This place was a great place to accidentally stumble across. Yesterday my car started overheating as I was driving. I pulled over on 7th street not wanting to drive too far. I noticed online they had an auto repair shop on the next street over. I pulled up and the owner came out, looked at my vehicle and diagnosed it right away. Mind you it's 2:30 in the afternoon. He tells me he has to order the part and he will get it around 430. I get a quoted price which was very reasonable! I also did not have to pay for the diagnostic maybe because the issue was obvious but either way I was happy. I got a call this morning letting me know my car was done. I didn't have a ride downtown so they offered to pick me up. All and all I am just happy to find an honest place that was an affordable option for me. This owner is a joke. I take my car to this place to fix an issue with the check engine light to get my car smogged. He claims he fixed the issue but in addition he wants to fix my stereo? I'm not a mechanic but What does my stereo have to do with the check engine light? I didn't Want him to look at my stereo because I knew it worked properly. Although he insisted on working on my stereo.. I told him no because 1)thats not what i brought it in for 2)I knew there was nothing wrong with my stereo. Since I did not let him work on my stereo(which worked properly) he took out the part he apparently put in. He insisted on working on my stereo and I got mad at him because that's not why I brought my car in. And on top of that there's nothing wrong with my stereo. (As I said multiple times) Just be prepared if your vehicle in for one issue he may try to work on a completely different issue in that is irrelevant to the issue that you've had. This shop is anything but trustworthy! The owner appears to be the kind, concerned mechanic looking out for all the women that are not auto mechanic savvy. He does take advantage ladies! He sold me a car on payments then had someone come steal it off my driveway 2 months later! The police officer told me he's known for being shady like that. When I called him to let him know the car was stolen from my driveway he acted like I was responsible and treated me like I did him wrong! Be careful is all I am saying!!! He had my personal property that was In the trunk of the car, on his shelves in his shop a few months later. Go figure that one out! read more

This is a mechanic you can trust. I am not from California and needed work done on my Volkswagen Jetta. I took a chance by taking it to Trust and the man that owns the shop was completely fair. He didn't charge a diagnosis fee and what I thought was a major problem was a small one. He could have ripped me off but he didn't. This was my first time at his shop. The second time was today. Once again, had the chance to rip me off but instead took me up under my car and showed me what was going on.... This is an honest man. He is from Iran. Very nice guy. read more

I was a little leery on approach; the place is small, dingy, and the parking lot is full of beaten and broken vehicles. It's an auto shop, a locally owned place that doesn't pull any punches or carry any pretenses. Small time, and I think in this case it works out perfectly for them. They were able to take me without appointment. The two technicians (ha! Ask me to remember a name) swapped off between my car and a VW on the lift. The issue I had wasn't something major, a coolant hose ruptured from ware and I caused a little bit of a chemical spill (sorry California). I mostly wanted to make sure there wasn't anything wrong with the radiator that caused the leak so I took it in. Less than an hour later I drove out. They ordered and received the parts, fixed the problem, and checked the operation. They even let me watch, that never happens. The price was great, and the service was excellent; it was everything an auto repair place should be. read more

I wasn't sure what to make of the place at first because of it's outward appearance, but my husband and I couldn't have expected better service from here. We originally went in for one of our cars but after the great service that we received the first time we decided to make an appointment for our second car to get serviced. There were some parts we needed to replace and they were able to do it quickly, and weren't shady about it. They also cover their work, so if there is a problem with what they've done with the car we can always bring it back to have it fixed; no charge. I'd recommend this place as a shop you can trust. read more

So frustrated with Trust Auto. We always refer people there. Today my son goes in to check on his car, because they had it overnight for the window falling inside the door, and it's sitting out in the rain (leather interior mind you). The inside is totally wet. When he asks why it's out there, the guy says they put it out this morning because it wasn't raining. Ummm, it's been raining all day! No apology, no "we made a mistake", just it wasn't raining when we put it out there. It's 4:15 pm and it's still out in the rain, they couldn't even find 2 minutes to tarp the opening? If you want an honest and professional mechanic that won't rip you off this is the place to go. Fred is the name of the guy that owns and runs the shop. He specializes in foriegn and domestic automobiles. I took my BMW here for a CV boot repair and what normally takes half a day at the stealership, took him less than an hour + a fraction of the cost! ($700+ at BMW vs $85 at Trust Auto). Now she is back on the road like new. I am saddened because we are departing this area. I wish I would of known about Trust Auto Repair a long time ago. Trust Auto Repair is a blessing! Not since Wood's Union in Santa Barbara have I felt confident and safe in taking my car to a mechanic. Turns out, he worked at Wood's when my family took all our cars there. Well, now I take all of my family's cars to Fred Dehnaey at Trust in Lompoc. I know he gives an honest assessment, prices his services more than fairly and guarantees his work. He's worked on my Ford Escape with over 200,000 miles and our Subaru with high mileage, too. My Ford is going strong again just when I was worried I'd have to find a new car. Feels great! So much better to drive a car you love and know than have to take on a car payment. Heard about this business and about how good his work was and thought i'd give it a go. Needed a tune up on my Lincoln. I gave him a call to get a quote, he gave me a quote that was $75 to $120 less than the other shops in town. So I gave him the job, well to this day I do not regret taking my car there, it ran great and has been running great ever since. Additionally, he checked my car over for other possible issues for no additional charge. Fred is indeed a very honest man and I will recommend anyone who is in need of any car repair to give him a shot BEFORE taking it to someone else in town. I have had a very positive experience with the mechanic. He is reliable, hard working, reasonably priced and honest. I gave him only four stars because he is basically a one man shop. He has helpers, but he is the mechanic. If he is busy you will need to leave the vehicle all day, sometimes he'll call you to pick up your car at night. read more

I cannot say enough great things about my experience here. My car was making weird noises, I was told to bring it by at my convenience, and all my problems were fixed the very next day. I know nothing about cars, this is the first time I left an auto shop understanding what was being done and feeling more than comfortable with the costs associated with it. As a bonus I was able to get my windshield wiper fluid jets fixed (I was quoted over $300 for this at a Ford dealership, at Trust Auto it cost less than $60). This will be the first place I go to for any future issues and I can't think of a more worthy shop for high recommendations. read more
