Cute and convenient airport. Serves only one or two flights at a time, it's never really busy. Parking is reasonable, check in is a breeze, security and TSA so much nicer than at O'hare or other hubs. The downsides of smaller airports is that there aren't any real choices for food, next time I'm going to bring a bag lunch with me. Also, there's no place to buy a newspaper, so if you're a relic from the 20th century like me, bring your reading material with. read more

This airport is cute and small. I would've given it 5 stars had it not been for the fact that it was under some construction when entering and exiting, my plane landed but it had to wait for an open space to park to let us out, and that the car rental is not connected to the airport...you need to go outside of the airport and walk to the car rental area. Most airports have the car rental connected. Other than that, I enjoy that it is not over crowded and you can have a place to sit. read more

This is a convenient little airport. I flew in here in 2021 to visit friends in Appleton and I really liked how compact and efficient it was. Flying in was easy and flying out was easy too. The lines moved quickly and there are only a handful of gates so you can get to your plane quickly. There was plenty of seats in the boarding areas but not many amenities open, but I am guessing that's due to Covid. One note, friends that fly from Appleton to Chicago frequently often get stuck so as if one flight gets delayed, it causes problems that have a ripple effect so that's why I can't give it more stars. read more

I like that it's small but there is a lot of incompetence at this airport. I'd also met the rudest TSA agent I've ever encountered in my life. this old blond lady actually got off on stressing me out about my flight. I hope you give your employees healthcare because this woman needs some mental health care. I have experienced multiple times of pilots not being able to get ahold of anyone so we are literally trapped in the plane waiting for the airport staff. I can't imagine how frustrated airlines get with this place. Also how are there not techs at the airport? that's scary to me that there isn't even one. We had an issue with our plane and they had to drive from Green Bay! please do better for the pilots and staff. and get that one lady on some Prozac! read more

I think their customer service is under performing and very inconsistent. There are more delays from this place than any airport I have been at, for the love of god please have working deice machines. Why does it take so long to get luggage once we land? The last flight coming back from ATL seems to struggle to get bags to baggage pick up under 35 min.. I would look at Green Bay and Milwaukee before ATW. read more

It's a small airport, but it gets the job done just fine. I used to fly out of here when I lived in the area and didn't remember it being so small. But, after living in Chicago and frequenting O'Hare and Midway, I guess my perspective changed. I flew in and out of here recently to visit family (it was cheaper than a rental car), and being a small airport has it benefits. We landed and just a couple minutes later we were at the gate. A few minutes later, I was out the front door catching my ride. It's pretty convenient. Flying out, there was absolutely no line at TSA, and the agents I dealt with were extra friendly. There are only a few gates, but everything is clearly marked. I didn't see a whole lot of food options, but there were a couple of vending machine style options. There was one restaurant that appeared to be a brewpub of sorts? I didn't look too closely but it seemed like a viable option if you wanted a true meal and a place to sit down. If you're just flying in and out, the small size makes it super convenient. If you were to get stuck here or have a long layover/wait, I could see it getting a bit dull. But overall, it's a solid option for northeast Wisconsin! read more

When I can't get a direct flight out of Milwaukee, I always check ATW to see if there is something comparable. Sometimes it's only a few bucks more so I fly out of Appleton. It's closer to home, and parking is much cheaper! It's also nice because you can usually go through TSA without even breaking your stride! (Almost)! Clean, friendly and you don't have to walk very far from parking lot to gate. Plus you can literally show up to check in 15 minutes before your fly starts to board. read more

I've had better experiences with passenger pick up at third world airports than I did at ATW. We arrived with no luggage so went right to the pickup area and ordered an Uber. The Driver was only five minutes out but stuck in traffic at the airport entrance. I had to physically direct traffic, with my CPAP over my shoulder, to try to get traffic moving so the Uber could make it to the terminal to pick up my wife. Asking drivers why they were parking on the terminal driveway instead of the cell lot several answered that the fight had landed but their passenger hadn't received their luggage yet. My response to them was you needed to wait in the cell lot until your passenger had their bags. There was a complete absence of traffic control in the three lanes of driveway at the pickup area. I expected more from the ATW airport. What a disappointment. read more

This is the worst airport I have ever been in. yes it's small. It's right in my hometown easy to get around but the workers are very rude and let me tell you if they decide to close the airport down. They will and cancle all flights. They do not care. No matter how many are coming in. Such a cute little airport, I could almost pinch its cheek (but that might probably be considered unwanted touching). Clean terminals, efficient and friendly staff, inexpensive and convenient parking. Arrived 55 minutes before my flight, parked in the long term lot, checked a bag, and was thru security with 45 minutes still to go til flight time. TSA pre-check is almost unnecessary here. They say you can take a carry on and then they check your carry on. My flight here resulted in the same scenario and they lost my bag till the next day. Luckily my bag arrived the next day before my next flight. You get what you pay for and the staff at the gate could care less. If you want to be treated as a second class citizen, choose American air lines. I also upgraded my connection flight paid extra for preferred seating. Appleton airport is very small and very easy to navigate. You are often told to be at the airport 2 hours in advance, but at this airport I'd imagine that just one would be enough. I was able to check in and get through security in under 10 minutes. The process was very smooth and very easy. All flights are out of the same departure hall and they have less than 10 gates. There are no long distances to walk and no real way to get confused at this airport. There is a large cafe before security and there is a smaller cafe/restaurant just after going through security. A lot of airports are extortionate with food prices, but I was able to get a decent burger and fries here for around $10. They also have a few vending machines. Everything was very clean. Would definitely fly in and out if here again if given the chance. read more

The main entrance of the airport is completely shut down and there is major construction that is requiring an alternate and very much smaller access entrance to this airport. We do recommend that you arrive to the airport at two hours prior to departure as the TSA is very slow due to the COVID-19 and lowered staffing levels. read more

So small and petite. Can't get lost. Very clean. Easy to check in and get out. Small enough that you really only need to arrive 20-30 mins prior to boarding time. Will lay over into larger airports which cuts out the hassle to going to bag check at the larger airports. Can't wait to be able to travel again. I love this airport...it's small but with the recent renovation, it's really modern and clean. There's a little place near the gates where you can sit for a beer or few to ponder why you're here and why you would want to come to Appleton. I wouldn't recommend eating there - it's not great. The car rental companies have been moved to the parking lot. Once you get your bags, go out the automatic doors and you'll see a small building in the parking lot. That's it! Appleton airport is probably one of the easiest and most convenient airports I have been. It is also one of the cleanest and up to date with its decor including a beautiful living wall art of plants. There is hardly ever a wait to get through security and if there is a line it doesn't take long. read more

I can't believe I'm giving a small town airport such a high rating but I gotta say, I am very pleasantly surprised by Appleton's little airport - to clarify, very clean, open, new, and full of natural light airport. I purposely avoided Appleton when flying into Wisconsin, choosing Green Bay as the preferred destination as I figured it would have the better/larger airport for that area. I think I stand corrected. The Appleton airport is currently being remodeled so given I've never flown here before, I can't say if it's a dramatic facelift but from what I saw, it's a good change. Car rentals are OUTSIDE the terminal but all you have to do is walk out the main doors, across the street aka passenger drop off zone, and it's in a new/small building. Pretty simple. I actually found that I spent more time waiting in line at the car rental to return my vehicle than going through TSA! Not bad for a first time experience. Slow check in. Each time I go they have people with their bags open distributing the weight between their bags. The counter even admitted the scales are likely not calibrated. There are only a few electronic check in. So I suggest doing it ahead of time if at all possible. Otherwise be prepared for slow service and people doing the weight shuffle. read more

Check in, PreCheck and concessions had only myself on the line and I was able to get from the curb to the gate in 5 minutes. Staff I interacted with was professional and courteous. 1610l9Being my hometown airport I've seen many years of improvement. The recent remodel was done with the revelers in mind. Check in area is set up by airline and has a welcoming feel. TSA lines are usually short. I can get to the airport 1 hour early, drop my bag off and get through security within 15 minutes on average. Of course busier times of year require getting their earlier. The terminal area is clean, has one eatery and one little shop. The main shop is before security so be sure to grab your cheese curds before you walk through! My only complaint is they need more charging stations. Bathrooms are very high tech and modern. There is also an area for relaxing that includes a plant wall and tips on keeping healthy while traveling. Baggage claim is small but they don't have many flights coming in at the same time. Car rental location is just a short walk outside. Since my family lives here I can't speak for the car rental desks or the valet parking for those traveling out of the frozen tundra. ATW also has an amazing marketing team and their free swag is on point! Just stop up at their office located on the 2nd floor near the Delta counter and ask for some logoed goodies! read more

Also probably the nicest TSA people in all the travel land. There is a restaurant before you go in and then one after walking through the checkpoint. There are only 8 gates so you don't have to worry about rushing from one end to the other. read more
