Wow. We showed up closer to closing and they were so welcoming and helpful. They didn't mind. First and foremost, I appreciated their service. So kind, patient, and helpful. Decided to give Tu-Tu's a spin for a quick bite. This is going to be a short review but I will try to cover the main points. Pros: Big portion size for the price. My wife and I shared the combo plate and had more than enough for both of us. At $15, this is a good "cheap eats" deal. I liked the mac salad and the cole slaw with pineapple in it. The teriyaki chicken and kalua pork were decent, although I kinda felt the pork could have had more flavor. They give extra teriyaki sauce, but I kinda wanted some siriracha sauce to "kick it up" a notch. Maybe they can offer it (if they don't already). They offer Kim-chee as an optional add-on. Too bad I didn't see this until after I had my food. Will have to try orderring some next time seeing as how I'm Korean. Friendly service. There were two ladies working, and they were as friendly as can be. :) Cons: Menu was a little bit limited, but seeing as how this is a food truck/cart, that's understandable. Other notes: The rice tasted even better to me after a night in my refrigerator (soaking in some teriyaki sauce) and then microwaved. Go figure. lol. Summary: A decent option for cheap eats in Ocean Park where choices are a bit limited. I will have to try some of the other menu items. read more

Well, recent visit shows they switched to earth friendly paper containers from styro - awesome! As promised, bonus GREEN star! Good as it gets, woo hoo. Original review follows. ======== Like many sole proprietor restaurants on the peninsula, the days of operation vary with the season or events (clam digs, winter, etc). For me if I see their pickup truck on the Pacific Highway with the big red TUTUS LUNCH WAGON parked there, they're open, its time for Hawaiian BBQ. Kinda like 'hawaiian time' in Hawaii! Portions on the 'medium side' - big enough for a lunch. Very tasty kalua pork, mac salad, teriyaki chicken....thats all i've tried and I think its spot on. About $9/plate, and I always throw in the extra buck for a tip. Super friendly and pretty quick too. I'd give them 5 stars if they didnt use styrofoam containers for everything - lets go GREEN TuTu and get 5 stars! :) Eco-friendly containers are not that much more expensive. Mahalo! read more

Stopped by for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. Got chicken dishes and found them to be really tasty. Hubby liked the pineapple in the stir fry and really liked it in the slaw. Mac salad was yummy as well. Portion size was large. Can't wait to try more from this place! read more

So we thought we'd give them another try. It's the second week of September after all--they must have figured out their hours right? Well, just to be sure I called before making the drive from Seaview. The message proudly exclaims "We are open. Normal hours 10-2:30, Monday through Friday." So we should be good...due diligence done. As we drive up at 12:45 we pass two sandwich boards--the last of which says "open." Imagine my surprise when we see that the cart is closed with a paper sign that says they are closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. Holy fuck! It felt like the owner was pointing a finger at us yelling "we got you again, SUCKER!!!" All I can say is the food must be fucking spectacular for this place to still be open (whenever the hell they actually are) because this place has no right to be in business with owners this stupid. read more

Just finished building our vacation home in Ocean Park. During construction, Tu-Tu's has been a frequent lunch break destination. Friendly folks, massive portions, delicious pork. Stop by for a taste of the islands, reminds me of North Shore trucks. Though we have a kitchen now--and a house all around it--we'll continue to support Tu-Tu's often. Mahalo. read more

Came on Monday for a lunch break; a girl working at the local grocery store recommended it. I ordered the Kahlua Pork with a side of coleslaw ($9). Pork was juicy and tasty; I added a little more sauce, and just a touch of hot sauce. Good ratio of meat to rice. Although I liked the flavor of the coleslaw and the fact that it wasn't cream-based dressing, it was a little watery and limp; probably time to make a fresh batch. Friendly owner. read more

Maybe it's because all the 5 star reviews set my expectations too high, but I don't think the food was that great. The pork was okay, not very flavorful which is better than over smoked I suppose. The teriyaki chicken was the best part by far. The macaroni salad was bland and noodles mushy. I didn't care for the rice. It appears to be instant rice cooked in chicken broth. The teriyaki sauce is watered down and lacks flavor. The coleslaw was thickly cut cabbage, grated carrots, pineapple and probably pineapple juice mixed with sugar. It was just sweet and flavorless. The best part was the experience ordering. The ladies were so friendly! Great service and eh food isn't enough to make us go back. read more

After not being able to go to Hawaii this year, I was thrilled to find this place offering a plate lunch. The Kalua pork combo with the meatballs was perfect. The pineapple slaw was nice and light and the perfect compliment. I will be stopping in every time we are in the area. read more

Best Hawaiian food since Hawaii vacation several years ago. It's all here, Moco Loco, Kalua Pork, etc. We had those two for our first visit and can't wait to go back. The folks are honest, fine people who steer you right - telling me my lunch was going to be large and I had better be hungry! I was! It was FANTASTIC! Hubby's moco loco gravy was deep, dark and rich, with the required fried egg and hamburger patty over a lovely rice, perfectly cooked. My Big Kahuna plate had Teriyaki chicken (thighs, oh yes!) grilled to perfection, and a huge pile of Kalua Pork - all meat with just a hint of good fat like it should have! We are spreading the word because this place has just GOT to stay in biz. While we were there, a couple of regulars came up and we all commenced talking about how delish the food is. There is a vacant lot across the street, and the owner was saying someone should buy it and we could have a few more food trucks in there and all would benefit. Hint hint! The food was so good I had to call Aileen, the cook, and tell her so. She was delighted we loved her food! We'll be back soon! read more

I have eaten Ailene's teriyaki chicken when she had the little walk-in restaurant and it's just as good from the lunch wagon. Sweet and spicy with macaroni salad and rice plus extra sauce on the side. But I had never tried her Kalua pork till this weekend. An order of sliders (2) plus the sides was one of the best lunches I have ever purchased. Indoors or out. Beautiful soft, smoky, salty pulled pork on nice soft buns plus sides. Ohmahgoodness. And bonus, she is making Hawaiian kimchee! Not as spicy as Korean but a great gingery, garlicky, sour punch that compliments the rich pulled pork. Can't stop talking about it. read more

Stopped here today and got the combo platter (Kahlua pork and teriyaki chicken over rice with a side of macaroni salad for $9) and a shaved ice ($2). The woman running the stand was very pleasant. My food was ready in just a few minutes. I wish I lived closer as I would visit more often! There appeared to be a small covered eating area, but we enjoyed it at a state park just a mile or so away. Just an FYI- I noticed a sign with her current hours on it in the window: 11:00am-2:30pm. Stand is located on 259th just off the main drag through Ocean Park (Vernon Ave.).
