But a few years back, a chocolate tone, kind of short woman who worked at the front desk and was the masseuse, was a complete nightmare to clients. She was rude, manipulative and unhinged. I still remember how while giving the massage she tried to trauma dump on me about her walking into her apartment to see that someone unalived themselves in it. Wtf?! Why are you telling me this while you are massaging me? Why are you talking to me? It's completely inconsiderate and inappropriate. And if you are a kind person it's hard to hear someone went through that and not have empathy- But I'm paying for this time and you are ABUSING IT!! I didn't want this woman touching me anymore she was just a soul sucking, destructive, bleeding spirit that needed personal help and to find another profession so that her toxicity wouldn't spread further. I remember calling to make an appointment for someone else for the 3rd session. I had no qualms about politely but directly saying that I did not want her again. Then she pretended to be someone else and said that she was the only person available for the time time slot. I just said never mind. I've had no issues scheduling with them (did not remember how it went, but did not remember it being difficult). I actually rescheduled, and no issue with that either. I was a bit late to the massage. Front desk lady was decently nice. My therapist was male - and they did not tell me or ask me about it - but I'm personally okay with having male therapists. There was no intake form - or any kind of intake though, he did not introduce himself, or ask if I have any areas I want to focus on or avoid. That is why this is getting 4 Stars. Not sure if it's just because I'm already late though. However, the massage itself is great. It is one of the best I've had in DC. Pressure was good, the therapist, despite not having asked me, focused on all the areas I want focus on. Nothing inappropriate at all. The room was nice and clean too. My only complaint is that the massage is only 50 mins, not a full hour. Unfortunately I live very far away from this place and it's not very public transit accessible, otherwise I'd totally come back.

I am a bicyclist with plantar fasciitis and very tight calves that make walking painful. I have been through physical therapy and orthotics, and still have discomfort every day. Not today though! I have never felt so much long-lasting relief with any of the painful massages I have been subjected to as I have with this massage. The woman has a gift: She can provide very firm massage or more gentle pressure, if you prefer. She knows reflexology. She asks your preferences and checks back often. Go there, ask for Kia. So, so happy I found her and can't wait for my next massage. The infrared sauna was pretty nice: You sit in a fancy, albeit slightly claustrophobic sauna box that heats you up from the inside to make you sweat and probably release toxins. While it is not my favorite thing to be hot and sweaty in a box for a half an hour, it really helped to sweat out the toxins released during massage. Kia says it is possible to burn up to 700 calories with this treatment, but said not to quote her. :) Those of you Washington old-timers may think this is an inconvenient or undesirable area to go to, but it is very middle-class looking these days. It's a little weird from the outside, but it is very nice inside. They are a little heavy on the spa fragrance, so if you have allergies, beware. Otherwise, a very affordable spa experience.
