It's a family owned business and they work their tails off! When I go, I always think about getting something other than the fried chicken, but when I go through the line, I start smelling that fried chicken and I see that crispy skin and I mouth just starts watering. They are the best "home cooking" restaurant in Ouachita Parish. It would cost you a fortune to have the same order at Piccadilly. Everything I have had on their menu is delicious. The family/owners always have smile on their faces. I took my brother-in-law from Oregon here when he visited and he talked about it the rest of his life. If you're a local and you haven't been here, GO! If you are visiting the area, you won't find better food in the entire parish if you're looking for home cooking, but be ready for a nap! I just promised my own brother, who has never been there, that I'm taking him ASAP! PS....their dessert are THU BOMB! AND HUGE PORTIONS, one is enough for two people. The meal also included a roll similar to a kings Hawaiian, a slice of cornbread, a slice of cinnamon cake, and a choice of drink which was koolaide or bottle water (since I am diabetic We went with water), also a side of hot sauce and small container of cranberry sauce.The man and I shared the plate and it was enough for the two of us or easily one really hungry person. The pork chop was so tender we didn't need a knife and the gravy was so flavorful. The rice was lightly seasoned and I appreciated the gravy on it (next time I will ask for extra gravy). The cornbread was sweet and the roll was soft. I loved the cabbage it was soft and had a sweet flavor to it. Overall I can't wait to go back and try more things on Sundays. The meal was about $14 and some change and that included a 3% credit card charge which was fine.

I was still very excited about the dish and was open to the substitution. Her response was essentially, "Well, it's supposed to be served that way. That's what makes a Benedict a Benedict, but I guess I'll see if we can do that." As someone who has also worked in the service industry, I completely understand that restaurants have certain ways they prepare and serve their dishes, and I understand that substitutions aren't always possible. What disappointed me was the tone and the lack of warmth in the interaction. There was no need for my request to feel like an inconvenience, especially when I was simply explaining a dietary/texture preference and asking if there was another option. Honestly, after that first interaction, I almost didn't want to order at all because I wondered how the rest of the experience would go. I want to emphasize that the restaurant itself is beautiful, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere has so much potential. My experience with the other staff members was positive, which made the interaction with our server stand out even more. I'm praying for Kandi and genuinely hope she was simply having a rough day. I don't know what she may have been dealing with that day, and I never want to judge someone based on one interaction. We started with the upside down chicken Caesar salad with fries. Delicious. Fries could've been hotter but the salad was the star. A meal on its own but i love that red fish so much. On any given day, you could go in for lunch and see a virtual "Who's Who" of society in this little building, clamoring for a monstrous plate. The servings were huge and the BBQ ribs on Fridays were things that dreams were made of. Now, I believe the ownership changed and it's subsequently gone down hill. Everyone that I speak to harkens back to the good ol days and sad to say, I don't think they'll be open much longer.
