Lemon Cake with Lemon Curd Filling & Cream Cheese Icing
Sara G.

I had the Hippie Chick Sandwich with a Lemon Cake Slice (lemon curd filling/cream cheese icing) for dessert...my friend had the pesto grilled cheese with a cupcake for dessert. Tickled pink with our meals! Just, wow! So good. Filling. Tasty. Freshly baked bread! Everything tasted like they know exactly what they're doing. The lemon cake was a special delight for me as I am a sucker for a really good filling: a very rich dessert, but a very special treat! Cute "honey" gift shop in the cafe and also an art room for classes but has local works on display in the art room, and in the main dining area...a nice little place to browse. We dined alfresco on the back patio which was nice on a gorgeous day. (Not quiet (there's an AC unit just off the patio) but gorgeous weather AND we got to pet a local dog, which was plus plus plus and put the dining experience into the bonus for me.) I'm looking forward to going back and I want to try the Tab next time, which has a different twist for me on a turkey sandwich- "The Tab: Boar's Head Turkey, Vermont cheddar cheese, crispy bacon, fresh apple slices tossed in a little lemon and cinnamon, a dab of our homemade apple butter and mayo. Pressed hot to perfection!"

This is an adorable bakery & cafe! The menu wasn't extensive but the food was delicious. I tried the TAB sandwich, which was so yummy. It had bacon, turkey, and apple. It was a perfect combo. I also got a peanut butter sandwich for my daughter and she enjoyed it too. The desserts also looked very yummy. Overall, this is a solid spot. It's also very clean and prices were very affordable. I'd highly recommend this spot if you're in Monticello. They also have a great little side store which sells honey. They had a great variety of honeys, shirts, towels and loads of other goodies. That's another great spot to browse.

Came through the downtown area on the way back from donating items to the local school. My friend wanted to stop at what she described as "a great little place." The cafe is just the right size, indoor seating (there appeared to be one table outside). Good service. I ordered a piece of tomato/feta/spinach quiche and a slice of zucchini bread. My friend ordered the hippie chick salad and a slice of lemon cake. From what I understand, many of their ingredients come from local farms; the to-go container for my quiche appeared to be very biodegradable, which is great; love when restaurants are eco-friendly! While waiting for our order, we were able to step over a few feet to a nice little "gift shop like" store - Full Moon Farm Store. This store had all kinds of goodies, from locally made honey (various flavors) to goat milk scented soaps to essential oils. The young lady at the cash register in the store was so very pleasant. Back to our lunch - I enjoyed the quiche; some spinach on the top was a bit "crispy," but that was fine; the zucchini bread was tasty, though I did not care much for the chocolate chips that I didn't realize were in the bread. My friend enjoyed the chicken salad and her cake. I will plan to visit again and try that famous chicken salad - and perhaps the scones.

Creative and yummy specialty cake

Kim and team are creative and know how to make their food and baked goods stand out. Food is amazing. Store has a great casual vibe and is the spot to meet up with friends. Make this cake a while back to support a girlfriend dealing with breathing cancer. Did a cake to share that we are here to support you! And that we did.

Although a seemingly quaint cafe in a small town, Tupelo's packs a flavorful punch! I have stopped in multiple times over the years while working in the Monticello area and always recommend this cafe to friends. They're scones are the best I've had in the entire area and always on my order when I come in. Seriously, the blueberry scones are incredible! You can taste the fresh berries and the pastry just crumbles apart in your hands. Pair them up with a nice cup of coffee and sandwich, and you're set! Thank you Tupelo's for providing the perfect reason to stop when driving through Monticello!

It's quaint, charming, and has that small-town, heartwarming vibe that makes you want to linger over your coffee a little longer. I ordered the Homemade Hash and Eggs, and it was almost perfect. The portion is hearty, so much so that I couldn't even finish it. But here's the kicker: the dish had absolutely no seasoning. None. Not even a sprinkle of salt and pepper. As someone who loves bold flavors, I found that strange. Thankfully, they had salt and pepper on hand, so after a generous shake (okay, several generous shakes), it turned into exactly what I hoped for: hearty, satisfying, and delicious. The coffee was solid but mild. I'm a "give me an extra espresso shot" kind of girl, so I would have preferred something a bit bolder. They offer basic creamer and sugar options, but I didn't notice any flavored coffee or syrups, so if that's your thing, keep it in mind. If you're a simple coffee drinker, you'll be just fine. What really sets Savannah Moon apart, though, is the service. The girl who greeted and served me was friendly and super sweet, exactly what you'd hope for in a place like this. She was genuine in a way that made me feel like a regular, even though it was my first time here. Overall, this is the quintessential breakfast spot. The prices are average in comparison to most of the sit-down breakfast spots I frequent. It's not trying too hard, it's warm and welcoming, and it just feels like the kind of place you want to visit again (and I definitely will).

I was there for breakfast, and had a Lavazzo cup of coffee, corned beef/potato hash with two basted eggs, and it was delicious. The corned beef hash was not prepared by a chef with precise knife cuts, but how I would do at home--irregularly cut potatoes, onions--it looked like hash! My friend had Eggs Benedict, and she told me they were perfectly delicious. And guess what? Bill was right at $25! Our server was a friendly, attentive young woman, who took good care of us. Run, don't walk, for an amazing breakfast at Savannah Moon Bakery, in downtown Thomasville. Their downtown deserves its own entry on social media.
