I stopped in here on Sunday morning during the big shopping rush. Despite the crowd, everything was…read morewell-stocked and the place was relatively clean. The selection of products isn't quite the variety of some of the main Price Choppers, and this location is a little on the older side. The layout isn't quite as organized as some of the other newer Price Choppers. Some employees were out stocking the shelves, keeping up with the flow, but it was impossible to find employees working the floor and the lines in places such as the deli were enormous and delayed. The sales tax in PA is 6%, as opposed to NY's skyrocketing tax rates. This is conveniently located just next to the state line, and is cheaper than buying in NY. For those NY residents who happen to be in the area, it's a cost savings to stop in NJ and fill up your tank with cheaper gas, and stop into PA (right down the road) to shop here for cheaper groceries. Doing business outside of NY is always a cost savings.

I approached a young woman who I believe is named Jade and asked if there would be any more fried chicken coming out today. She walked over and spoke to a male fellow employee and came back and told me there would be no more fried chicken coming out. I went and sat with my husband who was drinking a beer. I smelled fried chicken aroma in the air. A few minutes later, he went to the same employee and inquired about fried chicken. This employee gave him an eight piece container of freshly made fried chicken. Why did she tell me one thing and then give my husband chicken? Totally bizarre experience.

Always trust a place that has almost 70 reviews and a near perfect 4.9 rating. The reviews don't…read morelie. New Yorkers love their delis, and if just half of them are like this one, I can see why. JJ Delicatessen has an excellent assortment of meats, cheeses and dried goods, many from European countries like Germany and Poland. My girlfriend and I ordered sandwiches on a Saturday morning. We had to wait a little over twenty minutes, and the woman advised that next time we call our orders in ahead of time because the hot sandwiches take awhile. So that's your tip for the day. But they were worth waiting for. Fairly priced, excellent quality, and came with a few sides. I got the Polish sandwich special and my girlfriend got the Mediterranean sandwich special. There is a small seating area in the deli, but we took them with us and ate them in the car. It was a great lunch that we ate right before an afternoon of hiking at High Point State Park in NJ. Highly recommend this deli!

I really wish I could rate this place higher than this, but all that comes to mind when I think of…read morethis place is 'salty.' It seems like this is something of an institution and even for first-timers like us, it's not hard to see why. It's a European-leaning local deli that is clean, well stocked with interesting goodies, and that's is a cozy dining room in the front end of the shop. The two ladies we interacted with were fairly friendly and helpful, and after an agonising few minutes looking at the menu, we decided on the Polish and Italian sandwiches (vs heroes, which are bigger, cost a bit more, and are served on a roll). What I liked was the fresh tasting pickle that comes with the sandwich. In fact, the pickle may have been my favourite thing, period. The macaroni salad and potato salad were enjoyable if not particularly memorable. Now, the sandwiches. They look great, delicious even. We could tell they were made with care. From the first bite though, so I could think was, why's this SO salty? To this day, we're not sure what the culprit(s) were. Without the saltiness, I think they could have been delicious sandwiches. Perhaps this is how the locals like it. Maybe this is some sort of traditional way to prepare these sandwiches. All I know is that it traumatised my taste buds so much that I didn't have an appetite for another meal for the rest of the day. And of course I was quite thirsty for a few hours afterwards. I hope they keep improving and stay open for many more years.
