If you're looking for a company that talks out of both sides of their mouth, this is the company to go with. They quoted my neighbor one price then charged me more. Then had one of their employees asked for more money. Said they were going to remove my stump never did call them back a week later. Said they were going to come out to do it. Never showed up another week goes by and then they asked me for more money to remove the stump. They never return your messages. You pretty much have to chase them down for every little thing. I am so sorry to write this review but i think it is necessary for everybody to know every experience. Positive and negative. FACTS: I called Trusty tree for a fallen tree on our house. Apparently because they "call" these situations an emergency the cost consequently sky rocket. My question is: If I call them at 1am, I agree that is an emergency, but if they come the day after, even if they have to move some appointment is this really an emergency to justify such increase in the cost? After all cutting tree is their job. Probably because of the emotional effect of a tree on your house they know you would pay any price to have it removed. However, even though I don't like this system, I acknowledge that it is the way many of these company work. I have no complain for the job they have done, however, upon leaving, the owner left us a nice "gift" on my driveway and my neighbor's property. On my driveway, his truck (operated by him) left several huge spots of hydraulic fluid that cannot be removed and on the way out from the driveway, he broke several blue stones of our neighbor curbside. After several calls, the owner finally came and claimed that it was not his fault. When I brought witnesses and proof it was his truck he reluctantly agreed while he tried every possible way to ridicule and downplay the severity of the damages and his responsibilities. Even his team tried every possible way to convince him that it was his responsibility and he needed to step up and take care of the problem. We had to get close to threaten legal actions and file claim with his insurance to finally have the people on his team step up and settle the matter. Not him, his team. RESULTS: The work they did was ok. However, the fact that he intentionally didn't say anything the day he caused the damages and tried to initially deny it when confronted is despicable. Even people from his team, that witnessed and acknowledged his responsibility where embarrassed by his actions. BOTTOM LINE: Just for the lack of honesty and integrity demonstrated by this individual (owner) I would never AND ever rehire his company as well as I would not recommend him to anybody. I prefer not to leave negative reviews for local businesses, but here we are. The positive is that we had a fine experience with them for most of our interaction in terms of the fact that they did the service at a competitive price. Everything was amicable up until it came time to settle the invoice after the work was done. I was assured (in writing) that there would be no damage to our lawn for the tree removal. There ended up being some torn up lawn and tire marks. Not a huge deal but we asked to have a conversation about how they would fix the lawn before we settle their invoice. Something switched in the owner where he started screaming at us, saying payment is due immediately once the work is complete (I did not sign anything to that effect nor did I agree to that) and that I was withholding payment. Ignoring the fact that all we wanted to do is understand what they would do about the lawn damage (which they flipped between saying there was absolutely no damage and then saying that it was normal wear and tear to be expected for a project like this and that "damage" would be a "giant hole in our yard"), they threatened to call the police on us if we did not pay immediately (an empty threat, because the police would not involve themselves in an invoice or contract dispute). Another employee told my pregnant wife that she was being overly upset because she is pregnant. I can't say whether this was just isolated incident, but a horrendous attitude from the owner of this business and a complete lack of professionalism and no semblance of customer service. I will never call them again nor could, in good conscience, ever recommend them. There are plenty of other tree removal services in the area with actual integrity. read more

Very sloppy work. Our next door neighbors hired Trusty Tree to "trim" branches on a tree bordering our property. They took NO precautions to avoid damaging nearby wires and dropped a huge branch on our Verizon wire. We lost internet (and TV) in the middle of the workday. I recently purchase an older home in Montclair that had yard full of trees that were causing damage to the house. I called trusty tree along with a couple of other companies. I wanted to share with the Yelp community the experience I had with Trusty Tree Service. I had requested quotes from several local tree services. The prices were all over the place and some of the people who came out were very unprofessional and some did not speak English that well, which made it hard to communicate. When I called Trusty I spoke with Joe and he came out that day and later that evening I had a quote in my email inbox. I found him to be very polite, respectful, very knowledgeable and super professional. His quote was actually the lowest I got . Now the lowest is not always the best. You want a crew that really will do a great job and be careful around your property. Well Trusty Tree came out and the crew was GREAT! These hard working guys work very efficiently and quickly and when they were done, you never knew they were there as they cleaned up the entire property beautifully. On April 18, 2018. Roger from Trusty Tree came to do an estimate. He was going to take down Cherry blossom tree (and keeping the tree and branches), take down branches that are dangling, Trim 4 foot of tall trees, between the next door neighbor, trim 4 small bushes, take out one of the bushes by the kitchen window. and overall trimming of bushes in garden. He told me $700 for everything. On April 24th, it was scheduled for 2 pm-2:30pm. I called at 3:30pm. Then at 4:30pm. They finally came close to 5 pm. I told them I wanted to see when guys are working. First thing Roger said was "You pay me full. " There was no mentioning of payment when he came to do the estimate. I told him I will pay half. He said "No, pay in full. I am professional. I will come back if you are not happy." I came home and I am SHOCKED to find that all of my cherry trees is gone. I told them to keep the whole tree. At the day of estimate and when he came today. Also, he was supposed to take out one of the bush by the kitchen window, and trim and groom the rest of the garden. That has not been done. When I contacted BBB, they have a rating of "F" and it just shows what kind of business this is. read more
