First the good: The store has a little something for everyone. There were collectibles, sports…read morecards, coins, and more. The store was very well lit and seemed to be very clean. The 2 staff I encountered were very friendly nice people. Now the bad: I can only speak about bullion (silver and gold) cause that's all I cared about or looked at. First I specifically asked about a 1986 silver eagle that was marked at $60. I was informed that just because it said $60 does not mean that is the price and the worker would have to go ask the owner what the price was. WHY PUT A PRICE ON SOMETHING THEN? I understand spot price of bullion fluctuates, maybe don't put prices on things then. The owner said she would sell it at $60 like it was marked. I declined but did comment that was a good price. Then I asked how much a 2025 silver eagle was. The worker again had to go ask the owner. When he came back he said $72. The spot price of silver today is $58.40/ounce. So they are selling 2025 silver eagles for spot + $13.60!!!!. This is beyond ridiculous. I asked why it was so high and the worker said well they aren't making 2025 silver eagles anymore. DUH they also aren't making 1986 silver eagles anymore but that one was spot + 1.60. You can easily go to an online bullion retailer like Monument Metals and pay about $10 less than this place wants. I really doubt this place sells much bullion

The whole time they are rushing around because Wendy wanted to close early at 3:00 p m. (It was currently 2:45 p m.). Wendy comes near me and tells me to take out my collection of currency and old coins, and set them all up on the counter. When she comes back over, she takes two to three seconds and tells me my .9999 gold coins are fake and she don't want them (in a very rude way). She didn't even look closely or even weight them. My collection was being stored in a small closet cupboard, and she sees one small bug which she immediately kills, then tells me she doesn't want any of it, and says she now has to call an exterminator. She literally starts picking up all my coins and starts to throw them back into my storage safe. If she didn't have time to look at my large collection properly she should never have told me to set them on the counter. I, also, fell over picking up my stuff off the floor. One customer came over to assist me as I was completely ignored by all employees. I could have been seriously injured as I lost my balance and fell over into the customer who was assisting me. None of them cared for either myself or the customer I fell in. If your are disabled, do not enter this "unsafe" shop. They also have two "dangerous" dogs who have bitten other customers. They need to leave these dogs at home for the safety of the customers. Animal Control should fine these dog owners and take away their dangerous dogs.

You can tell the small group of employees are a tight-knit group that really do always try to put their best foot forward. I've looked through the items this auction house offers multiple times and I'm always really impressed with their array. They have everything from furniture to home décor to tools to lawn equipment to gardening supplies to toys and games and collectables. Literally everything. Whether you love antiques, resell items, or want something new for your home at a ridiculously affordable price; this is the place to get it. They hold auctions weekly and are always very professional in the way they handle everything. Everything is clearly and neatly displayed and pictures are even posted on their Facebook group so you can get an idea of everything they are offering and decide if there are items you'd like to bid on up for grabs. Most auction houses now-a-days are still a bit 'old school' so I REALLY appreciate the fact that they advertise a lot of their items online so I can get a fair idea of what they are offering before I make the trip to Clinton. I haven't seen any other auction house that also posts great high-quality photos of their items online. I've discussed with Justine about her selling my items, and she's been very honest with me about the way she does business and has offered me her services in a fair manner. Compared to other auction houses I've spoken with, McGinty Auctions definitely has the friendliest reps and they're always willing to go above and beyond the call of duty in ensuring all of my questions are answered, and my concerns are addressed. Every time I call they pick up their phone and they're more than happy to talk me through everything. Whether you're looking to sell a lot of your old things, or you want to bid on some new things- this auction house is by far the best in the Illinois / Iowa area. I've been to a few different auction houses and this one always stands out as the one that offers the best service, the most diverse array of items, and the best prices. They have A LOT of furniture that can be upcycled for a profit- and also a ton of great items to sell on eBay. Totally worth visiting when you have some spare change to spend. There's always a treasure to be found here!
