For a smaller regional airport, it honestly made a very good impression on us. One thing I found interesting is that despite being called an "international" airport, Austin Straubel mainly serves regional and domestic travel throughout the Midwest, though it does occasionally handle international charter and seasonal flights. The airport itself is named after Austin Straubel, the first Brown County resident killed during World War II, which adds a small historical layer many travelers probably don't realize while passing through. The airport was clean, organized, and extremely easy to navigate. In many ways, it reminded us a lot of our home airport in Sioux Falls -- Sioux Falls Regional Airport, or FSD as locals usually call it. Smaller airports like these may not have the giant terminals and endless amenities of places like O'Hare or DFW, but honestly, there is something refreshing about being able to get through security quickly, find your gate without walking five miles, and not feel completely overwhelmed by crowds. Traffic inside the airport was fairly light during our visit, and there weren't many planes moving through at the time, which made the experience feel relaxed and low stress. There honestly isn't a dramatic amount to say about the airport itself, but perhaps that's part of the compliment. Everything simply worked smoothly. And after enough years of travel, my husband and I have learned to deeply appreciate airports that make life easier instead of harder.

They've got great facilities and sharp staff that are ready to attend to your needs. If you're stopping in Green Bay, there aren't too many options but this place is top notch.

We had flown our WWII C-47D from the Yankee Air Museum in and landed directly at Oshkosh to participate in the Warbirds displays for a couple days. Our original plan for returning was to get dropped off with our luggage near our plane when we were finished with the Airshow. Then we would take off from Oshkosh. But due to the traffic in and around the Airshow as well as complications for getting our group and our luggage to the plane for departure, our pilot decided to fly the plane from Oshkosh to Appleton International Airport which was also closer to our hotel. Then we could all meet up there to board the plane and depart for home. The air traffic was much lighter and there were virtually no vehicle traffic problems getting our group to the plane. The Platinum Flight Center at Appleton International Airport is where we met to board our plane. They operate facilities to service and fuel charters, Business flights, private planes, etc, as well as passenger services and processing. They are located on the opposite side of the airport grounds and everything looked new, clean, and well maintained. They even loaded and delivered our luggage to and onto our plane for us. This could be useful for future airshows as well.

Home to the world's largest airshow, this airport is very large for general aviation. The field has…read moreeverything needed to make all crafts feel included in the celebration of aviation. Outside of EAA this airport is your standard towered field with a flight school, FBO, and two very, very long runways. Tower staff is friendly but the FBO is hit and miss with low staff levels.

I came in for Airventure Oshkosh…read moreand have to say, this was an amazing experience and should be done at least once in everyone's life. The bathrooms were always clean (porta pottys) the showers worked, even when they had lines. Food was readily available and what I ate was good. I really enjoyed all the vendors and everyone treated everyone good. The have trams and golf carts that carry people around, of course the lines for these can be long. Next trip I will bring a scooter of some form. I will gladly be back again.
