True Hidden Gem. No, really, it's actually hidden and hard to find. I ordered the chicken satay as an appetizer and pad Thai with chicken. Both were super delicious. Port Ayan sizes were great. I ended up taking some home with me. They have a really cool and relaxing outdoor dining area with tons of flowers and plants. They have a smaller indoor dining area. This place is good for medium to small groups. Finding the place was a little bit hard. I followed the GPS, but even that looked confusing when you're entering in, but trust the GPS and it'll take you to the parking lot that you need to be in. Your Fam is getting the craving for Thai, but your fav Thai restaurant has been "Closed Temporarily" for what feels like an eternity. Guess it's time to branch out and try some other local spots. After a quick search came across Tumeric Thai Kitchen. Was more than pleasantly surprised just how close it was. While the map said La Jolla - it was far enough removed from all the major beach traffic. Packed up the whole family and jetted out to what would hopefully be a new Thai spot. Even leaving guests said its as amazing, sadly though things didn't quite worked out like we wanted. The location is wonderful, it's the quaint little shop. Each of the tables had plenty of space from each other, which gave a very private feeling. The outside looked ideal for eating, but there appeared to be a storm coming in. We looked over the menus and I was a touched confused, they had the standard curries: Green, Yellow, Red but Panang was by itself and served with Stew Beef... I asked if I could get it with Chicken, and the staff was very accommodating. My wife went with Green, and we got the kids a Red Curry and Satay Chicken. Once the food had arrived I became very confused, while there appeared to be a ton of spice on my Panang it was super bland. What made things even stranger were the wide range of temperatures. The Curry itself was lukewarm, and the chicken itself felt hot enough but still gave me pause with each bite. By the time I finished my food, I was wondering if I was going to have problems later on.The Green Curry was in a similar setup, very bland and kinda cold in places. The only one that was good was the Red Curry and Satay Chicken my kids loved it. With any Thai restaurant visit you gotta get some Fried Banana and Coconut Ice Cream. So we ordered that - while the food arrived in a timely fashion the dessert didn't. It literally took almost 20mins to get the dessert. During which time I was able to pay and get us packed up to leave. The dessert finally did show and everyone loved it. I'm not sure I would go back here again for a round 2. While the atmosphere is really nice, tables have enough privacy and it felt very quaint. Tumeric Thai Kitchen is a small restaurant located up the hills of La Jolla in a cul de sac of Windermere a gated community. Plenty of free parking in the lot. This is a casual restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. I was always curious about trying this restaurant from the raving reviews of some yelp friends. As someone who has visited Phuket in Thailand where the food was amazing, my expectation for any comparable thai food is high. Ordered my usual favorites: papaya salad, green curry with veggies tofu and pad thai noodles with shrimp. Every dish was presented nicely and the garden setting was ideal. After taking pics, I tried a taste of the small soup with tofu and enoki mushrooms and found it to be too sweet. The papaya salad looked lovely but was disappointed it lacked flavor, and the shredded papaya was hard to chew, perhaps a little too green. The green curry with tofu and veggies was delicious with the steamed brown rice. The shrimp pad thai noodles tasted too sweet and missing additional herbs. Felt disappointed as I so anticipated a great meal. I had everything boxed Togo. Service was ok but could use improvement by both the young male and female staffers. Although the garden setting was lovely, the food lacked the seductive flavors certainly incomparable to the same dishes I had in Phuket. If your taste buds are not as picky as mine, perhaps this place is worth trying. read more

I arranged for my team from work to have a going away lunch here. It was hard to find a place that was open on Monday for lunch and that would take a reservation, so I was really happy to find Turmeric Thai Kitchen. Everyone on my team loves Thai food, so it was a great choice. The atmosphere was nice. We probably would've enjoyed being outside more, but that week had been rainy often on, and it was great that they could actually accommodate our entire team indoors. The staff there was really nice and I thought our meals came out in a reasonable amount of time. Everyone absolutely loved their food. We all said we would definitely eat there again. We really appreciated how many different options there were on the menu and they were able to meet everyone's dietary needs easily. I would definitely recommend turmeric Thai kitchen. If I could give ten stars I would! What a hidden gem! We celebrated a birthday dinner with ten of us present and it was the first time for all of us at this restaurant. I was greeted right away with warmth and kindness. The ambiance was very charming and romantic. Our server was kind, patient and very accommodating the whole time even though I feel we were a challenging crew to handle with having a hard time making up our minds. The food came out fast and we all loved our dishes. Some of the dishes we ordered were fresh spring rolls, pumpkin curry, red curry, spicy cod and Turmeric seafood all delicious. Came here for a work lunch at 11:30AM on a Thursday. Relatively empty, as expected, but because they were just getting started up for the day the service was pretty slow. Had trouble getting waters out to the table and the kitchen staff had to come out to serve and was in a rush to get back in. I've been here multiple times for work lunches, and the food is alright. Pad thai is pretty greasy but at the same time could be a little more flavorful. The spicy cod that I ordered this time was a little dry, both the fish and the rice. Not particularly cheap either. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Every time I have been here there are bees and wasps flying around because of all the plants they keep in their outdoor dining area, which isn't really their fault, but might be a reason to opt to sit indoors for those who particularly mind. Tucked in the back of a small shopping plaza near Mount Soledad is a charming and delicious Thai spot. The chicken pad Thai was light and fresh with accommodations made for my gluten allergy by the kitchen. The pumpkin curry was recommended by the server and was a flavorful, warm dish perfect for a cold winter night. We dined in early so the service was good as the restaurant wasn't too crowded. Came here with friends for a weekday lunch. It was pretty empty except for 2 other parties. We sat outside on the cute patio. That was where everyone was seated. The interior rooms had furniture that looked dated. The outdoor patio has nice succulent planters around and lots of shade. The service was great. The young man who was our waiter that day made sure we weren't going to feel forgotten. He checked on us often and always with a smile. We all got the lunch special. I'm used to spicy Thai food and ordered a level 7 for my vegetarian drunken noodles. It wasn't spicy, but it was still good with lots of vegetables and tofu. The drive there is all residentials, but this restaurant is in a tiny plaza with plenty of parking and a market. Cute ambiance and decoration. The seating is outdoors - feels homey and Christmas-like with all the lights wrapped around the trees. The food was delicious and came in big, sharable portions. They have you rate the spice level 1-10. Unfortunately, our server did not speak English well and kept insisting to give a rating of 1-10 on spice level. I tried a level 5 on my tom yum soup and that gave it the perfect kick! We ordered: tom yum chicken, fried egg rolls, chicken fried rice, and vegetable pad see ew.
