It's refreshing to get that kind of personal touch, especially in a place that might seem like just another big-box store. Total Wine & More really does a good job providing a wide array of products for a great price. I've been here several times and never leave disappointed (except for one thing that I'll mention later). Their employees know their products and can make smart recommendations based on what you're looking for. Samples? Yes please! At one visit, an employee pointed out a good whiskey that he thought I'd like. Lo and behold, it was one of the samples, so I was able to "try before I buy". I like that. On another visit, I was lured into a back room for a tequila tasting. Not liking, I tried to decline, but was convinced to give them a try - and I was not disappointed. Also, I like how at the front of the store they have racks of "airplane bottles" - small "samplers" that you can buy to try out various products. Again - I like this idea. It was a way for me to try peanut butter whiskey without sinking too much into a larger bottle... So yeah - they're the big guy on the block, but I like the service they provide, and the deals that I get. I would LOVE it if they were able to track down a bottle of Thomas Tew rum. This is a personal goal of mine (I have my reasons), but I understand they are a small brand only found on the east coast. Someday...

While they didn't carry any air fresheners, they did carry incense and an impressive variety of smoking and vaping products. From cigarillos and rolling papers to quality glass pieces, vapes, torches, ashtrays, and other unique accessories that were all fairly priced too. The owner, Nick, has top-notch customer service and is just a genuinely good guy. Because Nick was such a cool dude, I ended up stopping by regularly just to check in and shop at the store. Great family man running a great local business! Going to miss stopping by once I head home, but I'll definitely be back whenever I'm in Madison. It has an amazing selection, and so well organized. Second trip was later that evening for a smoke and a couple of cocktails. The bar is damn cool with the glass wall humidor back drop. We took his suggestions on what to smoke and they smelled great. This was the dads of our friends group taking a siesta from our kids at the Wilderness Resort. The couches were very comfortable and the room was very relaxed. I won't bother trying to review the goods, cause what do I know? But the experience was great. I recommend this location.
