TRSA is one of my favorite nonprofits. They focus on increasing access to science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) by connecting educators, industries, and providers. Their vision is that STEM is everywhere and all kids should have access to learning opportunities, mentoring, competitions, and career exploration.
Their office is located on the second floor of the Tandy YMCA. It is a wonderful resource for educators, offering kits, equipment and supplies for lending through their STEM Shoppe. They also distribute thousands of STEM in a bag kits. You don't have to be a science expert to use them. Instructions are provided in a very clear and easy way to follow so it can be an accessible and engaging activity.
Each quarter, they host community gatherings called STEM in Motion. These are open to anyone who wants to join the network and share ideas. Each September, they celebrate "STEMtember" by showcasing community events and initiatives. In October, they host Space Week, a free week of field trips, teacher workshops, and family events across Tulsa and Stillwater.
There are many ways to get involved and support. One of them is by attending their annual fundraiser, Flight Night, held at Tulsa Tech's riverside airport. It features air and drone shows and celebrates STEM educators across Oklahoma. read more
