My husband and I shared one of their huge smash burgers with a side of onion rings, and everything was absolutely delicious. The candied jalapeños were the perfect sweet-and-spicy addition and might have been my favorite part of the meal! My son ordered the Nashville hot tenders (mild), and they were so good that we were all stealing bites from each other's plates the entire meal. Honestly, every dish that came to our table was a hit. The service was great, and the owner even came by to chat with us, which was such a nice touch. She was incredibly kind and welcoming, and you can tell she genuinely cares about her customers and the food she serves. We'll definitely be back on our way home! Tumbleweeds Diner in Magdalena, NM is an *outstanding* restaurant and absolutely worth a stop. The smash burgers were superb and perfectly matched with their margaritas. The inside is smaller so they can fill-up quickly. I suspect they get quite busy when the nearby Very Large Array [VLA] has open houses / events. The service was fast & friendly and the ambiance is New Mexico casual with some regional and local art on the walls. I supped on a Southwest Chicken Caesar salad with delightful and lightly battered chicken tenders, and an amazing chipotle Caesar dressing that went well with everything on our table. We just stopped by on the way to Kansas and I'm ECSTATIC that we did. They serve the best burgers I've ever had in my entire 70 year life. Well worth a sit down meal stop while on the road! This southwest diner has great food, quick, friendly service and great location. We both had the green chili cheese burger and shared a side of sweet potato fries! So delicious!!! He had the Santa Fe Brewing Co Happy Camper beer and I had the Prickly Pear Margarita. This little restaurant out in the middle of nowhere is great! The double green chile cheeseburger I got was seasoned and cooked well. It was a very good hamburger. I really can't wait to go back and try some of the other burgers made here. I got mine with onion rings and they were delicious. My kid got chicken teriyaki and rice and she loved it. Smash Burgers for the win! I got the cheeseburger and my dad got the mushroom but he switched to cheddar instead of the Swiss. My mom was all over the Mac and cheese with bacon and green chilis. The burger I got was perfectly cooked, the cheeses got to hang out on the grill and get charred and crispy too. Now let me talk pickles for a second. HOMEMADE!!!!! Thin, crunchy and the perfect dill to add flavor to already great burger. My dad said the mushrooms were perfect, the bacon was the best - slabbed thick and crispy. And we both got fries that were crispy, just the right saltiness and plentiful. Mac and cheese was yummy!!!! Conveniently located in the middle of some of the most beautiful mountain views around, I stopped in for food and drink and was absolutely blown away by one of the best flavor experiences I could have treated myself to. My drink (the prickly pear margarita) was extremely refreshing. Stopped by not entirely sure what to expect from a cute shack in the middle of nowhere. Boy were we in for a pleasant surprise. I love finding awesome restaurants in unlikely places, like small towns seemingly in the middle of nowhere. The cafe is eclectic and colorful, and filled with art and other cool things for sale. We visited on a Friday afternoon on our way back from seeing the VLA. Service was friendly and attentive. Our meals arrived quickly. My husband tried the green chile cheeseburger with onion rings and loved it. The onion rings were cooked perfectly so that the onion did not come out when you bit into it. I had the chicken stix with fries. The chicken stix were a little heavy with the seasoned buttermilk batter (for my taste), but were tasty with the ranch dressing that came with it.
