We had a power outage in our master bedroom so I looked online and found Truth Electric Solutions (Frankie and Jose), which advertised a $79 service call and was listed on Nextdoor as a "Favorite". I called and they said they could be here in 40 min. When they arrived, I told them I got their name from Nextdoor. They moved furniture in our bedroom and tested the electrical plugs. They then traced a wire through the attic to the breaker. After 2 1/2 hours, I was told a breaker was tripped. They flipped it back on and charged me $670. Frankie said he had initially looked in the subpanel but didn't check the breaker because the panel was labeled pool/spa. Jose told me when he was in the attic, he saw loose wires that could be dangerous. (I had an A/C tech in my attic the next day, told him, and he scoured the attic: no loose wire). When I asked for an invoice, they said they emailed it to me. The invoice only had a total figure and I had to ask for an itemization, which showed I was charged $250 for the service call. I asked why I didn't get the $79 Nextdoor advertised price which is why I chose them, and I was told "anything that takes us 1 hour 15 min to get there and 1.5 hours to get back" is $250, and their hourly rate is $210. They denied ever charging a $79 rate and said they would check Nextdoor. Both my phone logs and my Ring camera confirm that they arrived at 1:15pm, 40 min. after our 12:44pm call, exactly the time they told me on the phone, NOT 1 hr and 15 min. When I checked Nextdoor the following day, their ad had been removed. I have since shared this story with 3 independent electricians who have told me they never rely on what is written on the fuse panel because it is often incorrect, they will always check every breaker, and if Frankie or Jose had used a "breaker tracer", which every electrician has and uses, the tripped breaker would have been discovered within 10 minutes of arrival. They were also incredulous that any electrician would casually mention loose wires in an attic and not immediately address the issue. Also, after Frankie and Jose had left, my husband I discovered our bedroom furniture had not been returned to its original locations, bedside lamps were left on the floor, plastic bins from the floor were stacked on our bed, and there was debris in the hallway from the attic. Their inoice does NOT state their license, as required by law. A search of the database does not show a license for that business. I can't do anything about the money because I paid them by check, which was promptly cashed. Just wanted to share my experience. read more
