He handed me a key to look at the Governors suite (see video). I returned the next day after hiking to have lunch and peruse the gift shop. Prices are a little higher, however the food is pretty amazing. I split a burger and chips. Food is great in the bar area. Dinning opens in evening but requires reservations. Pets are allowed for Small fee There is a golf course across the parking lot. Majestic views and well kept greens. don't be surprised but if you find yourself golfing around the deer, elk or wild horses. If you're lucky, you may see snow which makes all that much more beautiful. There is rich history of the lodge hanging in the walls and in areas to read upon. This used to be timber country and the original lodge burned down years and years and years ago. While at the Lodge check out Cloudcroft museum to take in all the history that included the Lodge, baby sanatorium and 1st Calvary visits, where it all started this beautifully small town.
