JUST WOW! AWESOME! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU VANDERHOOF ROOFING COMPANY FOR EXEMPLARY WORK!…read more After a 6 year wait to 'get to the roof'... (Oye vay, our house had needed a lot of work, so we did the inside, and landscaping first.. while the roof waited patiently) This month we FINALLY scheduled to have our - very old, badly maintained, bondoed.. duct taped.. (from WAY back) ..mess of a flat roof ... TOTALLY FIXED! We interviewed 3 companies and went with VANDERHOOF. It turned out to be one of the best decisions we have made since moving to the area. Vanderhoof came in with a swat team of capable roofers, and worked like a band of Army Engineers. They tore off DECADES of badly done roof work, layer after layer after layer. (What a mess of construction debris!) At the end of every work day, they left our yard immaculate. Then they built, and built, and restructured, and redesigned. (Flat roofs need expert attention). The work took a bit longer than they estimated due to the amazing number of layers to be removed, and their painstaking rebuilding process - but the Syracuse weather cooperated *(!!) and the work finished yesterday and it looks fantastic! (Photo shows NEW SPECTACULAR FLAT ROOF! Later I'll dig out the original roof.. it looked like a moonscape of bulbous waves and misguided historic attempts to mesh a labyrinth of disconnected ill selected materials. (We inherited it in 2016. ) I can't recommend Vanderhoof highly enough.

They installed an entirely new roof…read moreon our home, and we couldn't be happier with thefinished product as well as the overall experience. We also received a very competitive quote, which we thought was great considering the quality of materials used. Another company, who I won't name was a little less expensive but they were not using the same quality materials. Patrick McNerny, was our project manager. He was great to work with. He was incredibly responsive whenever we had a question and he ensured the roof was finished up to standard. Overall, this was a great experience and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them, especially Patrick and Joe.

Could have been A LOT better. First off, after 4 separate inspections, including with a foreman…read moreand engineer, they grossly mis-estimated the project and after quoting me a whopping $158,000 to do my roof (admittedly with repairs) with a contract that I agreed to and signed, they got deeply into the project with the roof ripped off and THEN came to me and said it is going to be more or we have to scale the project back (basically refusing to finish the contracted project for that amount with a half destroyed roof at that point), and I graciously agreed to amend the contract and shrink the project. HOWEVER they didn't really even complete the project as described and left a mess that I then have been cleaning up every since (over the past 5 months), and made a HUGE mess of my pool! We then had an unforeseen delay in getting them the final $18K (after delivering $140,000 to them as a cash transfer!), and they threatened to come start taking pieces OFF my roof. AND when I did finally get the final funds transferred to them, it was $3500 MORE than the $18K and they have refused to return it to me thus far, almost 3 months after the payment was received. I am starting legal action as a result and will file with the BBB.

They never showed up. Gave me the excuse it was a weather specific job, plus they weren't in my area. Well the whole month? I think it's because my driveway wasn't a huge paying job and they picked and chose the higher jobs. If you want to wait to whenever they decide to be "in your area" use them. Today is July 10th still no notification as to when to expect them. I canceled their service.

BUYER BEWARE Less…read morethan a week after I had gutters installed by Iron Horse of Syracuse in January 2021, leakage problems had to be fixed at two separate sections. Again this year, in the exact same two spots, the same problem: the leakage resumed. Last year one of the owners (Ben) first insisted that it was a roofing problem, but when the other owner (Eric) came with him after I pressed the issue, one section was replaced. The other section was sealed. The moral of the story? Despite the same problems, in the same two sections, video, audio, still pics and all ... again, the co-owner (Ben) blames the roof--even when two separate Syracuse roofing company assessments say otherwise. My guess is that he's likely telling the same line to other customers, which is why I'm posting this review. Videos and pictures, thankfully, clearly show what I consider to be the shoddy work of this company. Specifically and importantly, they show the roof edge is intact along the entire edge. More to the point, they show the huge gap between the soffit and the gutter that was installed in January 2021 by Iron Horse. Pictures do not lie. My conversation with the same co-owner today (Ben) made abundantly clear that he could care less. Initially he offered a refund when he thought I was buying his roofing story, until I called his bluff and said 'yes.' Then, his story changed. Again. If you can avoid this company, please do. You will almost surely save yourself a headache that's hardly worth their lower pricing and quick (shoddy) work. I'll post an update once I get these sections replaced by another gutter company that doesn't operate 'in the gutter.' I'm guessing that a lot of the 5-star reviews from "customers" that have posted only 1 review are likely fake. That should tell you all that you need to know. Or, maybe it's just that every customer won't get the same 5-star service as the other "customers" here.
