New in 2026

Returned here in 2026 to see what the new owners did, which didn't appear to be much . Free admission for grandstand people, but no food, just a small bar in the middle of the infield. Probably needed to go fancier to see any changes.

Lots of parking but definitely a bit run down. First time at horse racing and it's definitely thrilling. However the facility is on the older side, no ac, definitely warm inside and the setting on the second level dirty with a solid later of dirt. Overall it's was a good experience

Visited over Derby weekend for their Derby Dayclub. Such a fun and well organized event!

Attended the Turf Paradise Derby Party this past weekend and my sister and I had a pretty good time. The event was fun! The Turf Paradise building itself is pretty old and run down. This place has potential to be great but it's definitely not there. Everything is very outdated and looks like it's stuck back in the 90's. The TV screens inside are old af and not of good quality. We scoped out the bathrooms and I am glad I did not have to use them.. The bleachers are out in the sun with no shade and it's got to be one of the dumbest things ever... how can you not provide any shade, after all we are in AZ guysss -.- We spent most of them time in the VIP tent since this was the only shaded area. When the races would start, we would run out to the fence. Drinks were good and the bartenders were nice! Spent about $150.00 on drinks. The event was great (5 stars) and it was fun to see everyone's attire. This 2 star review is for the place itself, please give it a makeover! :(

I had a blast at the Derby Watch Party. Parking was plentiful, entry was easy, and the vibe was high! What a beautiful way to enjoy a Saturday. Dressing up was so much fun. Since COVID, my dressing game has been hit AND miss. But this was so much fun. All the hats, bow ties, fashions were a show in and of themselves, and I enjoyed people watching just as much as watching the races. If the Watch Party continues into the future, I'd love to have a table with my friends and share this experience with them.

Checking out the Stella Artois Derby DayClub 2024

We went to check out the Stella Artois Derby Day Club 2024 tent at Turf Paradise. We loved seeing all the derby hats and attire and was happy to see there were a variety of different food trucks and activities going on. They had tents with tables set up that you could purchase so you could keep out of the sun. Parking was a little crazy but doable as there were several lots to choose from depending on your tickets. I would recommend checking this out if you this is something you might like. It's definitely a day of people watching with a horse race thrown in.

Really fun place! Entry fees and some things are cash only, but the bars take card. Good selection of beers drinks and snacks but not a full menu. The place is a little run down but it makes for a casual fun vibe and is still worth a visit.

Thanks to Turf Paradise and Bailey at Yelp for hooking us up at the Woodford Reserve Derby Day Club 2023 at Turf Paradise. This was the Phoenix version of the Kentucky Derby. We got to rub elbows in the VIP section. Great people watching, vendors selling hats and clothing, booze, raffle tickets for the races, betting machines. There was a DJ playing good tunes. People paraded by in their best fashions and hats. While the majority of women wore hats, some men participated as well with outrageous hats, pink and/or patterned suits. Drinks were flowing with many snacks for sale. There was another covered area where betting took place. That was very popular. Fee for parking across the street. WiFi available. Fun event!

Let me start by saying I am not a race enthusiast, but when you score tickets to the Woodford Derby Dayclub , you go !! Much thanks to Yelp!!! I had a fabulous time. The vibe was really fun and inclusive and people were really overall just nice. Can we talk about the fun fashion here ? The men were dressed to the nines, and the ladies with your high fashion hats and dresses made event that much more fun. It was very nice to be included in the VIP areas and have such great access. The vendors had a variety of food options, which is always great, I was there for a special event, so I can't say if the food vendors are always there, but the food was tasty. This was definitely a party. The DJ's were there playing great music to get the crowd engaged and going ! I was also able to try a mint julep, which is the official drink of the Derby. Placing a bet was also very easy and it was also very easy to cash out after our big win of six dollars. Lol.

Such a fun time out in the sun. Had a great time watching the horse race and drink in a cold beer. Races ran all day opening up at about 11 AM and ending about 4 PM. If this is your 1st time coming to horse races and you have an interest in betting to your research beforehand so you understand the difference adding slang. I'm guessing a quick YouTube video will get you right up-to-date. Please note that they have 2 different entrances they have the grand stand and they have this nicer area. I believe we pay tickets price of $3 to be in the outside area but there was a area that she could be also inside. What was nice as that she can go and see the horses before they went out to do their races. Another fun tip is that everyday is senior citizen day and I believe the ticket price for a signal citizen is only a dollar every day so that's a really good event price.

Was in Phoenix for the VIP Derby party at Turf Paradise, and the party tents did not disappoint though not nearly the scale of Churchill Downs. Great music and DJs, food trucks, good drink service, great party and concierge service and attendants. I was here once before an bought a race for a friend's birthday in the Clubhouse, and this track is on par with smaller race tracks I enjoy, like Tampa Bay Downs, Indiana, Hollywood before they closed, Suffolk Downs before they closed. The missing 5th star is because of their betting machines that I couldn't get to work for the Derby itself and then the cashiers were slow so I wagered less than I planned. I also couldn't find anyone to buy a program from, as we only had one on the VIP tables and of course I seriously mark mine up! A good solid horse racing track.

We always enjoy race days. It's fun to spend the day at the track BUT Why doesn't this place fix its building. Especially the bathrooms and the ceiling tiles. The entire building is in need of a renovation. We have been coming for years and it looks worse every time. The best area is the track. Is a great way to spend a day with the family and place a few bets along the way.. cheers!

Easy betting with many computers

We love horses and have been to many tracks. Definitely a good time if you have extremely low expectations. Do not compare this place to Santa Anita, or even smaller horse tracks. Sneak in alcohol if you come, because you will get one drink per hour if you sit in the clubhouse. Eat before you arrive or after you leave. Food arrived an hour after we ordered and it was ice cold. We didn't complain because, why? This place is bare bones. We will come back but will follow my recommendations in this post.

They also had vendors inside, a bar and race betting machines. One thing I learned was to reserve tables in advance. I also arrived early when the doors opened so it was easy to find a non reserved spot. What's cool about this venue is we are right by the finish line tracks. You get to see the horses the entire time but the best zone is watching at the finish lines. Drinks for a seltzer were -$12 and a cocktail was ~$14. Overall a fun experience!

There's a large tent with VIP seating, vendors, and bars. There's another outdoor area with reserved tables and live music. And there were two food trucks (a BBQ joint and a grilled cheese spot). Here's the good and the bad: (1) The large tent is supposed to be VIP but there's grass and dirt accompanied by overpriced drinks; (2) You can view the live races from this area; (3) there was a Stella Artois stand that was giving out free samples and a personalized engraved Stella glass; (4) You can go to the other parts of the venue but you can't bring alcohol to the other parts (meaning you have to finish it before you go to other sections); (5) There are no bathrooms. So, not worth the price of admission in my mind. The coolest part of an event like this is seeing how everyone dresses up, especially the women with their elaborate hats and sun dresses. I'd go with general admission, though. Those areas have lower priced drinks, too.

There is a large selection of machines and some table games, a keno room, bingo, and sports book. There were 3-4 young inebriated people that where antagonizing one of the 2 ladies since they sat down very close to her. She had 6 machines and was playing papers also. The inebriated young people kept pushing the lady with 6 machines personal bags closer to her so she wouldn't have much room to play all of her machines and paper. This went on til half way through se and session. There was a drunk boy that started calling both ladies f ing bitches repeatedly. The drunk girl asked if the lady with 6 machines had a problem with her. The lady with 6 machines was trying to daub her papers and and the boy said hey you f ing bitch. The lady with 6 machines said she didn't have a problem with her but would they stop pushing their bags into hers and stop touching her stuff. The inebriated girl started yelling at the lady with 6 machines that they were their first. The inebriated people only had 2 machines. They had plenty of room to play without touching the other ladies bags. But they were antagoni, ing her all evening. Thought it was funny and continued to touch the ladies bags and personal items. The drink girl started yelling MANAGER!! The manager came over and the drunk girl started a big fiasco with the manager. The entire bingo hall heard her. When the manager, Laura, came over she tried to get the drunk kids to move to a different table. The drunk girl yelled" Im not moving, we were here first", those f ing bitches need to move. The drunk boy kept saying to the ladies, "what you gonna do about it" right in front of manager and security. That sounded like a threat. He was threatening the 2 ladies right in front of security, who was being very friendly with drunk girl. The manager snatched the lady with 6 machines, snatched her phone out of her hand and told her she couldn't record the incident. She was answering a text message from her daughter. So manager gave her back her phone. That was uncalled for as the entire fiasco was uncalled for. There were at least 3 security guys around lady with 6 machines. The other lady asked if she could just move all her things down to her area. He said no, and you need to stay out of it or you can leave. Both ladies were trying to be calm. They told the lady with 6 machines she had to move all of her things to another table or leave. They didn't want to hear what really happened even when another player told them the drunk kids were in the wrong. They made the woman with 6 machines leave. They told the other lady she could stay out of it or leave too. After the lady left the drunk kids were laughing and trying to antagonize the other lady. She didn't respond to there potty mouths. She was dabbing her papers and the other ladies papers. One of the floor persons were very nice and apologized to her but she had to take all of the other ladies machines that she was watching. I was told it was because the lady spent over $400 on bonanza alone. And another $300 on machines and papers. They only gave her back the money for bonanza. In my opinion the manager that snatched the ladies phone out of her hand and all 3 of the security guards were very unprofessional. Just because the drunk girl was flirting with them they let them stay and the lady with 6 machines were walked out of the building. They should of made the drunk young people leave. It was not the lady with 6 machines fault. The drunk people were antagonizing her the whole session. So you kick out a loyal bingo player and want to kick out the other lady too, because the drunk people, who didn't spend a penny, got to stay and threaten and cuss at the ladies. Both the ladies play bingo and spend a lot of money in the bingo hall. Yet they were the ones penalized for trying to play bingo while a bunch of drunk young people were there to antagonize and see how far they could get by being rude and disrespectful to the ladies. I doubt that the ladies will be back. They have spent thousands on bingo. The drunk played nothing. But they were young and flirting with security so they kick out the lady who was just there to play bingo. I would be very surprised if lady with 6 machines didn't sue for manager snatching phone out of her hand and security being so stupid and took drunk people's word for everything because they were flirting. This was a very horrible incident to witness. There are too many other bingo halls close by that we will be patronizing instead of casino arizona bingo. This is not the first time security have been unprofessional and rude to other patrons. I've witnessed it 3 other times. They don't want to listen to what really happens. They only pay attention to those that flirt or those that are not white people. I myself am a proud black woman. The 2 ladies were white. The drink people were mixed. Your loss. 5 loyal gone

When you Google exactly "World's Oldest Rodeo Prescott AZ tickets," their official website is nowhere near the top. Instead, you're led to multiple third-party ticketing sites--some of which are even advertised ahead of their own. Like many, I bought tickets through StubHub, assuming any legitimate event would honor them. Wrong. We drove in with the family, paid for parking, and showed up with digital tickets in hand--only to be denied entry at the gate. The staff told us flatly, "We don't allow third-party ticket sales, so we canceled these tickets." Here's where it gets even more insulting: I asked to simply purchase the same seats at their box office. The woman replied, "Those seats are not available." So let's recap: * They allow tickets to be sold on third-party platforms * They cancel those tickets without notifying buyers * They resell the same seats after voiding the originals That's not just poor customer service--it's dishonest. This rodeo might be the oldest, but their ticketing practices are the most outdated and exploitative I've ever seen. Families travel in for this event, spend money on parking, food, and lodging--only to be shut out because of a system that seems designed to take your money twice. Shame on the organizers for hiding behind tradition while running a backdoor scam. Honor your legacy and get your act together. Until then, skip this event and support rodeos that actually respect their guests.

The food vendors were somewhere in between. That's not a negative comment, please don't take it that way, we just visited the first time and it took a little getting used to, but we figured it out. We just arrived too early, so we felt like we were intruding at first LOL There was a line from about noon to the evening concerts, so come a tad early if you want to avoid all those people.
