We got seated quickly and we had a party of 7. The lady was able to squeeze tables together and we were all able to sit together. Food came out quickly and very flavorful. Staff was really nice and attentive. Can't wait to come back and try more dishes!

AROI is from Thai language and means delicious. AROI is a Thai restaurant on Prospect Ave in La Jolla. Limited metered street parking is a challenge especially in this touristy busy area. For reference, this restaurant is across the street from Eddie V's were I'm a frequent diner. This restaurant does not have ocean views, just the view of the Prospect Ave. where you can sit at the covered outdoor patio and people watch makes for a fun visual vibe. Service from the only waitress was helpful and nice. The restaurant has seating indoor and outdoor. There's a tv monitor tuned in on a Thai channel with subtitles. As a fan of thai curry dishes, I was drawn inside for the pumpkin curry dish. This was prepared and presented nicely, it tasted as good as it looked. There was ample veggies, tofu and of course pumpkin pieces in the delicious rich curry, which had a thick viscosity and quite filling. The steamed white rice was the perfect pairing and all I wanted along with a thai ice tea. After a few bites, I had to have my dish packed togo, as it was too voluminous for me to eat. Will have to return to try other menu selections but if you like delicious thai curry, AROI is worthy of your visit. Recommend

One of the best Thai spots in San Diego hands down. I ordered the Pad Thai with pork here for happy hour special and it was amazing! I arrived a few minutes late after the happy hour ended and they still honored the deal for me regardless which speaks highly of them. I was overall very satisfied with the service. Highly recommend for anyone!

Very nice service. She is very friendly. I love the foods and Thai tea. The place is very clean and beautifully decorated

"Great authentic Thai food with amazing flavors and friendly service. Fresh ingredients, generous portions, and a true taste of Thailand. Highly recommend!"

We stopped into Aroi Thai on Prospect after a beautiful hike around the cliffs and caves. The restaurant is cute and welcoming. The staff is the same. You can choose from indoor seating or outdoor patio dining. I ordered the shrimp pad Thai and chicken satay along with some Thai iced tea. All of them were fantastic! My friend ordered spicy chicken noodles and the curry puffs which she loved. It was fun watching people walk by while we ate on the patio. The lady who served us was super nice to my daughter who loved the candy in the front by the register. We will definitely be back.

So many choices of so much good food. And the service is excellent. Good thing we kept on walking up, until we found this authentic Thai cuisine

I have come here quite a few times. To find parking just to get here is a complete nightmare, but I come because I love Thai food. I came today and arrived to order dinner at 4:22pm. There was a couple checking out at the register and I waited in line to order food to go. When I got to the register the guy said they are closed until 4:30. Over 8 minutes I was turned away from ordering. They had 3 active tables that were being waited on. It took me forever to find a parking spot. Their online hours say they are open through 8:30pm, no closing at 4:30. This was extremely unprofessional and not nice and really hurt my feelings and embarrassed me in front of the people that were paying checking out. I'll never eat here again. Not only is their food the most expensive Thai place I've eaten at, but now this kind of service just is very upsetting.

Great Thai food with friendly service in a humble setting in La Jolla! We came here for lunch and were able to get seated immediately. We got the combo platter and everything had good flavor and was perfect to split amongst our group of four. We also got the Papaya Salad and it had a good salty and sweet taste that was balanced with a mild heat. For my main dish, I got the Chicken Khao Soi and it was fall-off-the bone soft and perfectly cooked! Lots of good curry flavors and the noodles were tasty.

dining during sunset was nice sitting outside so you can see the sky change and it set a good vibe. i really liked the food, surprising for la jolla too! got the pad kee mao and it was seasoned well, not too salty or bland. 7/10 spice wasn't that spicy so if you like spice, you can go higher. server was nice and attentive as well. it was a little pricey but expected for la jolla. would come back!

Couldn't decide what to get, and got to try other items from family plates! I got to have their curry puff appetizer and Thai tea while waiting for my family to arrive. I ordered drunken noodles with beef spice level 7! I loved it!! So flavorful and great on being spicy, my family members got curry and fried rice which was also delicious. I loved the protein/meat choice along with customization of spice for any of the dishes they offer. Service was great and food came out fast. Would come again if I come back in the area.

They offer different levels of spiciness, which was a nice touch. The curry was perfectly prepared--not overwhelmingly spicy like at some places where all you taste is heat. Here, the flavors were well-balanced and delicious. The mango sticky rice was okay. The mango was fresh and delicious, but the rice itself was a bit too sweet and not as creamy as I expected. Guess it's time to branch out and try some other local spots. After a quick search came across Tumeric Thai Kitchen. Was more than pleasantly surprised just how close it was. While the map said La Jolla - it was far enough removed from all the major beach traffic. Packed up the whole family and jetted out to what would hopefully be a new Thai spot. Even leaving guests said its as amazing, sadly though things didn't quite worked out like we wanted. The location is wonderful, it's the quaint little shop. Each of the tables had plenty of space from each other, which gave a very private feeling. The outside looked ideal for eating, but there appeared to be a storm coming in. We looked over the menus and I was a touched confused, they had the standard curries: Green, Yellow, Red but Panang was by itself and served with Stew Beef... I asked if I could get it with Chicken, and the staff was very accommodating. My wife went with Green, and we got the kids a Red Curry and Satay Chicken. Once the food had arrived I became very confused, while there appeared to be a ton of spice on my Panang it was super bland. What made things even stranger were the wide range of temperatures. The Curry itself was lukewarm, and the chicken itself felt hot enough but still gave me pause with each bite. By the time I finished my food, I was wondering if I was going to have problems later on.The Green Curry was in a similar setup, very bland and kinda cold in places. The only one that was good was the Red Curry and Satay Chicken my kids loved it. With any Thai restaurant visit you gotta get some Fried Banana and Coconut Ice Cream. So we ordered that - while the food arrived in a timely fashion the dessert didn't. It literally took almost 20mins to get the dessert. During which time I was able to pay and get us packed up to leave. The dessert finally did show and everyone loved it. I'm not sure I would go back here again for a round 2. While the atmosphere is really nice, tables have enough privacy and it felt very quaint. The food seems to be all over the place, worse is it was very bland - I wanted some spice Here's hoping that it was just a fluke but 2 out of 3 Curries being bland and random temperatures seems concerning.

The nearby curbside parking situation was quite easy this time probably because the rain had kept people inside. I remembered that the seating capacity used to be larger than what it is now which was only sufficient for about 10 diners. It could be a reflection that the vast majority of their business was from takeout orders. There was a laminated two-page menu sheet at the service counter. Appetizers, soups, and salads were listed on one side. The other side displayed the chef specialties, curries, entrees, fried rice, noodles, sides, drinks, and desserts. At least half a dozen dishes had an X mark next to them which meant they were unavailable. From the four Fried Rice choices, I picked the Crabby version ($22). Jasmine rice, egg, spring onions, garlic, and real crab meat were the ingredients along with Thai seasoning. When the item was rung up on the register, it was priced at $24. I don't know why there was a discrepancy, but I didn't want to initiate a dispute so I kept quiet. I took a seat at a table and soon afterward, a bowl containing the contents was brought out. The rice was steaming hot. I asked for mild spiciness at level three, however it had more kick than I expected and left a buzz on my palate. The portion size was good, but not for $24 which was the most expensive I have seen for a crab variety. I gave a 3.5 star rating for my dinner at Hot or Not Thai.
