold easily and am sensitive to noise, and every time they get the ultra-crinkly mylar blanket to warm me up (it's very light so it doesn't disturb the needles, but also super noisy), they put it on me with exquisite care to ensure the noise isn't detracting from the experience. That is just how they do things - with exquisite care. Highly recommend going to see Tank for holistic care through the lens of Chinese medicine!

Tank really listens to you and answers questions holistically, giving great advice on how to remedy via sleep, diet, or other everyday means in a very approachable manner. It had been many years since I came to Living Tree, but tank was just as warm and welcoming. This time, I came in for some acid reflux/ food poisoning symptoms that had been persisting daily for me for over a month. I felt like I had a lump in my throat and didn't have an appetite. 2 days after treatment here, the lump feeling was finally gone and I gained an appetite again! I came for another follow up treatment to continue healing, and felt so much better after that as well. The treatment overall is very relaxing and I love that it actually truly helps my healing. Thank you tank!

I tried everything under the sun before finding Marie. I worked with her about twice a week for roughly 12 weeks, and the shift was profound. Now I see her as needed & it's always supportive. Her needling is incredibly skilled in terms of choosing points, but not too many at once and insertion is gentle even for a sensitive person like me, Beyond her technical expertise, Marie is just an amazing human. She listens deeply, is flexible and responsive, and offers thoughtful guidance that feels truly individualized & based on how my body is doing that day (she feels for pulse & looks at tongue). Her wisdom is at the forefront & she encourages tapping into your own wisdom. She creates an atmosphere of trust, safety, and open communication that made a huge difference in my healing. She is also excellent at offering recommendations for supplements & other practitioners, without ever being pushy. Virtual communication via text & email are prompt & supportive and scheduling feels really easy (online & via text) and communication smooth. Her assistant Lindsay is very helpful too and they also provide superbills, which made it possible for me to get partial out of network reimbursement through my insurance (of course depends on your plan). I felt supported on every level. I cannot recommend Marie highly enough. Oh and when Marie was out of office she even had coverage from another great practitioner so my care was consistent.

Marie is incredible. Knowledgeable, supportive, and effective in acupuncture and related treatments.read more

This is my go-to place in the area because they open late and provide good service. Similar apothecaries in Oakland Chinatown close at 6pm and are usually more crowded so you'll have to wait ~10-20 mins longer for a custom order. Also you can get a bubble tea while you wait, if you're into that sort of treat. Note: If the formula is in pinyin they can fill it for you (I usually write it out in Chinese characters). It's true they don't speak much English, but at least service is friendly. They have a good selection of bulk herbs and do not display endangered species, which I appreciate. The price is very affordable, but if you need your herbs to be higher quality (i.e. gluten free, pesticide free, etc.) and don't mind paying more for it, try Shen Clinic down San Pablo near Marin Ave. They carry Springwind Herbs which tests for 400 kinds of pesticides.

He understands that healing the physical body involves harmonizing the mind and spirit as a sacred triune. He is ever so patient, and highly sensitive to your emotional state and vitalities. He is a healer's healer, and one that you hesitate to share on forums like this. I grew up with acupuncture and have been a practitioner of the healing arts for over 20 years. What makes Dr. Miura unique is a lot of things, but to name a few: 1. He has a deep relationship with the herbs & cultivating a blend for you that is directed to your system. I've had other acupuncturists give me more basic formulas for symptoms that after a certain point, felt like a western dr. prescribing aspirin, more generic. 2. I've never received the same needling patterns twice. He has this rare creative capacity to see my energy fresh each session in the moment & apply the needles like an artist with a blank canvass. He is in tune with divine inspiration, not a textbook (though I know that plays in) and it engenders deep trust in my body and healing process. 3. He is not afraid of big scary labels & working with western medicine. We go over any new bloodwork, ultrasounds, CT scans each session & weave that into the process. 4. LIke others have mentioned, his integrity, reverence for healing, & dedication to service is very clear. Since seeing him, my foundational health has become much stronger. I notice I don't tend to get sick when others around me are. The western doctors are no longer screaming cancer & surgery and are comfortable with 6 mo. ultrasound check-ins as the ovarian mass resolves. He also has worked with my HCSA card through Marriott, which has been very helpful.
