I regret hiring this firm and strongly advise others to seek more experienced representation. This…read morefirm came highly recommended, which makes the experience all the more disappointing. I was referred to a seasoned attorney, but instead, my case - against a Fortune 500 company! - was handed off to a far less experienced attorney, who also happened to be the daughter of one of the firm's partners. Whether it was just a poor staffing choice or good old-fashioned nepotism, the mismatch was glaring in hindsight. She came off as confident, even cut me off mid-consultation to insist we move forward together and told me how strong my case was. But after that, things drastically shifted. Whether it was intimidation or inexperience, she kept pressuring me to settle for far less than what my case was worth. I chose to trust my own instincts instead, and secured a settlement that was more than double what she advised. Despite that, I was still charged the full percentage in fees, as if her misdirection had earned it. If your case actually matters, find someone with real experience and the backbone to match.

This is a family business, run by Attorney Caitlin Haney Johnston, and her sister Amber, with the rest of the team. I learned after residing in Texas for the last five years, that my will and trust from California were invalid in Texas. That was an unpleasant awareness, as it took quite a bit of time to prepare those documents. My job offered "MetLife-Prepaid Legal" as an annual benefit. MetLife even offered an affordable family plan. So we made the call, discussed our needs and shortly thereafter, we were reviewing the draft documents and signing our finals. We needed a Spanish translation for one of our family members. No problem, as their Paralegal Celeste speaks Spanish fluently. The office visit was amazing. They were so patient and understanding with all our questions. Not once did I feel rushed. It was like talking to a family member that knew the law. Over all it was a great experience, and a weight off my shoulders. I can't praise them enough how they helped me breathe easier knowing that this matter was done. Thank you Caitlin, Amber and Celeste for your professional help with this matter. We truly appreciate y'all. Michael C. - Georgetown

After interviewing several Austin Estate Attorneys we chose the Haney Law Firm and WE COULD NOT BE HAPPIER!!! They are fantastic! During the lead up to our hearing, they were in constant communication with us, made sure we knew exactly what to expect and helped us gather all of the information both they, the Ad Litem (Court appointed attorney) and the judge needed. Flash forward... I can NOT believe how supremely prepared Caitlan Haney Johnston (our attorney) was for the Probate Hearing. Both the witnesses and I were thoroughly prepped for the testimony we would be expected to give and, by the time we walked into the courtroom, we were all completely comfortable with what to expect. The hearing went exactly as we were told it would by Caitlan and she stayed with us to make sure all of the post hearing paperwork was filled out correctly including the stamped copies of the judge's orders. The next day I received both calls and emails from Amber (the amazing paralegal) and Caitlan making sure we knew exactly what the court expects of us and the time lines. I could not have asked for more!!! The Haney Law Firm is the absolute "Best of the Best!!!"

My initial intake was with Austin Kaplan, who was exceptionally knowledgeable about the law but, just as importantly, provided clear, real-world insight into what I should realistically expect. He was direct, fair, and accurate in managing expectations, which helped me make informed decisions without feeling misled or overpromised at any point. Andrew Eckhaus and Madeline were both excellent to work with. They were responsive, thoughtful, and thorough, and I always felt that my questions and concerns were taken seriously. Their guidance was practical, well reasoned, and grounded in a strong understanding of the law. I also appreciated how easy it was to schedule meetings using their online system--it was efficient and respectful of my time. The firm's compensation structure felt transparent and fair, and I never felt pressured or price-gouged. Overall, I felt treated fairly and professionally from start to finish. The Kaplan Group demonstrated strong legal expertise, sound judgment, and a clear focus on serving their clients' best interests. I would recommend them to anyone looking for experienced and principled legal representation.

The US remains one of the least employee-friendly free countries in the world so looking out for your own interests can seem daunting and lonely. That's why you need the right help. Too many attorneys are happy to string you along - provided you pay the appropriate retainer of course - and not tell you the reality about a proposed action you're considering. Ms Ward gives it to you clearly - as much as anyone can prior to litigation. When I seek counsel I look for experience, intelligence and empathy. Someone who sees the bigger picture, lays out options to consider and clearly articulates risks and likelihoods without a lot of emotional fear-stoking. That's why I'm happy I found her. My comments are with respect to Riley Alcozer, who initially represented me in response to a…read morehostile beneficiary of three family trusts for which I served as trustee. In summary, Riley was unresponsive to opposing counsel's information requests leading up to a key response deadline, she had little or no communication with me in that period, she missed the deadline, and in doing so disclosed my personal information to opposing counsel. Upon missing the deadline, Riley verbally admitted to me that she had a lot on her plate leading up to it. In my opinion, this should have been disclosed to me well before the deadline so I could have sought alternatives. I also believe the disclosure to opposing counsel that I was "out of town" was highly inappropriate, confidential, and irrelevant. In my opinion, rather than taking full ownership of missing the deadline, Riley deflected responsibility to me, prioritizing her own interests over mine. I further believe this signaled to opposing counsel that I did not take the matter seriously. Though I was out of state for a few weeks leading up to the deadline, I was easily accessible. After the missed deadline, I was placed in fire-drill mode to deliver a significant volume of the trusts' financial statements by week's end. I believe the approximately 60-day period Riley had to respond was squandered. For these reasons, I relieved Riley of her role as my litigator and retained new counsel. Riley and her legal team remained responsible for subsequent accountings for the three trusts. Though I had concerns about attorneys handling accountings, I was assured by the firm that this was common practice. In my opinion, there was no upfront due diligence by Riley and her staff regarding the complexity and volume of financial statements involved. The accountings required a significant amount of time and expense. The accounting for one of the trusts was deficient. Though I had delivered that trust's bank statements to the firm two and a half months before a court-imposed deadline, these documents were never incorporated into the accounting -- and Riley and her team never caught this critical error. This incomplete accounting was submitted to the opposing side and the court. I was the one who discovered the omission. Bank statements are a foundational document in any trust accounting, as they verify all transactions and cash flows. The submission of this deficient accounting was subsequently used against me in future court filings. That trust's accounting was later withdrawn by my other counsel and completed efficiently, with minimal input required from me. As the son of a revered Texas attorney, I was raised with high standards for legal work. My father once told me that one factor he considered when hiring an attorney was whether the candidate's shoes were shined. When I asked why, he said: "attention to the details." In my opinion, Riley fell well short of those standards in handling my father's financial legacy.
