My hair is gray; so I have it colored and hilighted. Since I am in the area for an extended time I…read moredecided to try Blue Salon, based on a recommendation. Very disappointed. I explained clearly that I wanted my new growth (gray) blended in, in a way that would look natural -- nothing too dramatic -- no chunky hi-lights. I even referred to the person's hair color who made the recommendation, and made sure I booked the appointment with the same colorist, so she would have the idea. I told her that normally I get low lights and hi-lights. She said she was only going to hi-light my grays and that if that did not cover enough she could go back in. That should have been a red flag right then and there. But with the foils already in the works I felt I was at her mercy to get it right somehow. Mid-way through the coloring she explained that sometimes the white hair ends up turning violet with this product. WHAT?!! She actually said this. So this made me very anxious, but I kept my cool. After she rinsed it however, I looked in the mirror and the part going down the side was as white as ever, making me look like I was going bald. NO GOOD! Then she decided to touch it up. By now I figure she was tired, even though I was her first appointment of the day (and the only customer the entire 4 hours it took her to work on my hair). She ended up painting the touch up with broad strokes -- nothing creative, nothing subtle -- so it ended up looking like matte color without any definition. I have done better with emergency package treatments, myself. She claimed she was giving me a complimentary conditioning treatment, presumably for her mistake. Well of course, 2 days later and my hair is duller than dirty dishwater. Another red flag -- she kept talking about how much better the south was -- how much friendlier it was, and how New Yorkers are "grumpy" and she does not like the area. NO WONDER THEY ARE GRUMPY! She also gave herself away when she said that 5th graders in Alabama are given Spelling tests with words consisting of 5 or 6 letters, and explained how hard it was when she moved here because the words were so much bigger. Could this explain a struggle to learn the chemical terms at cosmetology school? I assume she received her hair coloring certification, but surely something is/was missing. The salon's advertising claims it sells experience, not service -- PLEASE! Be clear-- not necessarily good experiences either, right? I guess I was so anxious and happy to get out of there finally, that I paid and tipped. By the time I got home however, I determined that I really regretted my "experience". $145 + a tip (I was still in shock I suppose and not clearly thinking) and 4 hours later for one of the worst hair "experiences" in my life. I hope the owners of this salon are reading. Interestingly, she told me their names even though I did not ask -- ahh, the simpllicity of it all. If they are reading they should send me a refund. Seriously, that would demonstrate that they SINCERELY care about their customers' "experience".

I'm SO glad I listened to everyone because it turned out to be a great experience. My hair stylist and make-up artist, Jacqueline, was WONDERFUL! She knew what each of us wanted and made sure that we were happy. Jacqueline was up-to-date on latest trends and got to know my personality - she nailed my sense of style and comfort level. All the girls at the salon were sweet and made sure my entire bridal shower was comfortable. I highly recommend getting Jacqueline for any of your beauty needs!

Anyway, I scheduled an appt. with them. A few days later, they called to cancel the appt. and ask me to reschedule. I have called them THREE TIMES in the past week and left messages with a voice mail messaging system. Today I tried again, and I got the message that their inbox is full. What is going on?! Is this place closing? The message said that they may not be able to get back to me for "several days," however long that is. Now I am afraid I am going to run out of time to use my certificate before it expires (6 months from the time of purchase). I have a feeling I will be finding a new place to get a massage! I'm not happy now.
