Tried Aroi recently and overall it was a good experience! We ordered the tom yum, pad thai, and yellow curry. I liked that they let you choose spice levels from 1-10, but I did notice the spice felt a bit inconsistent across dishes. The pad thai was actually the spiciest even though we only chose level 5, so just a heads up if you're sensitive to spice. I think I would've enjoyed it even more at a slightly lower level, so that one's on me. The tom yum soup had great flavor, though it leaned a little sweeter than I personally prefer. The Thai tea was solid, but not very sweet, which made it taste a bit watered down to me. Overall still a good spot, just something to keep in mind with spice levels and sweetness preferences :)
If you're in la Jolla craving Thai Food, Aroi it's definitely worth a stop just come hungry because there's a lot to try What we ordered: * Crispy Pork with Basil - 5/5 This was honestly unexpected. I thought the pork belly might be dry, but it was the exact opposite super juicy, flavorful, and easily one of our favorite dishes of the night. The fried egg on top just brought everything together. * Papaya Salad - 3/5 We got it at level 3 spice and the flavor was spot on. Super refreshing and perfect for cutting through the heavier, greasier dishes. * Crying Tiger Salad - 2/5 I've had their crying tiger before and loved it, but this time the steak wasn't very tender. Flavor was still there, but compared to everything else, this one fell short. * Tom Yum Soup (seafood) - 3/5 Good for what it was--reminded me a lot of Vietnamese sweet and sour soup. Solid, but nothing super memorable. * Drunken Noodles (beef) - 5/5 Another favorite of the night. Perfectly cooked, flavorful, and exactly what you want when you're craving drunken noodles. * Thai Boat Noodles (beef) - 2/5 It was alright, but I've definitely had better elsewhere, so this one didn't stand out. * Pad Thai (shrimp) - 4/5 You can't have Thai night without pad thai. This one was good and satisfying, just nothing particularly special. * Mango Sticky Rice - 3/5 Nice way to end the meal, but pretty standard. * Thai Iced Tea - 5/5 SO good. Definitely a must order. Overall: Service was super fast we spent more time deciding what to order than waiting for the food to come out. The space is on the smaller side, so it might be tricky for bigger groups, but the food and efficiency make up for it. If you're in the area, I'd definitely check them out!
AROI THAI @ LA JOLLA parking is available in their plaza and it's open to anyone visiting the shops there. my friends and i came on a sunday night, and i had actually been to their carlsbad location before, so i was excited to try the la jolla one. when you first walk in, the entrance is a little confusing since the staircase is only on the left side, so you kind of have to go around to find it. once you get upstairs, the restaurant is on your left. inside, it has a really cozy, family-style vibe. we were seated right away and the staff was super friendly. they even offered free thai tea if you leave a google or yelp review, which was a nice touch. for food, i got the pad see ew with combo meat (chicken, beef, and pork), which i loved because i like trying different proteins in one dish. my boyfriend got the pad kee mao (drunken noodles), which has wider noodles, a slightly different sauce, and bell peppers. my friend ordered the crispy pork with basil over rice, and that looked really good too. overall, i'd definitely recommend stopping by if you're in la jolla and craving thai food. it is a bit on the pricier side (around $20 per dish), but the food and ambiance make it worth it.
I've been here a few times before but always for take-out. This was our first time dining in and loved it even more! My party of eight was seated immediately and enjoyed our private dining area. We started with iced coffees, Thai teas, and a few appetizers. We have two vegans in our party and they both claimed that they just had the best vegan meal ever. Our meaty dishes were pad prik king, papa's noodles, pumpkin curry, panang curry, crab fried rice, and more. Every dish was delicious and customized to the diner's spice level. Kudos to our waitress who constantly refilled our drinks, delivered dishes in a timely manner, and quickly removed empty dishes. Can't wait to eat here again!

One of my favorite Thai restaurants. I was in the mood for something different so I got Khao Soi chicken. It's essentially an egg noodle dish in very thick curry. A traditional northern Thai dish and was made popular by tourists who have been to Chiangmai. You typically eat it with fresh veggies and pickled cabbage. The pickled cabbage goes really well with the thick curry. Khao Soi was yummy. Some of the noodle is deep fried and gives different texture when soaked in the curry sauce. I definitely enjoy the dish. My friend ordered chicken drunken noodle and larb. Both dishes were great as usual. It was really hard for us to not overeat but we mustered up all of our self control and packed the leftover food home. They typically make really good stir fried noodle. So if you love Pad See Ew or drunken noodle, really give this place a try. Other dishes are good too but stir fried noodle is really the best.
Absolutely delicious! The shrimp dish was packed with flavor--fresh, perfectly cooked, and covered in a rich, savory sauce. The vegetables were fresh and complemented the meal perfectly. Great presentation, generous portions, and excellent service. Aroi Thai never disappoints. Highly recommend if you're in La Jolla!

Foods here are phenomenal! We ordered panang curry, it's very tasty and full of flavor. Pineapple fried rice is also very tasty. The best dish is the tom kha soup, tasted very refreshing.
The food was delicious. We shared the fried shrimp appetizer and I had the vegetable fried rice and hubby had the shrimp fried rice. The ginger lemonade was really refreshing. We visited on a Sunday evening at about 5pm and there was a steady stream of people coming in and by the time we left there was a full house. The servers were very kind, but it was very busy for two people handling orders for dining in and pick ups. When in La Jolla I will definitely come back.
Rainy day in La Jolla with one of my besties and she invited me to have so hot soup to warm us up. I loved my coconut seafood soup and my friend enjoyed hers so much too. She goes there frequently as she works at a restaurant across the street. Nice small place, calm and fast service.

Great Thai food with excellent flavors and spicing. The drunken noodles with beef were our favorite dish, while the red curry with chicken was incredible at a perfectly medium spice level. The crispy pork belly with Chinese broccoli was phenomenal, and the tom yum soup rounded everything out nicely. Service was super friendly and attentive throughout the meal. Food came out together and hot, which we appreciated. The ambiance was great with good lighting and it stayed nice and quiet. Loved the music they had playing. It's a small restaurant that stays peaceful since it doesn't get overcrowded. Portions are quite large so the prices are reasonable for what you get. The restaurant was clean and well maintained. Will be coming back to try more dishes! read more

They always have seats, and it's never a long wait for your food! Our server is so friendly and nice, my friend and I had a great time chatting with her! It's a very chill restaurant, a great spot to catch up with a friend or to even eat by yourself. I tried the yellow curry. Surprisingly, they have fish sauce in their yellow curry so it's not vegetarian unfortunately. It was still very good and enjoyed the fact that they have a combo (beef, chicken, pork). We ordered Drunken Noodles to be delivered. The noodles were wide and delicious. The egg and meat pieces were flavorful. There was not a smooth taste but kind of grainy like texture to the sauce that sat on the wide noodles. The flavor was good but not the finished texture on the noodles. read more

Amazing Thai restaurant with very unique tasty dishes like Rad Na (OMG) and Century Egg with Crispy Basil! Definitely a winner. Great service (shout out to Mae for keeping my water glass full), relaxed atmosphere, and prices that were much less than other Thai restaurants. Also enjoyed the calamari appetizer. Popped in here before a show at the comedy club after reading such highly rated reviews on Yelp. The service was good, our waitress was friendly but the food was disappointing. We started with the fried summer rolls which were piping hot and came with a plum sauce. The hubby ordered the Pad Thai with chicken. The flavors were decent, but it was very saucy and the spice level was mild. I ordered the Pad Prink Khing and it was swimming in sauce, not spicy whatsoever, and lacked flavor. The chicken could've been stir fried more to add texture and the sauce reduced. I wouldn't recommend this place unless you're in a pinch. read more
Cheesecake Factory portions of Thai food!! Prices seemed high until you compared the amount with other Thai restaurants. Service was quick and friendly, ample indoor seating that's clean, bathroom was also clean though the type of tile on the floor looked dirty with black in the crevices. Sorry I didn't get a picture of their DUCK panang curry. Dove in as soon as it arrived, it was so good (full of duck meat) that I devoured it before taking a photo. Why did I deduct a star? A few reasons. 1) You can tell the Chicken used was water plumped, so lower quality than some other restaurants, for their satay (skewers). 2) Rice in pineapple fried rice wasn't plump and fresh. 3)their peanut sauce only comes piping hot so it melted the plastic to-go container for leftovers (huge carcinogen). All in all, good place to satisfy your thai food craving if you don't want to travel far, sit in traffic, or deal with parking. Ample parking spaces here in the Pavilion's shopping center. Restaurant is across the parking lot, facing Pavilion's. read more

What an adorable Thai place in downtown La Jolla! Tourist review here-- was starving after spending much time at the ocean! Was wondering around La Jolla looking for somewhere to eat! Couldn't really decide. Stumbled upon this place! So adorable! The sun was shining, the weather was great and it smelled amazing! I got the chicken pad Thai without bean sports mild spice and a Sprite! 10/10 the service was great, the food was great and the portion size was huge!!! I would for sure come back here next time in La Jolla! The place was well lit, well decorated and gave a Thai charm right off the beach! read more

it was quite crowded around the area on valentine's day, but we happened to stop by & im so glad that we stayed! first off, the service / environment was warm & intentional- we felt extremely taken care of. secondly, the food was INSANELY good! we started off with the wonton soup & pad thai-- both were fantastic, but the pad thai was the clear winner; packed with lots of flavor variety & just the right amount for two people. lastly, the dessert was the perfect end to this amazing meal, you must get the thai donuts-- i can't say i've had anything similar to them so make sure to grab some on your visit here! thanks for making our valentine's day extra special! read more
