We stuck around the bar, watching the opening weekend of the NFL season and shooting the breeze with our guide, before heading back towards St. Louis. Defiance was so named in the late 19th Century, as a remembrance of standing tall to get its own train station in defiance of what its neighboring town wanted. Today, it is remembered as the area where the famous frontiersman Daniel Boone lived out is last days AND the gateway town to the Missouri Valley Wine Country, which our group of four had visited earlier in the day.
