Keep to the side of the trail and try to keep your eye out for bicycles as there is definite debate as to who has the right of way (Hint: it's the pedestrians but when your handlebar hits someone and you dump into the road, it's too late.) Playgrounds, picnic tables under a huge picnic pavilion, a basketball court and a disk golf course round out the other goings on here. Oh, and a dog park. For a very reasonable price, our cabin was clean, and the bed was comfortable. It was our first time to visit, and the grounds were beautifully manicured and clean. It would have been the perfect respite if our stay hadn't been spoiled by park staff the next morning. EARLY. We had stayed up late, socializing with friends, and planned to sleep in. But around 6 am, we were jolted awake by park workers in the adjoining unit, apparently doing maintenance. VERY LOUD. After waking up to a heart-stopping crash of some kind, we heard what sounded like drilling, construction, repair. Our car was in the driveway, so it was obvious our unit was occupied. Their project was completed in about 30 minutes, but there was no going back to sleep at that point. Disappointing.

There are really two parts to this park. It's a COE, Corp of Engineer, park and we've been to many…read moreof those. Some are gated and some are not. This one is not. It sits at the base of the dam and has a campground section and a day use section. This review is mainly for the campground section. It's a pretty park but when we first arrived we weren't sure what to make of it. Grass looked like it hadn't been mowed in quite a while but it was mowed while we were there which really improved the appearance. The inner circle of campsites all have full hookups and the outer circle has water and electricity. We were pretty surprised to see so many who "live" within the system. One camper told us folks go between this park and another park every 14 days. A school bus even comes to take the kids who "live" here to school. Our first night we were on the outside loop and next to one group who played the bass music. Ugh. Where was the host? We had no clue. Yes, there is a camp host or volunteer. In the 5 days we were there we saw him once. A couple of times we went looking for him and never could find him. His site needs to be cleaned up. Stuff is stacked all over. We've never seen that in a COE park either. It was a good place to stay though while weather passed over and would stay again. The park area is nice but think a little more oversight is needed and a little clean-up. I would probably rate the park itself a 4 star but the clutter from the host site and lack of his availability, I moved it down a notch.

Their musician selections are impressive that includes local acts, which is a plus because there's so much talent Tulsa (& surrounding cities) have to offer. As stated before, food trucks is something I always look forward to, especially while working in the area during lunchtime. Guthire Green hosts a Food Truck Wednesday that takes place from 11am - 1/2pm (it's seasonal). The food trucks usually have different rotations. Selections from tacos to lemonades to Greek food. Mayfest, Hip Hop 918, (part of) Tulsa Tough... Guthrie Green is included in a lot of events Downtown with it being in the middle of Downtown Tulsa. There are restaurants well within walking distance, art galleries as well. The baseball field is maybe 5 mins away. Can't forget First Friday!! Be sure to stay up to date with events listed on their website. They do a good job posting about events on social media as well.

The scenery is great and the park history is interesting dating back to FDR's New Deal of the 1930's. Tip: be prepared (drinks, snacks, towels, fishing poles, bait, and whatever else you need for your little adventure- a first aid kit is not a bad idea either). I wish I had spent more time here exploring, so stop at the park office first for interesting maps and literature.

We were afraid that it would be too crowded, but there were still several spots with sufficient privacy. There are scores of campgrounds (some of them right on the waterfront), lots of RV hook-ups, a playground for kids, and boating and swimming access to the lake. Although hiking is somewhat limited (there are just a few miles of trails), the scenery is beautiful, and the sunset on the water was idyllic. Very convenient as a getaway if you live in the Tulsa area; I'm sure we'll camp here again!

They will not refund your money even if you follow their policy. We had to pay $679.67 in advance to reserve a couple of RV lots in July. We had to cancel 19 days in advance because of a family concern. We should have been refunded according to their policy, but am still getting nowhere six weeks later. They are scammers!

The manager is a really nice man, he is older, but will do anything he can to help you. There are a few people that stay here full time. A big complaint is the laundry/shower house, it really needs a face lift and some TLC that place is not inviting to shower in at all. In the laundry/shower house there are 2 washers, 2 dryers, 1 men's restroom with shower and 1 women's restroom with shower. I also wish there were more lighting around here at night. This campground is really jammed packed, you won't have a yard and not much room to park in your spot, luckily I drive a small car. The road right next to the campground is a route that emergency vehicles take every day/night, so you will hear sirens often. There are no bells and whistles to this place but we like the location and the price.

You can walk from rock to rock out to some picturesque areas around the water. The trail is pretty easy to navigate except for a few slick rocks here and there. There is an overlook we drove up to but it was just an okay view due to some tall trees blocking much of the view. Camping areas look well kept and the ranger we spoke with was very nice and helpful. I would definitely recommend this to out of town visitors like myself to get out and enjoy nature and the beautiful landscape of NE Oklahoma.

First, there are some rocky canyon-type cliffs the hand Sand Creek winding through them. It's really pretty and there are some waterfalls and big rocks to wade onto in the middle of a creek that gets really wide in some parts. Seconds, there is sand all around (hence the name Sand Creek), enough in some spots to feel like you're sand bathing at a beach... no joke! Wish I snapped better pictures of the sandy parts. It was a fun experience!

Most notably, the winds of a soccer ball, frisbee, baseball or football can go sweeping down the plains of this park. The space of the field is great and the upkeep is always maintained. There are soccer goals and restrooms at the south end. I think the parking lot belongs to the old Mapco Building, but I have never had trouble parking there. There is a time capsule area on the northwest side of the park. There is a playground wih things for toddlers to 1-2 grade. Good park for flying kites and balsa wood airplanes. There is Clayton Coss chainsaw art on a tree on the west side. They have events here, this is where the traveling Vietnam Memorial was for a couple days.
