Booking the session was impossible and the communication with the therapist who cancelled me just prior to the appointment was not helpful. She offered no other alternatives and was unjustified in her last minute cancel. Time to get organized and get some more help- good luck. Hidden gem in South Utica! I moved here from Washington DC, and I have to say that the service here is actually comparable to the level of service one would receive in a big metropolitan area. Literally, I was a regular there..I have got massages (with and without stones), facials (lemon drop smells yummy), body wraps (for dress/cuteness emergencies), waxes (enough said) and body scrubs (by far my favorite treatment overall-hot stone crush!!). The Staff is accommodating with scheduling as well. My only complaint is that I can't take lava spa with me now that I'm moving out of the area. I even did a birthday spa day there, and the owner, Curry, went above and beyond to make that day special for me. Give them try!!! read more

Me, my mother and our friend Amy came with us to get a pedicure, massage and facial. The best part about this place is the intimacy - you stay only with the party you came with and you don't even have to know there is anyone else there!! The sauna was fantastic - a great way to get ready for the services to come. The customer service was great. Best facial I've ever had by far! The massage was awesome and relaxing, and she really got to some areas that needed some kneading out. The pedicure would be the only thing that was just OK - my recommendation is get the more expensive things done like body scrubs and facials and massages - skip the little stuff. After only one day of posting what I felt was an honest review I was absolutely amazed that the owner herself called to apologize and offer the same service at no cost to make up for my less than perfect experience. I have been to lava spa in the past for a couples massage and personal massage and had very enjoyable experiences. This one time was just so different . It left me feeling so let down and unsatisfied. But then I got this phone call . It was so heartfelt. I was given a possible explanation, apology and offer of restitution . All were above and beyond what I would have expected. This is how every business should conduct themselves . Pride in what they do and total attention to the clients they are providing services for. I tried to refuse the free service because the call was more than enough for me.
