Shockingly the price was not 5/7ths of what a tasting normally cost. If she had let us know from the start that they would cut off our wine tasting before finishing, we would not have joined them at evening and come another time. Or if she had to give less time between the pours so we could be out right at the 5:00 closing time then we also would have understood. But instead no heads up, at her mercy of the timing of the pours, and didn't get to finish the tasting that we paid for. Rip off!

The Red Duet, a 50-50 blend of Cabernet and Syrah, was my personal favorite with a very nice aroma, smooth texture and an equally smooth taste. Was about to drive on... But I decided to call and Farmer John was more than accommodating! It's a farm meets vineyard meets winery. Anyways, we called and Farmer John came and opened the gate for our two cars. We came in and parked next to the barn. He gave us the choice of tasting inside or outside - we chose outside. After the 15 minutes he needed to get ready, he rolled out with all the glasses and bottles required for a tasting for 5 adults. Most of the wines are fruit forward but we all really enjoyed that about them. They well blended. John also explained that he's not pressured to put out wines that he doesn't feel meet his standard. This is a passion for him. Great conversations followed. The kids all played around the grounds and even went to go meet the farm animals! We all bought 2 bottles (or more) each to cover our tasting. The front doors are practically majestic. No appointment necessary, but there is not an actual tasting room, so they do not do tastings in house. All are welcome to peruse the wine list (see pic) & purchase bottles for home. Prices are beyond reasonable; $9 or 10 bucks a bottle, w the most expensive being $16. $120 is the average for a case, & if you buy a case there is a 10% discount. The Cabernet & the Pinot Noir have the largest following, & it is the Pinot Noir that is my personal choice. California is blessed w grapes, & we are lucky to have such easy access to so many quality wines. Unlike the majority of the country (& the world for that matter), we're part of that privileged few that have the luxury of drinking locally, instead of having to fly or order our wine from great & far.
