I really like this place Everyone is cool no one is rude…read more The prices are on point. I love the fact that the music acts walk up those steps onto the small stage, they are like right there infront of you. Not behind some barricade and the stage is not so high up. It's the perfect venue/bar. A lot of room for dancing, skanking or moshing it up. They also have stools, tables and some couches to sit down. Get there early tho. My friends really liked this bar, and the karaoke was a lot of fun. A couple years ago, you could…read moreget there around 9, put your name on the list, and usually sing before the midnight list came out. Now you definitely have to get there early, which is understandable. The reason I'm giving this one star is because of the bouncer. There's a sign saying no leaving and reentry and that bags are subject to checks. I've been here multiple times and have never actually had my bag checked. My friend wanted to go to her car to get a pain reliever, and she and I were going to step outside because the bouncer has let her leave and come back in before. When we asked, he said he would let her go out and come back in, but he wouldn't let me go with her. I explained that I wanted to go because, in my opinion, this is not an area where I feel comfortable with two women walking outside alone late at night. His response was, "It's perfectly safe." I understand that he may have a different opinion, but sitting inside the gated entrance, he's not the one who would be walking to the car with us. Later, when a male friend from our group tried to go outside with her instead, the bouncer made him read the no-reentry sign multiple times. At that point, we all decided to leave. What bothered me most was the inconsistency. If the rules on the sign are going to be strictly enforced, then they should be consistently enforced--including the bag checks that are listed on the same sign. And if exceptions are going to be made, they should be applied consistently rather than depending on who is asking. I came here expecting to have a fun karaoke night, and unfortunately the way this was handled left such a bad taste in my mouth that we won't be coming back. If you're looking for a karaoke spot in Long Beach, just be aware that this was my experience with the security at this particular bar.

Harvelle's is located in downtown Long Beach. The space is small but fun. Unfortunately as other…read morereviews mention, the air conditioning is almost nonexistent. We got a table which required a 2 drink minimum which I didn't mind. The drink menu had in cocktails. We went to see a Rocky Horror Show tribute and it was so much fun. The actors were so funny and the audience interacted which made it feel intimate. Will definitely go back.

I visited Harvelle's Long Beach on October 25th for the 10:30 PM show, and unfortunately, my first…read moreexperience was off to a terrible start because of the security guard working the front door that evening. While the line was forming outside, I politely approached the security guard at the front door and said, "Excuse me," because I wanted to ask him a question. As someone who had never been to this venue before, I was simply looking for some guidance. Instead of answering, he immediately responded with an attitude, asking why I was yelling at him. Mind you, I had not raised my voice whatsoever and was speaking to him politely and respectfully. I also want to make it clear that I was not intoxicated. So there was absolutely no reason for him to assume I was being disruptive or speaking to him inappropriately. He then proceeded to tell me to "get out of his face" unless I knew a way to make him a millionaire. What made the interaction even more uncomfortable was that he got extremely close to my face while speaking to me, showing no consideration for my personal space. I was honestly shocked by how unnecessarily rude, dismissive, and unprofessional he was, especially considering I had done nothing more than politely ask a question. On a positive note, the performers were wonderful, and our waitress was incredibly kind and welcoming. It's unfortunate that the security guard's behavior created such a negative first impression of an otherwise enjoyable venue. I completely understand that security has an important job to do, especially when managing a line and welcoming guests, but basic respect, professionalism, and consideration for personal space should be the bare minimum. No paying customer should be made to feel uncomfortable or disrespected simply for asking a question. I genuinely hope management addresses this behavior because the performers and other staff deserve better representation at the front door. First impressions matter, and unfortunately, this interaction left a lasting negative impression on what should have been a fun night out.
