What a lovely setup here. This was our 1st outdoor event of the season and it was great night to…read moretry out this venue. A friend told us about the Tuesday night specials here which tonight's was build your own pizza. They serve very reasonably priced alcohol and have live music. Music was a tad loud but the guy probably turned it up bc he was outdoors. The pizza was so so but maybe my impression is influenced by my choice of toppings: bacon, tomato, pineapple and black olives. I should have added chicken too. Please note that this event was held on covered patio which is next door to the old church or "Abbey". They had the church/abbey open so I went in to see all updates. Really a very nice space. Haven't been to anything held there so I can't say more than it looks nice.

We booked the venue for our ceremony in February, the pandemic obviously hit in March. Throughout all the changes in the pandemic guidelines, MSA didn't contact us. I had to call and check on our ceremony status every time. In August, the state really tightened the restrictions - all reception halls were closed, including MSA - a month before our wedding. Our reception hall canceled us and we ended up moving our entire wedding to Missouri. Every single business gave us our money back...EXCEPT MAIN STREET ABBEY. They wouldn't refund our deposit, they said we could re-book within a year, but we didn't have a need to. They said that's what was agreed to in the contract, but I signed many contracts and other businesses understood that we're in a pandemic and this was out of anyone's control. Businesses that did give us money back include: Turner Hall, Bountiful Blossoms, and Bloomin Diehls. I would HIGHLY recommend any of those businesses. I also know that Hecker Dome was refunding couples their deposit amid the pandemic. I suggest supporting businesses that are kind and understanding considering these circumstances, Main Street Abbey just isn't one of those. I just don't want other couples to lose their money also.

They advertised it as free admission with cash bar and food. I reserved a table for 10. Arriving at the event we learned that the tables actually weren't reserved and only sat 8 people. Ha. We had arrived in plenty of time to get a good table and pull up a couple of chairs. No problem. Cash bar was staffed by experienced people who provided great service. The St Pats day food was served buffet style- we kept looking for a place to pay for our food but it was free! And quite frankly delicious. Corned beef, cabbage and potatoes served stew style. Cornbread or French bread, Ham and bean soup also served. Cupcakes for dessert. Another bonus was the band starting early. Woo hoo. One suggestion for management- seek out better quality of wine. I know Wild Sun is happy to work with you on that. (No I am not affiliated with them at all I just heard Mark say that)

Not a huge deal, but undesirable when you're trying to enjoy a meal Turns out, the meal was not enjoyable because 2 of the side dishes were cold! Not lukewarm, cold! Ruined the whole meal I mentioned same to the manager whose reply was "hmm, I was the last one to eat and mine was not cold" Well everyone at my table agreed that 2 items on their plate was not warm at all. Did the manager think I was making up a story ????? Further convo resulted in no offer to talk to the kitchen staff in order to prevent this from happening again, just a terse "sorry" I will not be back

First there is the name which give you a hint of the vibe, an old school reimagined as a boutique hotel. The school themed decor follows through from the minute you walk in the door to your room. The designers thoughtfully left many elements of the school and incorporated them perfectly. The rooms are spacious and well thought out too. Beds are comfortable bathrooms are well lit (hard to find in hotels) and every space is exceptionally clean. I stayed on a Monday so the restaurant was not open but no worries there are a number of good restaurant choices within a 2 block walk. The only issue is a minor one that wouldn't matter if you don't work out when traveling. The workout room only has one elliptical machine, 2 treadmills and a few weights. The elliptical was a brand I was not familiar with and I wasn't able to get it going to use. The space is small but large enough to add a bike or another elliptical. I would love to find more hotels like this when traveling for work, it would make it more fun. I would definately stay here if I come through again. I can see where this would be a fun place to host an event.
