Our family enjoyed motoring around the historic districts, Rattlesnake Bridge and University (dodging students hurrying to class), on the "Shake, Rattle and Roll" tour. We learned lots of interesting facts about Tucson, and even though we love walking, we had to admit we covered a lot more territory this way and were able to save our energy for an afternoon hike in the canyons. At $70 per person for a 2+ hour tour, it's worth it. Kids must be at least 16.

We did the "Shake, Rattle & Roll" tour where they take you on a tour through the historic 4th avenue district, the iron horse district, the rattlesnake bridge, the pie allen district and the west university district, all on a segway! This is a family owned business and our tour guide, Denise, was very nice! She gave a short instruction on how to operate the segway and explained some do's and don'ts to us. She was also very accommodating with our schedule. You also get a shake at the end of the tour, but since I'm lactose intolerant, they gave us ice cream instead (i can't drink milk but i can eat ice cream and cheese...weird, i know)! =)

They focus on luxury vehicles, mini vehicles, and vehicles featured in movies or TV shows. A highlight was seeing the Batmobile from the 1966 TV shows that I grew up watching. You can even "adopt" a vehicle for 1 year by giving a tax deductible donation to the museum. They also have a special events room that you can rent for an event. I highly recommend checking this place out!

This is always a solid county fair…read more Parking is $8 and there is plenty. Once inside the fair there are numerous vendors with food, drinks, and all kinds of merchandise. The weather is usually really good. The fair has three main buildings. Thurber Hall which is loaded with commercial vendors - clothing, candy, pop culture items, Tupperware, gadgets, etc. Always some good deals in there. Pima Hall has more vendors and some entertainment acts as well. This year they had Brad's World of Reptiles with multiple animal displays and Nancy Riegler's Bird Show at the other end. The name of the third building escapes me, but it is where they show off art from locals and schools in the area. They also have 4-H displays, a giant model train display, many active art displays with rocks, model ships, yarn, etc. Great rides and games every year from RCS. Pony rides, camel rides, and a petting zoo. Fun foods with new ones each year. Really good concerts - free with admission. Definitely worth making the trip from Mesa each year. If you are nearby - make the trip.

I love that cars, tractor rides or horse carriages don't drive through anymore making it a fully walkable experience. The only transit onsite is Arizona Party Bike which is electric. So it's just great to feel safe walking through. There's a ton of porta-potty's throughout, a food vendor area and a huge food bank tent to collect donations. It's definitely not the "home-made" festival it was once but i appreciate that it's well maintained. Parking is not allowed in the neighborhood which protects the residents and I think that make sense. We paid $10 to park across the street.

Not bad for the first year of a convention…read more Holding an Old West steampunk con (YES! YES! YES! This has NOT been explored enough) at Old Tucson Studios was genius. It was insanely fun walking around a dusty, ghost town set-up full of people dressed as cowboys and folk from the Victorian era. Some of which were outfitted, head to toe, in steampunk wear. Walking around in this authentic-looking area in costume was more sensory-intensive than a Renaissance faire. For one thing, you're already in what was the Old West, and another, Old Tucson Studios was still playing their normal entertainment, including stunt shows. You could be idling around in your top hat and brass goggles and some guy could come flying off a building, while "Billy the Kid" starts shooting at him. We took a gamble making the trek for this out-of-state (for us), first-time con, and really I've got no regrets. It's fun getting to tell people you've been electrocuted by a lycanthropic shock prod. Looking forward to next year.

There was plenty to keep them engaged, and they never seemed to run out of things to do. My 3-year-old especially loved the outdoor bubble station. I still need to find out what bubble formula they use because those bubbles were HUGE and so much fun! The admission price is also fantastic at just $12 per person, and I really appreciate that military families can get one child admitted free. Another thing I loved is that your admission ticket is valid for the entire day. We were able to take a break for lunch and then come back to enjoy the museum even more without rushing through everything. With affordable admission, a family-friendly atmosphere, and hands-on exhibits, this is an easy recommendation for anyone with young kids. We left with two happy, tired little ones and can't wait to visit again!

I have a four and a one year old and there are so many things for them to do. So many different rooms to explore: there's the transportation/public service area, with a car, a police motorcycle, and ambulance; there's the desert section all about our special Sonoran desert; there's a train room, a grocery store and kitchen, a vet area, a whole science based room, an art room, and a room exclusively for kids 5 and under. Plus there's a whole outdoor section with bubbles, a digging area, a music garden, and a small playground structure. I'm probably forgetting some things too--there's just so much! Not to mention an excellent gift shop. Each time we come we rarely do the same thing, since there is so much to explore! Truly a gem for our community! Thank you Children's Museum Tucson--we will be back again and again! My only wish--as a tired parent--is that there was a coffee shop on premises! I'm sure I'm not the only one wanting that :)
