What a great place! We came here for some sushi and were not disappointed. The place looks nice, and was quite busy. The sushi was nice and fresh, as were the gyoza. The staff were also really friendly. They have a great outdoor area by the street which also allows you to enjoy the busy streets. Definitely recommended.

I'm a big fan of Japanese food. It's good for vegetarians and good for your heart. Also, tasty and wholesome. My favourite Japanese restaurant is Roka in Charlotte Street but I wanted to try Tsunami (also in Charlotte Street) having read good reviews. I went there yesterday for a business lunch. We were the first to arrive but the place filled up quickly and got quite buzzy but not so loud that you couldn't follow the conversation. The service was pretty efficient although the whole place seemed sort of cramped and the service area was very small. The decor is impressive and makes the most of a long, narrow space. It was a very cold day and so I wanted something hot rather than sushi. I ordered tempura vegetables (nice but not special), another tempura thing (I forget which but very nice), a Salmon teriyaki (good) and a vegetable hotpot type of thing which really wasn't pretty awful - tepid, flavourless, limp vegetables in a watery sauce. With rice, water, two coffees and service, this came to £40. I expect I would have spent more in Roka but the Robata grill there is excellent and the choice of warm and veggie dishes is much better. Also the space is brighter and more open. For what I got, I think it was a bit too much. Wagamama would have been better and a third of the price. Having said all that, the sushi plates that appeared on other tables looked very good and perhaps we would have had a better experience if we'd stuck to the speciality of the house.

I lived right next to this place for a year but only went there once... I guess that's not a good sign. We were 2 people and ordered 4 small dishes for which we paid roughly 30 pounds. The presentation is rather stunning but to me it was much ado about nothing. The Spinach Ohitashi were four little towers of unseasoned spinach on a splash of soy sauce and topped with an onion. The seaweed salad wasn't bad but again overpriced at 7 pounds. "Toban Vegetables" is plain roased veg for 8.70£. No thanks!

We ordered karaage, and gyoza as well as a selection of sushi (Four Meal Drive), which was a really nice sampler - we loved all of it! Also got the California roll, which was delish. Yuzu pale ale beer rounded out the meal. Overall 5 star experience - great service as well as delicious food and location that can't be beat if you are needing something in Covent Garden.
