The positives - the ingredients are fresh! No doubt. Very impressed with the freshness. The two items we had - Pulled Pork Pineapple Fried Rice and The Shannon ('Italian Grinder') - tasted great. But The Shannon could have used more veggies, especially lettuce. It was mostly meat - which I would never complain about - but the sandwich was for my wife, and as an Italian Grinder enthusiast, she was expecting more veggies. But I'm thinking the price is prohibitive. Those two items alone were $35 and some change! Nothing to go with The Shannon - just a 7 or 8 inch sandwich. It was really good, but the pricing seems steep. I don't know how much either item was - they were both specials. But let's assume they were each $13.75. I don't know if we'll be stopping by on a regular basis if I'm dropping $36 (plus tip) for 2 items. I suspect some people will say that the Pulled Pork Pineapple Fried Rice is really two servings. Maybe 1.5. For takeout, $36 (plus tip) still feels steep. We did like the electronic beeper/vibrating devices so we didn't have to wait out in the wind.

I ordered two carne asada tacos and a side of rice and husband had three enchilada plate with chicken, rice and beans. Turns out the side of rice was enough to feed an army, I would have preferred a small half cup side for two or three dollars versus this giant trough of rice for seven dollars. I had enough rice left over for three more meals. Anyway, the tacos were superb, bursting with meat. Double corn tortillas, topped with cilantro, onions and green salsa it's hard to believe they can do this for $3.50 each. The enchilada plate $15 was huge and filling, tender chicken inside 3 rolled tortillas and nice green sauce on top with a sour cream garnish and a small salad. The beans were creamy and covered in cheese, very traditional. We froze to death in the spitty rain and wind, on an unprotected picnic table in the parking lot, for a very long time until our food beeper buzzed us to pick up. I noticed several people sitting in their cars with their beepers while we waited. We inhaled our meals and got back in our warm car ASAP. No frills no facilities, just good cheap chow!

Or rather, more additions to the menu…read more Today's mission was about trying her chicken.......but she put it on a bed of coconut/sesame stir fried rice vermicelli--(gluten free, if that's your gig). She calls it chop suey......I just call it incredible! Ok.....so you already know I'm a total fan of this place. I've been hanging nearby to get some work done, so I've made her food a bit of a study. I've had a couple distinct varieties of island BBQ......one kind is just about volume, and it can be pretty basic family food with some interesting tastes. The Queen is different. She paints with her island ingredients in her food! She exemplifies island food that seeks to capture the heart and feeling behind this food. She loves what she does, and you'll eat the product of that.......its just a happy vibe. The coconut noodles?......so creamy and rich! It complimented some of the freshest and juiciest chicken ever. There was that incredible coconut flavor, nuanced with a gingery teriyaki and BBQ char......and lest your mouth get too much savory, she added fresh blueberries and mango on the side to sprinkle some brightness. Oh. My. Gawd!! I ordered too much food......because I love the leftovers later. But I'm not ashamed to say I ate all of this so greedily. I challenge anyone not to! It was amazing. As a side note: my dog bowl addition.......it has spam. If you've had it, you know it can be potently salty......but I figured not from the Queen, so I stole one to sample! If you've been raised around that particular canned meat, you know there are ways of soaking it juuuust right that will neither make it bland and squishy, nor too salty and unidentifiable as ham.......the Queen knows this art. I normally won't take just any spam musubi......,because the spam is so rarely "just right"......but that is absolutely my next adventure. This is straight up GOOD FOOD!

In California I would have to decide between filling up my tank or going out to eat ‍ -we got the BBQ mix plate which had short ribs, teriyaki chicken, and bbq beef.
