Stumbled across Dave's in Auburn so I stopped in and told them my story. My issue was the clutch which they fixed and it runs well and they also advised ball joints were worn. Had them replace them. My Jeep actually steered in a straight line again. I was thinking my next stop would be alignment but do not have to do that now. The thing I really like about this shop is their longevity and the crew are car guy's. They know what they are doing and I will be back.

After about 4 hours, I received a call with a quote of nearly $1,600 to replace all four rotors and brake pads. I later called another shop and got an estimate for the exact same work at $1,200, which confirmed that their quote was on the very high side. I declined the work and went to pick up my car. I was told they did a minor cleaning of the brakes to reduce the noise, and I was charged a little over $100. Unfortunately, the brakes squeaked exactly the same as when I brought it in. I didn't make a big deal about that since the underlying issue wasn't addressed -- but when I got home, I noticed my hubcaps hadn't even been removed. That really made me question whether any work was actually performed at all. Between the high pricing, the ineffective "fix," and the suspicion that my car may have just sat in the shop while I still paid over $100, I will not be returning here. I would recommend that others get a second opinion before agreeing to any repairs at this shop.

We show up at 9:00, he takes the Jeep and is done in a little less time than he thought. Deducted $50 and off we went. His waiting room is immaculate, comfortable, air conditioned and very pleasant. If I lived here, I would definitely go back to John at Skyline Auto. He is polite, efficient and a professional.

So I agreed to do both. during work it was discovered that the radiator also leaked so I agreed to replacing that as well. When I met with John to pick the car up he simply handed me my keys and said he wasn't going to charge me for any of the work performed due to the shops inability to correct a new starting issue with the vehicle he suggested that it runs fine and starts perfect most the time, so maybe I just drive it. Suggested I could take it to another shop and diagnose what's wrong with it but really it wasn't a big runability issue. So now I'm thinking what the heck did you do to my car, so I took it to GM in Auburn and paid for diagnosis. John expects that I should be happy with the fact I didn't have to pay for any of the work that he performed on the vehicle. In his mind evidently future repairs which are substantial plus the car I had to rent because this was my daily is all on me, not his problem. Now my car sits in the GM backlot waiting for a camshaft that is backordered for a month or two. What I would explain as a massive lack of integrity from the shop, because this is not how you treat customers. Aaron 2014 Chevy Cruze 1.8L with 86 thousand miles. What they found was an absolute shocker.. John's shop had broken the exhaust camshaft and then repaired it with what looks to be 5-minute epoxy.. 5 MINUTE EPOXY!

This truck had been the perfect rig for a long time! But unfortunately, I was to become victim of the dreaded Curse of the "53" block. At around 238,000 miles, she finally gave out. I was overheating, and finally found the coolant leak. Sure enough, it was a cracked block. As I mentioned, I love my vehicles. I typically do my own work, but I didn't have the time, tooling, space, nor frankly the inclination for a project this big. I was pretty worried about where I would go to have the work done. I definitely wanted to keep the truck. It's my ultimate rig, with a 6 speed manual. It's my "retirement" truck. I spent the better part of a Saturday going over reviews of various places, and kept coming back to Sound Diesel. Reviews mean a lot to me, and Gene had some great ones, so I decided to take it to him. Gene immediately diagnosed the cracked block and was straight with me from the get go. "I don't do anything stock" he said and he gave me a quote. It was a good quote for the high quality work that I expected and I gave him the go ahead. I could tell from the start that Gene and I share the same philosophy....do the job once and do it right! Gene was amazing throughout the entire build process! He was very communicative, giving me constant updates as the work was being done, from tear down to buildup. He invited me down to the shop to inspect the block once it was out and torn down, and again several more times as the project continued. I was very impressed with the work, and the atmosphere of the shop. The mechanics he has working for him are also consummate professionals and I enjoyed chatting with them. Finally came the big day when Gene sent me a video of the truck being fired up for the first time, and man it lit right off! He then brought me down to the shop to take it for a drive. Holy sweet mother of whiplash! I knew that my truck was going to turn out good, but I had absolutely NO IDEA of the level of good!!!! This thing is a whole new animal!! Gene made some upgrades for me along the way and I am so glad I listened to his advice. The new clutch he put in is like butter, and the new tuner is much better and more user friendly! Best of all with the new, upgraded turbo, injectors, and Gene's master tuning, the power output is INCREDIBLE!!!!! I actually have to be more careful now because she will break loose without so much as thinking about it if I am not! Hilda is a whole new beast, and I would put her up against any new truck in her class! Thank you Gene, and thanks to your employees as well for the First Class treatment and the love and care you showed my truck!! You have a customer for life! I encourage anyone needing work done on their diesel to go straight Sound Diesel! You will not be disappointed!!
